THE ART OF ADVERTISING JOHN PLAYER’S 2 JULY - 25 SEPTEMBER NOTTINGHAM CASTLE John Player & Sons was established in Broad Marsh in 1877. The company went on to become a major presence in the city, employing thousands of local people on its site in Radford. This exhibition charts the evolution of the tobacco firm’s advertising approaches, beginning in the 1880s and running through until the 1960s. The pieces reflect changing attitudes in society, as well as developments in graphic design and marketing practices. The exhibition features "The Sailor and The Showcards", a film created by Nottingham Museum's Young Arts Collective and playwright Andy Barrett.
