he positive feedback we received about the first edition from our members and those in the wider NOF Energy network confirmed that there is definitely a place for a publication like this that can further highlight the importance of the NOF Energy network and the vital role we play within the energy industry.

In addition, it enables NOF Energy to provide another platform to showcase the high quality companies that are within our membership and the excellent products and services they offer to industry.

With, for example, the recent publishing of the draft Energy Bill and the clarification of tax relief for decommissioning costs for North Sea assets in the Budget, there is growing optimism within the supply chain.

The Government has reconfirmed its commitment to the energy industry as it acknowledges how important the sector is to the economy and UK’s future power requirements.

In addition, the advances being made in technology by supply chain companies is increasing the longevity of existing energy

resources while enabling the exploitation of new and emerging resources.

This optimism was very evident at our recent national conference and exhibition, which was attended by over three hundred industry professionals who heard from some of the industry’s leading executives. They also took the opportunity to network with representatives from across the oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewables sectors.

A NEW BUSINESS, BRINGING LEADING EDGE TECHNOLOGIES TO THE SUBSEA INDUSTRY

art of the Reef Subsea Group, Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical (RSPU), based out of Thornaby, StocktonOn-Tees, is a relatively new player to the subsea market, but has already secured a significant contract on one of the largest European Offshore Wind Farms to date and has brought two new subsea trenching tools to market.

is designed for future Offshore Wind Farm developments, calling for increasing maximum bend radius of infield inter‐array cables. This will put RSPU in a good position for securing the UK Round 3 Tenders to come, as well as for other large wind farm developments in the North European waters.

Fundamental in securing the project was RSPU’s track record and experience in handling previous offshore wind and oil & gas installation and burial workscopes. The

young company has managed to complete a number of workscopes in offshore wind (Thanet, Greater Gabbard & Lincs Offshore Wind Farm) and has made a name for itself in the oil & gas market in the North Sea and Europe. RSPU also delivered a compelling technical solution and put forward a unique cable burial spread to meet Gwynt Y Mor’s requirements.

Daryl Lynch, Managing Director of RSPU says, “This contract is a significant milestone for RSPU and cements our place as a key player in the offshore renewables sector when it comes to offshore cable installation and burial. Gwynt y Môr wind farm promises to be one of the most prestigious European offshore wind farms to date, which we hope will help to propel Reef Subsea and its subsidiaries reputation even further. RSPU is committed to delivering high quality engineering and management throughout the lifecycle of this campaign, to ensure we meet client expectations and deliver a successful project.”

RSPU has made significant investments since it started operation, having had two multi-million pound subsea trenching assets built at local equipment manufacturer, SMD, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. These owned assets include the Q1000 industry-leading jet trencher and the Heavy Duty Inter-Array (HDIA) cable plough, which was delivered in January 2013 and will play a significant part on

the GYM project.

The HDIA cable plough is a proven design, capable of providing the safe burial of submarine cables in consolidated soils, including stiff clays. The plough will be used to simultaneously install and bury the 161 inter-array cables on GYM Offshore Wind Farm, which is expected to complete in March 2014.

RSPU’s second subsea tool, the Q1000, was brought to market at the end of last year and can provide the trenching of flexible products and rigid pipelines up to 3 metres. The Q1000 jet trencher was launched in October 2012, and has already completed its maiden project in the UK supported by the Reef Subsea owned vessel, Reef Despina. The Q1000 is capable of operating in extremely challenging environments, particularly associated with offshore wind farms, with the aid of its heavy latch beam Launch and Recovery System (LARS).

As part of RSPU’s ambition to become the leading installation and trenching partner of choice, it also wants to continue its growth at the Stockton base, having already reached a headcount of 38 permanent onshore personnel, and over 30 offshore. RSPU would like further strengthen this already experienced team and has ambitions to grow to 57 onshore personnel by the end of the year.

A

lberta’s energy sector is a key economic driver and has been for decades. The rich resources available in Alberta, Canada account for the third largest reserves of crude in the world and the largest deposits of oil sands in the world. International companies are investing billions of dollars into this industry – an estimated $20 billion of capital investment in 2012 alone. BP’s Statistical Review of world energy in 2011 highlights Canada as the world’s sixth largest oil producer and the world’s third largest natural gas producer and Calgary is home to the head office of nearly every major oil and gas company in the country. The city is also the base for major pipeline operators and manufacturers, oilfield service companies, drilling companies, energyrelated engineering firms and consulting firms, and numerous other industry bodies and associations.

Calgary’s high concentration of engineers, physical scientists and technician professionals provide the research, development, engineering, technical consulting and technological expertise to support the growth of Alberta’s energy industry. Calgary scientists and engineers have been instrumental in the development of techniques for horizontal drilling, shale fracking, SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage – an in situ method of extracting deeper oilsands deposits), THAI (Toe-to-Heel Air Injection) and other new technologies for extracting hydrocarbons – many of which were not in use a decade ago.

In terms of opportunity for UK companies, Calgary and Alberta provide plenty.

Firstly, many of the key players in the North Sea – for example Suncor, Talisman, Canadian Natural and Nexen – are headquartered in the

city. That provides motivation for UK firms to set up shop in Calgary – not just to nurture relationships important to North Sea business, but also to leverage those relationships towards doing business with those companies in their Canadian backyard and around the globe. UK Companies like AMEC and Wood Group have led the way in this regard.

Secondly, the UK Government’s renewed appetite for shale gas exploration and production provides a strong case for UK firms to partner with Canadian companies who are specialists in extracting gas via hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling, and have the environment-focused experience and expertise needed to do this safely and efficiently in the UK. Thirdly, as Alberta seeks to diversify its oil and gas export * MoneySense Magazine, 2013

markets, the East coast of Canada – and Europe – are becoming an increasingly enticing market prospect, accessed by pipeline or by Canada’s high-capacity rail network. Diversifying energy security and supply from Canada, a trusted ally and trading partner, has to be an attractive proposition to the UK, and offers significant potential for additional trade and business collaboration.

In order to access new markets and to maintain precious social licence, Calgary’s core industry needs to enhance its environmental performance in oil & gas and reduce emissions while also diversifying into new forms of energy production. A number of firms from the UK and other European countries are already helping to deliver that vision. Calgary is well-equipped to support firms that are developing and commercialising new clean technology through a winning combination of human capital, financial clout, and a strong knowledge-based economy.

Created in March 2012 with representatives from 12 companies, the Alliance targets improved measurement, accountability and environmental performance in the oil sands in four priority areas - tailings, water, land and greenhouse gases.

Calgary hosted seven of the Virgin Earth Challenge finalists at the Global Clean Energy Congress in November 2011 and Virgin and several finalists returned in October 2012.

Alberta’s provincial policy framework has driven growth in the marketplace of technologies to address climate change.

The Province has made a $2 billion plus commitment to the development of carbon capture and storage projects.

Alberta was also the first province to place a price on carbon through the Provincial Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program.

Calgary’s sustainable and renewable energy (SURE) cluster is working to develop solutions in renewable energies focused on solar, wind and biofuels. A

re you and your employees prepared for the ‘green shoots’ of recovery?

Whatever the economic climate, committed employees still have expectations regarding their reward and staff that remain in post after difficult times, particularly following redundancies are often confused and de-motivated. Without careful management, talent can be lost just at the point when the company most needs good people...

If predictions are to be believed, we are beyond the deepest point of recession and are in the process of a steep and escalating climb back to ‘normality’. The roller coaster ride for many has been profound and unprecedented.

If your company has managed its staff well during the difficult times, you will have: Continued at least to recognise the right employee behaviours even though you may have struggled to reward them Reviewed business process, HR policies, tax and administration to reveal any untapped efficiencies – examples include shorter

working weeks, changes to travel policies and salary sacrifice for pension contributions where savings can come through within a few months of implementation Kept communicating with employees about current HR and reward strategies – silence breeds fear and reduces employees’ engagement with the organisation Reminded employees about the value of their total reward package where they might otherwise focus only on base wages or salary Forward thinking companies will have made sure employees are engaged and committed to their jobs despite the tough economic climate. As business gathers some momentum the job market will be revived and employees can be tempted away. With increased commercial activity comes the need to identify key talent and ensure it is retained and rewarded. So what now?

Remember that Aunty you didn’t see very often when you were younger? At Christmas she’d present you with a beautifully packaged box of embroidered handkerchiefs.

They probably weren’t a cheap present; she may have saved hard to buy them for you. You’d say a polite ‘thank you’ and find a drawer to leave them in. If you were lucky, Mum would palm them off on someone she’d forgotten to buy for.

But it’s the thought that counts isn’t it? Not in business.

And not when it comes to employee remuneration!

The value (for value read ‘appreciation’) of a rigid remuneration package will depend entirely on the personal circumstances of the employee. Provide a free parking space for someone who catches the bus to work – no value.

Provide exceptional Death in Service cover for a single person with no dependents – no value. Provide a staff canteen for someone who is out on the road all day – no value. Give private medical insurance to someone already covered under their spouse’s policy – no value. Provide a company van and allow a huge employee tax bill to arise – no negative value! In all of these cases, the appreciation (or lack of it) by the employee will bear no resemblance to the cost suffered by the business.

Communication, Consideration and Flexibility.

Allowing employees to shape their own remuneration package by selecting elements of reward that are of most value to them results in maximum ‘bang for your buck’ (read ‘appreciation’). In flexible packages, tax-efficient and salary sacrifice perks can sit together with other flexibilities, e.g. holidays; and voluntary benefits, e.g. cash plans for dentist and optician. When you bundle schemes together under a flexible benefits scheme, the value of the individual components can be better communicated and understood.

Flexible Benefits administration software can be used to make the benefit selections process efficient but, in any event, arrangements don’t need to be complicated and even small amounts of flexibility can be of significant value to employees and to the company.

Many flexible benefits arrangements are self financing or generate savings (for employee and employer) by virtue of the tax-efficient perks incorporated including: Pensions – taking employee contributions out of the national insurance net (also mitigating the additional cost of pensions auto-enrolment)

NOF ENERGY JOINS FORCES WITH THE BRITISH FORCES RESETTLEMENT SERVICES TO LAUNCH MILITARY2ENERGY CAREERS SERVICE OF Energy, the business support organisation for oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewables, has teamed up with The British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) to launch The Military2Energy Careers Service. The service, which is designed to introduce ex-servicemen and women into careers in the energy sector, offers NOF Energy members the opportunity to communicate with and recruit from BFRS’s Armed Forces community of more than 14,000 skilled Service leavers.

NOF Energy and the BFRS are hosting their second Military2Energy Careers Event on Thursday 27th June 2013, 8:30am to 13:00pm at Catterick Leisure Centre in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. The event, which is open to exmilitary personnel and organisations in the energy sector, is a chance for energy sector supply chain employers and training companies to meet, network and recruit from a network of highly skilled Armed Forces leavers interested in starting a career in the energy sector.

The event follows on from the inaugural Military2Energy Careers Day in 2012, which proved successful for a number of ex-service people and employers.

Each year, more than 20,000 individuals leave the Armed Forces. This figure is set to dramatically increase as the MoD plans to make 54,000 additional redundancies before 2015. The next round of redundancies will be announced on the 18th June 2013, shortly before the event.

Many of these Service leavers possess valuable skills that are perfectly transferrable to roles in the energy sector and with staggered leaving dates, the Military2Energy

etween the 9th and 11th of January this year an IOSH Managing safely course was completed onboard the Intership Barge ‘Camelot’ moored in the anchorage of Pointe Noire the Democratic Congo of South Central Africa. Pointe Noire is one of the busiest ports along the West African coast and is the central service hub for the oil and gas industry of the region.

Barge Camelot is the largest of Intership’s six barges at 190 metres wide x 445 metres long with an accommodation capacity of 850 people. Intership engaged the services of DGA Safety to get as many of their managers and supervisors through this single course. Due to the activities ongoing on the barge at the time, as the barge makes ready to begin an eighteen month contract for Dynamic Industries on behalf of Chevron, it was a challenge for Intership & DGA to get the personnel released from their regular duties.

DGA working with senior Intership managers was able to structure the course around the working days of the

delegates, by starting very early and having a long break late morning through early afternoon before picking up the course again the course was completed and nine managers and supervisors completed the course and successfully passed the written assessment.

eyond the rhetoric, creating an engaging culture requires a real belief that people make a difference. It is a true leader who mindful of this, seeks and accepts feedback when they behave in ways that constrict the life breath of their organisation. When there is no freedom of speech, conversation burrows deeper into irrelevant detail, relationships petrify and cultures freeze over in fear.

Giving and receiving feedback requires risk on both parties. In my work as a coach, the messenger is in just as vulnerable a position as the client. Often, beneath my composed professional exterior, my heart has been pounding when delivering some insight that I know could well backfire. Only when there is a willingness on the part of my client to see the world through another’s eyes, will

the message be heard, understood and acted upon.

Vulnerability is not a weakness. It is an act of courage and means risking being hurt emotionally or financially. Our ego self does not take kindly to exposure. Pride can create monsters. How many times have we seen leaders making disastrous decisions because they are so lost in an inflated image of themselves. Incredulous, we wonder why on earth no one seemed to be able to hold up the mirror of reality before Armageddon? History is littered with egotistical leaders reeking havoc.

However, it is too easy to hide behind the shield of other’s failings. Scapegoats are a dangerous defence mechanism. So let’s bring it home. How many times have you held up your hand and admitted you got it wrong?

When you did, what was it about the culture around you that made it safe enough for you to do that? On the other hand, think of the times that you didn’t tackle an issue because failure wasn’t an option?

Recent examples of changes to legislation that impact upon a business, either coming into force or announced, include the changes in rights to parental leave, consultation on changes to the TUPE regulations, flexible working, the unfair dismissal qualifying period and pensions auto-enrolment.

• Automatically enrol certain workers into a pension scheme

All of the changes will have an impact of some degree and managing the changes can sometimes feel like a full time job before the day to day work begins.

Whilst larger organisations are well prepared for the new regime smaller organisations may not have been fully briefed by their advisers as to what may be required of them as a result of these changes. Is your current pension scheme actually fit for purpose and will it be approved by the Pensions Regulator?

Small businesses in particular may find it almost impossible to keep up with legislation which is a shame because it is not all bad now that the UK government are trying gradually

Pensions Auto Enrolment One recent change in particular that is now in law was the introduction of auto enrolment for pensions which requires employers to;

• Make contributions on their workers’ behalf • Register with the Pensions Regulator • Provide workers with information about the changes and how they will affect them.

It is important that companies ensure that this is done before their staging date because the reporting requirements to the Pensions Regulator are quite onerous and also employees do need to be made aware that they will also be making a contribution, a fact that didn’t really come across in the TV advertising that was carried out by the DWP. More information is available at www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk Global Reach Many companies involved within the energy industry may use a workforce that is employed outside the UK and the recent statements in the media at the time of the March budget have cast doubt upon the legality of these offshore employment arrangements. One common misconception is that Tax and Social Security are the same but actually there are two different sets of

legislation.

employment cycle in small ways or more comprehensively.

Within that legislation are further distinctions and for example in relation to the energy sector, Mariners are covered by a separate strand of legislation. It is believed that this specific legislation will endure even if proposed changes to other legislation does occur within the forthcoming 2014 Finance Bill which was announced in the March budget and on which consultation is about to begin.

It is still the truest statement ever made about employees.

People are your most important asset!

The energy industry is global by nature and it is imperative that an operator has in place a robust efficient employment arrangement that allows flexibility and ease of movement of its workforce across borders whilst ensuring compliance with all appropriate legislation. This also includes the issues of work permits, visas and other immigration matters.

It is also important not to lose sight of the fact that each member of your workforce will one day want to retire and will want to do so knowing that there will be no need to worry about pension, health cover and all the other benefits that are often thought about when it is really too late to do so.

OIS successfully completes sixteenth rigless suspended well abandonment campaign Offshore Installation Services (OIS), an Acteon company, has successfully completed its 16th rigless suspendedwell abandonment campaign involving multiple operators in the Southern North Sea. The multi-operator model for programmes of this kind can deliver significant customer benefits in

terms of cost-effectiveness. A total of nine mudline wells in categories 1, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 were abandoned during the operation including four on behalf of GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd. and two for RWE Dea. The scope of work for OIS, part of Acteon’s activity and resource management business, included the initial approval processes; formulating the contracting strategy; developing detailed procedures; procurement; appointing specialist service providers; overall logistics; and recycling and disposing of the recovered wellheads.

OIS conducted the two-phase abandonment operation from a chartered DP2-class anchor-handling tug supply vessel (AHTS). During phase one, a proprietary twin lowpressure packer tool from Acteon sister company Claxton Engineering Services Ltd. was deployed through the vessel’s moon pool to set cement plugs across all the casing annuli.

The second phase involved abrasive severance of the wells using Claxton Engineering’s SABRE cutting tool.

“We have a strong track record in providing commercially efficient decommissioning solutions which are particularly important for nonrevenue-generating assets,” said OIS vice president of commercial and business development Tom Selwood.

“Multi-operator campaigns such as this, enable operators to share the associated costs which, when combined with the rigless nature of our offering, makes this the most cost-effective way to comply with UK oil and gas decommissioning legislation.”

Flourishing accountancy firm grows it workforce North East accountancy practice Evolution LLP has expanded its team by recruiting a talented trainee to help drive the business forward.

Oil and Gas firm set to expand again OIL AND GAS engineering firm FES International is already planning a further expansion to its business, after moving into its new manufacturing base at the start of the year.

Flexible Engineered Solutions moved into new state-of-the-art premises as part of a multi-million pound investment programme at the start of the year but a string of new orders mean that the firms already considering expansion.

FES International, which specialises in manufacturing fluid transfer systems for subsea oil and gas extraction, moved to its new 35,000sq ft manufacturing headquarters in North East England in January, but with a number of big deals in the pipeline the firm is already considering adding a further 10,000 sq ft expansion to the

new site.

FES managing director Rob Anderson said: “Part of the attraction of the new site was that as well as giving us the modern facilities needed to keep us at the cutting edge of technical innovation, it also gave us the room to grow.

“We never thought we’d be thinking about expanding again so quickly but a large part of our success has been built by meeting clients’ demands whether that is a product delivered inside a tight timeframe or in this case adding further capacity to make sure we can service new orders.”

Since the purchase on the new premises was signed at the end of October 2012, Mr Anderson said the company had already made three new appointments. Recruitment was set to continue, he said, as the firm looked for experienced project managers and design engineers to help deliver the jobs in its growing order book, to clients that include Shell, TOTAL, Mearsk and Bluewater.

Mr Anderson added: “Delivering high quality heavy engineering within the oil and gas industry’s tight timeframes is the challenge and we’ve always risen to it. Our new premises are fully kitted out with brand new machinery and we’re looking forward to maintaining our momentum.

In August last year, the company reported strong growth and more than doubled its turnover on the previous year, to £15m. To help capture new business, the company has wellestablished satellite offices in oilproducing hotspots including Brazil and Singapore and Houston.

The Innovator award honours excellence in innovative technological solutions developed in the UK for the offshore energy sector. Stork was presented with the award last night (21 March) at the 27th SPE Offshore Achievement Awards annual ceremony held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in the UK. The innovative and multi awardwinning system enables the safe removal and replacement of corroded bolts on live flanged connections that have eight bolts or less, with no disruption to ongoing production. This removes the activity from planned or unplanned shutdown programmes thereby reducing downtime / shutdown, the ancillary services required (e.g. nitrogen purging) and the associated demands for additional bed space to cover the shutdown activities.

The technology allows an Operator to eliminate an identified threat of pressurised release almost instantly and improves the safety for offshore operatives and the asset as a whole by reducing the likelihood of hydrocarbon releases which can have a devastating impact offshore.

I have been with NOF Energy for three years and during that period have been involved in various projects aimed at improving the Industry Intelligence service and also setting up a member company network care programme which links to our new CRM system.

The external activity is the favourite part of my role, visiting member companies at their premises for facility tours and meetings, gaining an understanding of their businesses and how NOF Energy can help them achieve their business development objectives.

The overseas market visits are also a really interesting part of the role and have enabled me to visit Operator’s and Contractor’s in Brazil and Libya, amongst others.

THIS YEAR MARKS THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF NOF ENERGY AND, IN THAT TIME, THE ORGANISATION HAS GROWN BEYOND RECOGNITION AND MADE HUGE STRIDES IN ESTABLISHING A ROBUST AND EFFECTIVE PORTFOLIO OF BUSINESS SUPPORT SERVICES THAT PROVIDE VALUABLE SUPPORT TO ITS MEMBERSHIP AND WIDER ENERGY SECTOR SUPPLY CHAIN NETWORK.

• 1988 saw the creation of Northern Offshore Federation. As the North East began to establish its capabilities for the oil & gas sector, on the back of its heritage of ship building and heavy engineering, the Northern Development Company (NDC) collaborated with AMEC to create the Northern Offshore Federation with the aim of creating a regional cluster of suppliers.

• Established during the heyday of oil & gas in the UK, the organisation started life in a small office in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear with just three staff. The Northern Offshore Federation, heavily supported by the NDC and AMEC was solely reliant upon public funding at that point.

• The Northern Offshore Federation’s first Director was Alastair Rodgers (now retired) and its founding Chairman, Dennis Clark (currently Honorary President).

• Some of the first members included Union Transport, LV Shipping and Barrier Ltd.

• 1996 marked the start of a strong period of growth for the organisation.

The on-going development of the UK oil & gas sector led to more work for the supply chain, this also brought a move to new offices in Washington, Tyne & Wear and expansion of the team to seven members of staff.

• Around this time the organisation started to offer international business support with various trade missions being organised for members.

• In 1999 the company name changed to simply NOF and a new brand identity created.

• By 2000 membership had grown steadily and had reached around 150 companies with nine members of staff.

• Due to the growth in international opportunities, the NOF Export Club was born.

• 2002 marked the retirement of Alastair Rodgers and Geoff Race took over as Director.

• In 2005 Geoff Race retired and the newly appointed George Rafferty became Director. George’s appointment was a catalyst for change that would

transform the organisation, creating a strategy for future growth.

• The organisation began to look at new ways to commercialise its activities that would support, and eventually replace, public funding, maintaining its not for profit ethos.

• By 2005 170 companies were in membership.

• 2006 saw a new strategy implemented for the organisation, its primary focus being business development support for members and assistance to diversify into other energy sectors such as nuclear and offshore renewables.

• The new strategy led to the creation of a new company that was fully incorporated and limited by guarantee.

Along with a comprehensive portfolio of services, the business went from a regional body to a national organisation.

• In 2007 Subsea North East was established with NOF Energy providing support.

• Diversification continued in 2011 with the creation of Energi Coast in July, the steering group was launched at a high-profile networking dinner in October.

• 2012 also saw the launch of a new service, Military2Energy Careers Service, which allows members to tap into a skilled engineering resource from the forces.

he hotel was packed to the rafters as guests from across the UK descended on Hardwick Hall to celebrate the successes of NOF Energy and its members in 2012.

Widely regarded as one of the prestigious and enjoyable networking events in the energy sector, the evening, which was sponsored by Wilton Group, MTE and Ward Hadaway, highlighted the achievements of some of the leading supply chain companies and individuals.

“The NOF Energy Annual Dinner and Awards is one of the most anticipated events in our calendar,” explains George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy.

The prestigious Company of the Year Award, sponsored by Stapleton International, was won by Phusion, formerly known as Pearson Harper, a Billingham based company that provides engineering information management services, consultancy and hosted software solutions.

Phusion was awarded the title for its innovation, significant growth in international markets over the past 12 months and the company’s ability to adapt to handle future expectations in the industry.

The celebrations continued with Phusion also winning the Louisiana Economic Development-sponsored International Business Award for delivering significant growth in exports. Over the past five years, Phusion has trebled its staff worldwide and now receives 80% of its revenues from its work internationally.

James Watmore of Darchem Engineering, an award-winning world class engineering company based at Stillington, Stockton-On-Tees, won the award for the Best New Talent, which was backed by the Department for Energy and Climate Change.

OSBIT Power, a Northumberland based company that provides innovative engineering solutions in offshore markets, collected the Innovation and Technology Award, sponsored by SMD.

James, who completed an Advanced Apprenticeship and trained as a welder/fabricator at South West Durham, had already gained national recognition in the sector as Nuclear Apprentice and Supply Chain Apprentice of the Year.

Judges acknowledged that OSBIT Power had researched the market to identify a clear innovation opportunity, had developed a robust, but unique, solution to a real industry problem and had overcome significant problems during the development process

The Awards, as ever, created an even more celebratory atmosphere at the event, priming guests for a fantastic meal and brilliant entertainment.

And, no sooner had the last note been piped by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, the networking really got going and talk of next year’s event was not far from many people’s lips.

George continued: “Thanks to our headline sponsors; Wilton Group, MTE and Ward Hadaway, together with the support of our members, everyone had a wonderful evening celebrating our exceptional and innovative industry.

“I have already had companies enquiring about next year’s Annual Dinner and we look forward to hosting a fantastic, and quirky, event yet again.”
