Henry Hudson-High Technology-MAST Middletown North-Middletown South-Red Bank Regional-Rumson Fair Haven

Official May Newsletter of Division 8 Table of Contents Hi everyone! My name is Elizabeth McCormack and I am thrilled to be working as your Lieutenant Governor for Division 8 for the 2010-2011 Service Year. Key Club is one of my biggest passions; it combines some of my most favorite things: service, helping others, and public speaking. I hope that whatever our division works to accomplish this year will go on to be a success! I am a sophomore at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology on Sandy Hook and besides Key Club; I take part in our Creative Arts Club, Academic Team, and school Newspaper. I also am heavily involved with the community service in my church. I love peace, Taylor Swift, Starbucks, the Red Sox, being outside, animals, and just about everything (: I am a highly approachable person and I hope to get to know all of the officers this year. If you ever need anything, I am always around!

DCON 2010 Recap! Anyone who attended NJ Key Club’s District Convention this year will agree on one thing: that it was an absolute blast. Engaging caucuses to elect the new District Board kept everyone on the edge of their seat. Music-blasting dances provided a great opportunity to meet people from all around the Garden State! Workshops helped to train incoming club officers so that we can all do our very best at our one common goal: helping others. Just from these things, we can conclude that DCON was a success! Held at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania from April 16th-18th 2010, Key Clubbers gathered for a purpose: to celebrate the past service year and welcome the new one with a bang! If you did not have the opportunity to attend this year, start saving up for next year, it is well worth it!

All about… ICON 2010! By Jared Greene, LTG Division 16 That’s right, Division 8, the summer is right around the corner! And with the summer comes Key Club’s annual International Convention, this time in the historic Memphis, Tennessee! This year, Key Club International has put together an amazing Convention, and the District is planning yet another tour to go along with it! ICON is a one week convention that drew over 1500 Key Club members , advisors, and administrators last year. During your time in Memphis, you’ll have the opportunity to meet new people, share Key Club Experiences, and leave with a new best friend. You’ll also get a taste of the various caucuses, workshops, elections, and delegations that make Key Club successful and make you a better Key Clubber.

The New Jersey District will travel to Memphis by bus, leaving New Jersey on the morning of July 4th, and returning on the evening of July 12th. On the road to ICON, we will stop at many points of interest, including Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, Graceland, and the Civil Rights Museum. At ICON, the festivities begin with a private concert by Ohio poprock superstars Relient K, and continue with appearances by such celebrities as Clay Aiken and Josh Hutcherson! It will truly be a week to remember. Anyone interested in attending, please contact Elizabeth McCormack ASAP for more information (including a primer and registration form), as the first payment is due by May 15th. If money is an issue, feel free to ask your Kiwanis Club to help you out with the costs. They would be glad to help!

See Relient K perform live!
