Farewell Priscilla The Education Space

It is with equal measures of sadness and pride that our esteemed colleague Priscilla Bruce-Annan will be leaving The Education Space at the end of October. Priscilla is taking up a fantastic role in her local borough and will continue working to support children and young people. Priscilla has been a real asset since she joined the company in January 2017. She has been instrumental in coordinating training for Newham school governors/trustees and also worked tremendously hard to develop a company-wide training function to cater for all school requirements, She leaves the Training Service in a much stronger position and will be dearly missed. We wish Priscilla all the best in her new role!

THE EDUCATION SPACE - NEWSLETTER - NEWS

The Future for Training at The Education Space The past year has seen the launch of our Client Portal (clientportal. theeducationspace.co.uk), through which you can access your SLA’s, guides, manuals or processes, purchase/manage training bookings for you or your teams and manage any terminations/cancellations. The past 6 months have been a real challenge for all of us in finding new ways to work and it has been no different for our training team. With face-to-face training being impossible to deliver for nearly 4 months of this year, we have worked with our suppliers to develop a suite of online and remote training options for our schools. We have had record numbers of people making the most of our new online and blended First Aid training courses, which have proved a huge success. Successfully, we have moved large numbers of our training courses (Data Compliance, Governors and MIS) to remote delivery to help ensure you can continue your CPD in the safest way possible. Due to the continued uncertainty surrounding Covid and working practices we are pleased to announce that we have developed a partnership with another online training provider so that we can now offer much more online training including the following areas:

WELLBEING SAFEGUARDING

CORE COMPLIANCE

Life Balance Healthy Living Mindset Attitude Stress Resilience Relaxation Prioritisation Mindfulness Yoga

Fire Awareness Medication Awareness Basic Life Support Bribery Awareness Food Hygiene & Safety Allergens Manual Handling Unconscious Bias

Safer Recruitment Safeguarding & Child Protection (Full) Safeguarding & Child Protection (Essentials) Safeguarding & Child Protection (Governor) Health & Safety Behaviour Management Radicalisation and Extremism (Prevent)

We continue to review and update all training on offer to ensure we can deliver a wide variety of courses for all levels. Our client portal has the ability to recommend different levels of support and CPD pathways to help develop you and your staff within their roles. A new training annual will be issued to schools in the coming weeks, we will also issue one hard copy per school as requested by a number of you in recent weeks. For information on any of our courses you can continue to contact the training team on 0208 249 6900 (option 2), email training@theeducationspace.co.uk or use our client portal clientportal.theeducationspace.co.uk

CHANGES TO HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR NEWHAM SCHOOLS Following the changes to the London Borough of Newham’s (LBN) Health and Safety Operational Arrangements for Schools, as advised in communications from LBN, Newham schools are now required to have arrangements in place that provide them with a competent Health & Safety Support Service, that meets the local authorities minimum requirements, by 30th September 2020. The Education Space are pleased to announce we have developed a new Health & Safety Support Package which has been endorsed by LBN. The offer we have developed is underpinned by Southhalls, a nationally accredited provider of Health and Safety. By partnering with them we will be able to add capacity and additional expertise to our already existing highly regarded offer as part of the School Management Support Service, led by Geetha Unnithan. As many Newham schools already purchase the Health & Safety Audit, we are also pleased to advise that the cost of the Health & Safety Audit will be deducted from the cost of the full service. The full service consists of the following elements: • • • •

2 Health & Safety Audits 1 Day follow up guidance/support for actions arising from the audits Unlimited access to advice/guidance from our helpdesk Access to our Health & Safety System for use throughout the school

We also offer a comprehensive version of the package which includes greater support for those schools that require it. To find out more or if you have any questions please contact the Business Development Team on 0208 249 6900 (option 1) or LetsTalk@theeducationspace.co.uk

Hallsville Primary remembers the 10th September 1940 Hallsville Primary School

On the 10 September 2020, KS2 pupils at Hallsville Primary remembered the 10th September 1940. It was 80 years ago that Hallsville Primary was bombed during ww2. Nobody knows how many lives were lost. The school at the time was being used as a refuge for families in Canning Town. 73 deaths were actually reported but it is understood that between 400 - 600 lives were lost. Pupils marked this event by studying their

history and creating crosses to mark out the number of presumed deaths. Agate Momentum Trust’s leader Ms Edge reported: ‘The Trust’s name honours the history of East London, Canning Town. The name ‘Agate’ comes from the street where the school once stood which no longer exists. Agate Momentum Trust: ‘Striving to provide a world class educate to create world class citizens.’ Visit our website: https://www.agatemomentumtrust.org
