NISSAN

Navara wins Pick-up of the Year at the Honest John awards Another award win in the books for Nissan as the Navara has taken the top honours at this year’s Honest John awards. The awards themselves are one if the UK’s highestprofile automotive awards. The accolade was awarded by the readers of Honest-John Vans, a publication that takes insight from over 2.3 million website users in order to decide the most sought-after motors in each category. Honest John Vans editor, Dan Powell, said: “Cheaper to run, better equipped and more rewarding to drive than most of its rivals, the Nissan Navara has become the standard by which all other pick-ups should be judged. A favourite with our readers, the Navara provides a class-leading carrying and towing experience that makes it a dependable choice for operators who need a heavy duty 4x4 workhorse.” Unlike many of the other automotive awards that are given out in the industry, the Honest John awards are decided by the users that live with and seek the models in question. Awards are given to the vehicles that have stirred up the most interest among the 2.3 million users over the last year. Sebastian Bosslet, Navara Product Manager at Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, said: “Thanks to its peerless combination of comfort, performance, payload and rugged capability, the Navara has been a huge success since it was introduced in 2016. “It’s popular with private and business customers alike, and is clearly a huge hit with the users of one of the UK’s best-loved commercial vehicle comparison sites.” The Navara is available, brand new, nearly new and used at Norton Way Nissan, as we regularly hold an impressive stock of each, with an unmissable range of offers available. FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE ALL-NEW XCEED

ast month, the first official image of the new Kia XCeed was released to the public. It’s stylish, expressive and entirely contemporary in design, paving a new way for the new CUV (Crossover utility Vehicle) segment. A segment that offers a new, sporty alternative to the traditional larger SUV’s. The new swept back, coupe like appearance of the XCeed follows suit with the newly released and utterly stunning ProCeed. The new design direction is all thanks to Kia’s European design centre in Frankfurt, Germany. While its raised driving position offers a higher, clearer view of the road ahead, it’s elevated ride height with lower hip point give the car a sportier driving position than your traditional SUV. This allows the car to retain the sporty sleek form of a coupe, while offering all of the perks of a large SUV.

While the XCeed is a CUV, with compact styling, you can expect the interior space and luggage capacity to be comparable to Europe’s best-selling SUVs. Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Motors Europe, comments: “The sporty design and demeanour of the new Kia XCeed CUV makes it more innately desirable than many taller, larger SUVs. HONDA E PLATFORM AND BATTERY DETAILS UNVEILED

READ MORE ABOUT HONDA'S NEW E PLATFORM

onda have finally released details of the battery, chassis and charging details for its upcoming, highly anticipated Honda e compact electric car. This is a brand-new model, built from the ground up as Honda’s first car to be built on a dedicated electric platform. The car will be powered by a water-cooled lithium-ion high-capacity battery that will either be charged by a Type 2 AC connection or a CCs2 DC rapid charger with LED charging status indication. Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, commented: “Confirmation of the chassis, platform, battery and charging details of the Honda e marks a key milestone in our preparations to unveil the final production version of the model later this year. I’m looking forward to seeing the Honda e Prototype in action for the first time in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month.”

Chassis and platform Honda have built the e platform to suit urban environments, which required precise and responsive driving experience. To deliver this, Honda ensured that the car has a perfect 50:50 weight distribution with a low centre of gravity. This will ensure that the car is built for optimal handling and stability. The power from the high-torque powertrain will be delivered through rear wheel drive to ensure that the car can apply maximum power and traction and steering at high speeds. With dimensions similar to that of the original Mini, largely known as one of the best handling cars of all time, both with compact size and next to no overhang, the Honda e delivers next-gen small car agility. Not only does this make it a safe car to drive, but an exhilarating one too. It will also make it easy to fit into tight spaces – an essential feature for inner city driving.

UPDATES TO THE NEW SUPERB FACELIFT MODEL

A

s orders for the new SUPERB facelift model open from 2 July, we thought it would be a good time to check out what’s new on the model’s midlife update. Full info on the new SUPERB’s engine line up and technical data is still to be released, but with production for the new model beginning in the week starting 8 July and cards expecting to be landing with dealers towards the end of August, it’s time to think about getting your order in. So, what’s new? Starting with the car’s sleek exterior, Skoda have treated the SUPERB to a newly designed front and rear end, for a premium look. New LED headlights and fog lights add a nice touch to the front end, while at the back, the SUPERB now just has SKODA in bold lettering, instead of featuring the old SKODA roundel. Opt for the SE-L trim and above and you get a chrome strip that will run along the tailgate and into the newly re-designed LED tail lights with animated indicators. Inside the car, more updates follow with the SUPERB receiving even more equipment, adding to the standard specification and offering even more incentive to buy.

Engines So far, we only have info on the 2.0 TSI 190PS DSG engine, which is now available on certain trims, and the hugely efficient petrol hybrid engine/powertrain as seen on the VW Passat GTE.

What are the facelift changes? • The larger grille now bears double slats and is a little further down the front bumper • Narrower headlights reach the grille • LED headlight technology isstandard for the dipped and high beam • The new ‘ŠKODA’ block lettering replaces the brands badge • LED spotlights project ‘ŠKODA’ onto the ground when the doors are opened, as part of the optional ambient lighting (SE L and above) • At the rear, a horizontal chrome trim connects the full LED tail lights (SE L and above) • New 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels and the colours Crystal black and Race blue (exclusive to SportLine Plus) have been added
