That’s right, Division 19, June is upon us! And with June comes not only the looming presence of Final Exams, but the even more noticeable anticipation of summer vacation! Of course, in the midst of studying for Finals and relaxing during Summer Vacation, many of us lose sight of something very important: that fact that others still need help! So, in the midst of your finals prep, take a break and

Just because your Key Club may not do much over the summer doesn’t mean you have to! Donate food, decorate a pillowcase for CSH, or do something to support any of our District or International projects (of which a full list can be found on pages 5 and 6) with some friends, because even the smallest of actions can not only be tons of fun, but can have a massive impact. Yours in caring and service,

SPRING REGIONAL TRAINING CONFERENCES On Saturday, May 22nd, and Sunday, May 23rd, Key Clubbers from all over the state gathered at either Brick Memorial High School in Brick, NJ or Morris Knolls High School in Rockaway, NJ for the annual Spring Regional Training Conferences (RTCs). These half days of workshops provide tips to officers and members on how run their clubs more efficiently and successfully in the coming year. Both the North and South sessions were a total success, and Division 19 was able to show off its might to the rest of the District! Our Division earned the following distinctions in regards to RTC attendance: 1.

Best Percentage Attendance: 4 out of our 5 clubs attended, which is 80%. This is an OUTSTANDING number, especially for a Division that was not hosting said RTC.

2.

Best Overall Attendance (Tie): Our Division also tied with Division 20 and Division 6 for most amount of clubs in attendance. This is absolutely incredible, especially considering both Division 20 and Division 6 were hosting the North and South RTCs, respectively.

3.

2nd and 3rd- Most Members Present: Congratulations to Montville Township High School and Parsippany Hills High School! With 13 and 10 members in attendance, respectively, these two schools had the 2nd and 3rd best attendance out of all 157 schools in the District! To put that in perspective: the only school that beat us was North RTC host school Morris Knolls High School, who had 24 members in attendance.

NOTE: If you did not attend Spring RTCs, you must attend one Fall RTC, the closest of which will be on September 25th at Millburn High School in Millburn, NJ.

PROJECT IDEAS Just because school is out doesn’t mean you can’t start planing for the next school year! Check out some fundraising and service ideas for your club below! SILVER “STALL” DAY: During Silver Stall Days, a certain period does not start until a teacher counts all the change that his or her students bring in. All the change collected goes to charity. However, while this project gets the school involved and increases awareness, some schools may be unwilling to halt class without some convincing. BACKPACK BUILDING: Build a back-to-school kit for students who cannot afford school supplies, and donate it to a local charity. This type of activity supports both our Poverty and Live 2 Learn focus. Contact me for more information on local backpack drives.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE -By Public Relations Committee Co-Chairs Nicole Darrah (District Editor) and Brian Cheung (LTG of Division 20)

The Public Relations Committee was formerly known as the District Relations Committee‌ until it was changed during the 2009-2010 service year. The general idea of this committee is simple: Publicize + Build + Inform = Public Relations. Throughout the service year, this committee is assigned to create Powerpoints and videos, contact the local media, write articles, create brochures, and to overall publicize Key Club and its work in any way possible. We cannot do what we do without YOU, the members of this organization! It takes work on our part, but it’s a very simple thing for you to do. Why do you love Key Club? What makes Key Club so great? What does Key Club give to you? Instead of answering these questions in your head, answer them by telling your friends! By letting your friends know all about the wonderful thing that is Key Club, you are doing exactly what this committee entails: publicizing! If you have any questions or comments about the Public Relations Committee, contact co-chairs Nicole Darrah (njkceditor@gmail.com) or Brian Cheung (ltgcheung@aol.com)!

THE JERSEY KEY ALL members are invited to submit their artwork/poetry/prose to District Editor Darrah for inclusion in The Jersey Key, the official publication of the New Jersey District. Any and all submissions are due by 11:59 on July 19th, so submit your work soon! Also, any officers interested in nominating advisors or members for either the Advisor or Member Spotlight, contact either your President or myself for the nomination form! 6
