The museum offers a specific insight into the social history of Nottingham, and the objects used by local people over the last few centuries. Housed in five 17th century cottages the Museum of Nottingham Life has a variety of intriguing attractions, including: the history of the Brewhouse Yard site, reconstructed rooms, shops and gallery displays featuring toys and stories. There’s also a reconstructed Victorian schoolroom in the adjacent Rock Cottage.

These take place at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm (subject to demand), last approximately 45 minutes, and take in medieval cloisters, splendid Victorian room settings and even the private apartments of Byron. THE ART OF ADVERTISING JOHN PLAYER’S 2 JULY - 25 SEPTEMBER NOTTINGHAM CASTLE John Player & Sons was established in Broad Marsh in 1877. The company went on to become a major presence in the city, employing thousands of local people on its site in Radford. This exhibition charts the evolution of the tobacco firm’s advertising approaches, beginning in the 1880s and running through until the 1960s. The pieces reflect changing attitudes in society, as well as developments in graphic design and marketing practices. The exhibition features "The Sailor and The Showcards", a film created by Nottingham Museum's Young Arts Collective and playwright Andy Barrett.
