applied so suddenly, and this unprecedented situation had brought up a lot of confusion. Football is a sport with a lot of contact so we had to find a way to minimize it, so we came up with the idea of maximum 3 touches and no tackles. One disappointing thing is that the Phuket tournament was cancelled because of the pandemic. Our team has worked so hard, but these things happen and we were very unfortunate.” -Mr. Sayyam Swimming - No more than 5 people in the changing room - Maximum 3 people in each lane (first week) - Distancing as far as possible - If not swimming, must wear a mask “We had to adapt how we swim in the pool to respect the 2m distance, swimming widths instead of lengths. We cannot do most games and activities such as water polo. We are some of the lucky ones. We are able to continue as normal.” -Mr.Villanueva Black Lives Matter “Colin Kaepernick has as much chance of playing quarterback again in the NFL as a police officer would of being convicted of killing a black man.” - Jason Reid.

Colin Kaepernick was fired after a peaceful protest of police brutality against black people in America. Kaepernick’s team, the 49ers, did not actively support him at the time, but have now begun performance activism through tweeting a black square for #blackouttuesday, many have considered their actions hypocritical. In response to many NFL leagues posting for the #blackout, Eric Reid, who kneels with Kaepernick, retweeted saying ‘blackball’ (i.e. to secretly reject someone from a club) to criticise the way the 49ers treated Kaepernick. There have been a series of protests and riots relating to the Black Lives Matter Movement in response to George Floyd being allegedly murdered by a police officer while under suspicion of using counterfeit money (the police officer in question has been charged with 3rd degree murder and is now awaiting trial). Many protesters have been standing in solidarity against police brutality, like Kaepernick did. The #BlackLivesMatter and #ACAB movements have gained traction across the world, but especially in America, where the movement first began. Peaceful protests have turned into riots and looting in response to the violent actions of the police. The divide between black lives and the government has increased as the President of the United States tweeted, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts”. Since the widespread protests in response to the violent death of George Floyd, many athletes have stood in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement and George Floyd and against police brutality, just like Kaepernick did years ago. Jadon Malik Sancho, a forward for Dortmund, wrote ‘Justice for George Floyd’ on his shirt. The Liverpool football team collectively took a knee, as Kaepernick did, as a message of support for George Floyd and his family.

Athletes like Serena Williams and Michael Jordan have taken to social media to share messages in support of the protests and in solidarity with the countless black lives that have been taken by the police and racially motivated crimes. Let us all do our part and support the Black Lives Matter movement.

After 85 days since the 2019-20 NBA season went on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA Board of Governors approved a proposal that allowed 22 teams to resume play. Starting on July 31, 22 teams, 16 teams in current playoff positions plus the six teams that are within six games from the eighth seed in their respective conferences, will be resuming their season at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. Teams will arrive in Orlando beginning July 7 and will be allocated to different resort venues depending on their current standings. Once the players and team members settle in, nobody will be able to leave the resort without the League’s permission. Furthermore, everyone in the Disney NBA bubble will have to abide by the strict safety protocols set by public health professionals to ensure safety. Players, while in the bubble, will have access to amenities such as game rooms, golf courses, fishing areas, bowling alleys, and salon services. The NBA currently plans to play all their games in the basketball arenas located in the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. The NBA also hopes to have played the Finals by October 12.
