THE EDUCATION SPACE - NEWSLETTER - NEWS
A Letter from our CEO We have been working in partnership with schools and academies during this unprecedented period of managing the response to COVID-19. Headteachers, Governors and school communities have faced and dealt with huge challenges. As we approach the end of the academic year, the government has stated the expectation that schools prepare to open to all pupils in September. To support your planning, NPW has devised a service checklist that includes a range of services schools can access. In the last 3 months we have sent quotes for over ÂŁ1m in IT equipment, facilitated over 400 virtual governor meetings, trained over 380 staff in blended First Aid qualifications and in March alone responded to over 300 critical incident calls. We have also had numerous requests for outsourcing school support functions and experienced an increasing demand for new training courses. The context for education is fast moving and it is unknown exactly where we will be in September. We will work proactively and flexibly with you in preparing for opening fully in September, whilst acknowledging the possibility of a second wave. We are encouraging schools to work with us and specify any bespoke or new requirements they have for the next academic year by the end of this term, these may be part of an SLA you have already procured or an add-on service. From everyone at NPW and The Education Space we hope that you are able to have a restful summer break and look forward to continuing to work with you in the new academic year. Anna Crispin NPW Chief Executive Officer

15th National Title in the Bag for St Bon’s Basketballers St Bonaventure’s School
Did you know that with the national Basketball Championships Final being cancelled back in March St Bon’s has been declared the co champs by default? What superb news. St Bon’s Basketball Coach, Mr Onireti, went on to explain: “I am very pleased to say that St Bon’s are once again national champions or should I say co-champions in both the national schools under 14 boys premier and under 16 premier competitions. “The unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in means we are having to share the title with St Aloysius School in the under 14 boys competition and Shoeburyness High School in the under 16 boys premier competition.
“I had every confidence that we would have been crowned overall winners if those matches took place.” Mr Onireti added: “It has been a good year for the St Bon’s basketball program, we were able to get two teams to the national finals. This is a tremendous achievement for the school and our boys. Knowing that we are co-champions in both the under 14 and 16 competitions due to Covid19 is special. The efforts that went into getting to the final is what we will be celebrating, I am extremely proud of the teams and our coaching staff who have taken the time out of their busy schedule to help get the teams to the finals. This makes it St Bon’s 15th national title, a tremendous achievement from a school located in one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK.”
