Our First Meeting

August 19th: As the school year starts, our first meeting approaches quickly! We have had our first board meeting of the school year on August 17th and we plan to have our first general meeting on August 22nd. We have some surprises planned for the students that attend our first meeting. We plan to continue our annual tradition of having pizza for the students that attend, and we also plan on giving away some of our old Key Club Shirts during the meeting. For the meeting, we will also have about 100 membership application forms ready for the students to get if they would like. For the meeting agenda, we plan on having officer introductions, informing the students of member requirements, notifying them of upcoming volunteer event opportunities, and announcing our first social of the year! Our first social is to be held in the cafeteria on September 9th, where we will have food and activities for members to participate in. We have had the morning announcements announce our first general meeting and have hung up many flyers around the school to help let the students know about our first meeting.

I am looking forward to seeing the turnout for the meeting as well as meeting the future North Garland Key Club Members.

August 22nd: The turnout for our first general meeting was amazing! Our half of the cafeteria was packed with people waiting for the meeting. Our meeting went as planned with a few minor setbacks as we planned on having the cafeteria set up earlier than we actually did. The pizza arrived later than we planned, which set the meeting back a little bit. However, we still started and ended the meeting promptly.

Before starting the meeting, the people got excited when they saw the pizza that was set up. The energy that everyone had at the

meeting was unexpected for me. There was applause after every officer introduction, excitement from the crowd as we got ready to throw the old Key Club shirts, and a bunch of people grabbing membership forms and pizza after the meeting ended. I feel as if our first meeting was really successful,

and I hope that many of the people present at our first meeting will become members of the North Garland Key Club. I also hope we left a good impression on them and that they will attend our many upcoming events. Hopefully, this meeting is just the start of an amazing year for the North Garland Key.

A Lot To Learn

Being completely honest, there are many aspects that I could improve to perform better as Vice President of Key Club. As I head into my Junior year, all my advanced classes are piling more and more work everyday. This has forced me to focus more on my academics than Key Club, which is something that I wished would never happen when I applied for an officer position. Due to the excessive amount of work, Key Club hasn’t really been a top priority for me. I’ve had no time to help search for new volunteering opportunities for our members, so most of the work went to the president. I kept on writing my article until the last minute, which caused more work for the editor. This is not something I want for my fellow officers. As Vice President, it is my duty and responsibility to assist not only the members of Key Club, but also my fellow board members. Everyone is working just as hard as me, and yet I’m the only one not contributing any work. This is something that I want to and need to change immediately for the sake of my fellow board members and Key Club.

. I hope to find a better way to organize all my work and put in as much effort into Key Club as I do into my academics.

I’ve realized that Key Club is something that I cherish. The memories I’ve created are something that I hope others will be able to do; however, without me being there to help Key Club expand to its full potential, then that will never be possible. I need to step up my game and fulfill my duty as Vice President. Starting now, I will be putting more effort into Key Club. I will browse for more events to help my fellow

\presidents relieve some workload, as well as help them type new documents for meetings. I will also check up with other I want to and need to change immediately for the sake of my fellow board members

officers to see if they need help with anything. My teamwork skills haven't been the greatest throughout my life, but I plan to improve that. I will also be interacting more with the members of Key Club to help my social skills. By attending events, I can interact and hopefully

create new memories for the members. There needs to be someone that the members can look up to, and if it’s not any of the other officers, then I need to be there as an option for them. Because if I want Key Club to reach its maximum potential, then I better be the Vice President that I was meant to be.
