Overlander Days works to recapture heritage The North Shore is on a roll and they’re going to celebrate it with a new family festival called Overlander Days! “One of the things that people asked me when I first started here was Why isn’t there a summer family fun festival on the North Shore?” says Steven, the new executive director at the North Shore BIA. “We have great festivals in Kamloops - at Riverside Park, up on the hill, all over the place - but we don’t have one that the North Shore owns and really runs.” And so Overlander Days was born. “We want to show off the North Shore to families in the summertime – especially McDonald Park,” says Steven, adding that the park itself is its own great story of transition on the North Shore. “It used to be a park where nobody went, but the community around it rallied. They got the support of the city and other community members and they revitalized McDonald Park. Now it’s a beautiful, safe, clean green space for families to use, with a playground, a splash park and a great outdoor pool.” Overlander Days will be using most of the park in order to fit all of the activities they have planned on site for people of all ages. A live music stage will be home to a variety of entertainment all day long, and will be emceed by cowboy artist, poet and musician Jeremy Willis,
