A QUESTION FOR...

District Editor

Vivian Thai

What has Key Club taught you thus far? Key Club has taught me the importance of service, of course, but also how time community is absolutely priceless. It taught me how much I wanted to immerse myself in those feelings. I feel that time management can be overlooked when talking about Key Club's impact, but it has definitely taught me how crucial time management skills are. My job has many different elements, and if my time management skills were where they are before Key Club, I would definitely not be able to keep up right now.

Don't forget! If you take photos at events, you may send them to Remind or keyclubnghs@gmail.com and earn hours! 06

R E A C H F O R T H E S T A R S

QUYEN TRAN PRESIDENT

Goals: Make the members feel more welcomed Make the club feel more like a group of friends rather than an actual club Raise awareness for thirst project, march of dimes, children miracle hospital Have more active members Commentary: I genuinely believe that the club depend heavily on the members. Without the members participating in every single activity or even bother to open up to the officers and the rest of the clubs.

In the past 2 years that I have been an officer of North Garland Key Club, I noted every ups and down fall of the club. Yes, there may not be a bright side to every single club, there will be miscommunication between officer and the members, and some mistakes that occurred throughout the year. I advocate that the members and the club need to have an open mind before judging the situation at hand. That is why I decided to run for the President position. I want to bring the joy of helping the community to the members in addition to providing my members with opportunities of showcasing their leadership skills. My ultimate goal for this year is to have more of our members more engaged in Key Club. The more members can engage in a project or service, the more we can make an impact in our community. Recently there is only a handful of members who are constantly attending our events on the weekends. Which is understandable since the majority of our members tend to be more academic focus, have ride problems, or simply just isn’t that motivated when it comes to volunteering. As an officer of the club, I would check the members hours to see who need to attend more events, then I would have a 1 on 1 talk with them to see why they can’t attend our events, and finally I would offer them more event opportunities or I would create a small event so that members who are in the same situation as them can get their hours. From past experiences when talking to the members who are unmotivated to volunteer, I would make an effort to get to know them personally because some of the new members tend to not attend events because they have no one to talk to; that’s when I come in and ensure them that I will help them out.

MUHAMMAD BASIL 2ND VICE PRESIDENT

Learning Learning from from Key Club Club Key From the work we do as Key Club officers/members by volunteering and helping others, it shows us the light that the world is missing. We help all sorts of people and it only takes one smile or one “thank you” to have your life changed in a way you couldn't possibly imagine, when you see a person that you have helped, smile at you or give a simple “thank you” it gives you a feeling that you can only feel when you help others, it gives you of feeling of wanting to do it again and wanting to be apart of making the world a better place.

From time to time I will see our members go to Key Club events not to help others but to get their school required hours, but when they come back they always ask me whether or not we are having the week of, because they loved helping those people so much that they wanted to go back and help even more people. Key Club has built peoples purposes, mine included, due to the key club being the help it is, it has helped me find my purpose in life, which is to help others and make others smile, it has made me a more humble, kind and generous person.

Key Club has influenced what I want to become when I am older, I want to become someone that can change the world, put smiles on others faces, I want to be someone that someone else can rely on, I want to be a person that gives others hope. Before Key Club I was a shy and quiet person around those I wasn't comfortable with but now I will willingly take my time out of the day to help someone in need of help, whether it is a random stranger sitting alone on the street or if it is just someone in school friend or not. Joining Key Club was by far one of the best decisions I have made, not only did I find my purpose in life through Key Club but I am able to help others more easily through attending the events Key Club provides for its members and officers. Key club has shaped my character that is better for those around me. Without a doubt Key Club has molded my future and character for the better.
