A QUESTION FOR...
District Editor
Vivian Thai What are the best and worst aspects of your job? The best aspect of my job is getting to see the amazing newsletters that club editors send out as well as forming relationships with club editors! I want to be someone who club editors can reach out to and it makes me happy when I am able to communicate with club editors. The worst aspect of my job, unfortunately, would probably be the frustration of participation rates. I am trying my hardest to increase participation this year, and it can be disappointing when the participation rate is not increasing as much as I hoped. Nevertheless, I am persisting, and I hope to reach out to all of you.
Find the Suns!
There are many sun icons scattered about the newsletter. How many are there? First two participants to submit correct amount to our remind or email to keyclubnghs@gmail.com earns an hour. 04

HUNGER BUSTER We packover 2,000 lunches for the children of low income family around the DISD district. Hunger Buster provides the children with a bag of a sandwich, applesauce, apple, and a cookie to take home in place of their third meal of the day, so they won't be starving at home.

Habit of Humanity Key Club helped Brenda reorganize her belongings and cleaned her home so that it's easier to access basic items, such as plates or utensils. We also helped her donate many of her items.
06
We counted every single item in a box and kept track of how much of that specific item was in a box. Then we sorted each item by its purpose. It took two hours to organize and keep inventory on all of the items.

SATISFACTION Dustin Dong, Webmaster
From the time people were born, I felt like there was a specification for who someone should be. Whenever that may be regarding anyone’s work life, emotions, attitude, there was always a persona he or she was suggested to follow. I struggled commuting an issue, a problem, a thought. The hidden persona was that I never felt satisfied with myself that I did enough. That was the difficulty of mine in Key Club. How do I come off to others? How do I respond when others question my authority? How do you push onward while not coming off as over-controlling? From the events onward, I always question if I did the right thing. Did I make the right choices for the group? Did I take the right routes? Did I do the best for Key Club and everyone in it in 08 order to help our community as a whole?
As a perfectionist, there is no such thing as making the right choice. After working with Key Club for a few years, my perfectionism was placed to sleep, and I transformed into an optimist. Before then, how would I know if I was making the right choices? The more I thought about it; the more confusing it got. Then I realized, that the concept of this wonderful organization was to help others in need. As long as you could make someone else’s day better, it was a win. Focusing on the small tiny details always held me down, I had to step back, enjoy the whole process, and let everything go. Then, I could celebrate the victories and the process that was made. I believe that we can make our planet better through leadership. The lesson I learned was that everyone has shady days, but the ones who push through being satisfied with what they have done in the little steps of volunteering will ultimately succeed.
The difficulties that you face in Key Club will make you wellrounded. I eventually came to accept the fact that I don’t deal with my difficulties; I accept and push through them because I know it will make me stronger. The problems will eventually solve themselves out through constant perseverance. A quote that I apply towards my life when the tough times come was “It’s a slow process, but quitting won’t speed it up. The moment when you want to quit is the moment when you need to keep pushing.”

A SUMMER
WITH KEY CLUB Muhammad Basil, 2nd Vice President Key club has influenced my summer in a big and positive way. Every time I volunteer, I feel like I’ve done something positive for the community whether it’s washing cars for free or picking up trash in our local park. Every time I volunteer it makes me feel good about myself, and it also encourages others to help the community. Key club has made my summer so much better and working with all of the officers is so much fun, and hearing a simple “thank you for volunteering” from someone that is a passer by makes the volunteers feel so good about themselves. Key club has also kept me occupied during the summer. Instead of playing games or hanging out with friends, I can hang out with my friends while volunteering with the members or the 12 officers of key club. Key club has also provided me -
with so much insight to the current event or place. It shows us how things work in the background of the places we go or maybe even work at. The insight provides to how you things work, so if you volunteer you can see how your favorite places function in the background. Key club has also given me so many opportunities during the summer, and I was able to gain more opportunities from those opportunities, such as an event coordinator giving me other contacts to other events, and I gladly accepted and volunteered with the members of key club at those events. It’s given me an opportunity to talk to people from different backgrounds, which gave me a chance to learn about their stories. It’s also improved my communication skills that has been improving to every time I go to an event, which will help me a lot in life, such as giving speeches or even just talking to a stranger. Key club has also influenced me to be more productive and aware of what’s happening in my life due to the constant work that we have to do while at the events. Whenever you work constantly at an event, you feel more productive, and it can affect your life at school, keeping you more focused and more attentive during class. Because at key club events, you have to pay attention to everything around you, and if you miss the smallest detail, it will affect your day for the worse. This is how key club has influenced my summer and life.
