Throughout an unusual senior year, the members of the Class of 2021 made the most of their time at NSA by finding new ways to come together. Playing cornhole, watching movies and Zooming with virtual classmates became the norm. Themed costume competitions among

advisory groups encouraged camaraderie, and breakfast burritos reigned supreme. The NSA spirit was evident this year, and these fabulous young men and women demonstrated that regardless of adversity, they have the ability to not only overcome any situation but to also find the silver lining. They are bright, engaged, involved and ready for the next steps in their lives. It is for all these reasons and more that the Class of 2021 is destined to do great things. Congratulations Class of 2021

Brianna Kay Barnes

Rylee Madison Bono*

A Saint since kindergarten, Brianna was a dedicated member of the Varsity Girls' Soccer Team as well as the Connecting with Kids Club throughout Upper School. An avid artist, she won multiple awards both at NSA and in the community for her work. Brianna is excited to attend James Madison University.

Rylee has been a member of NSA’s Class of 2021 since kindergarten. During her time in Upper School, she was an integral member of the Varsity Girls' Volleyball Team. She never lost a match at home, and she was recognized in her junior season for reaching 1,000 digs and in her senior season for achieving 100 career wins. Rylee was also a member of the Varsity Lacrosse Team. She was the co-founder and president of the American Sign Language Club, a dedicated member of the Roc Solid Club as well as a Saints Ambassador. Rylee will attend the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.

Domino Noell Borrell* After joining the Class of 2021 in the sixth grade, Domino quickly found her place at NSA. An accomplished artist, scholar and athlete, Domino excelled in many areas. As a runner, she competed on the Varsity Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams. She was also a six-year member of the NSA Color Guard, and she held the position of captain as a senior. Domino will attend Virginia Commonwealth University.

Arya Ikshvaku Barot*

Valedictorian

Arya joined the NSA family in third grade. Since that time, a love of learning has been his guiding principle, and he was involved in a variety of groups and organizations on campus. During his time in Upper School, he was a member of the Robotics Team, the Academic Team as well as a founding member of the Social Justice Club. He was also a member of the Varsity Cross Country, Swimming, Tennis and Track and Field Teams. Arya will continue his education as an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia.

Chaitanya Harshad Barot* Class Vice President

A leader in many areas, Chetu was vice president of the class, vice chair of the Honor Council and a Saints Ambassador. He was also a proud member and founder of the One More Goal Foundation Club and a member of the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team. Chetu will attend the University of Virginia.

Jackson Lane Bolling Jackson has been a dedicated and involved member of the NSA family since he joined the Class of 2021 in kindergarten. In Upper School, he was a four-year member of both the Varsity Football and Lacrosse Teams. He also participated in the Roc Solid Club, where he helped with multiple playset building projects over the years. Jackson is looking forward to attending the Maritime Academy at Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy

Having been at NSA since pre-kindergarten, Reese is an original member of the Class of 2021. In the Upper School, she was a decorated student-athlete. A member of the Varsity Softball Team since her eighth grade year, she was recognized with First Team All-State and All-Conference honors and helped the team to win two state titles. She was also a member of the Varsity Girls' Basketball and Girls' Tennis Teams and participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness and Roc Solid Clubs. She will attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she will continue her academic and softball careers.

Autumn Alyssa Chapman As the vice president of the Political Awareness Club and the president of the Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Club, Autumn always aimed to improve both her local and school communities through her volunteer work. She was also a member of the American Red Cross Club. Autumn will attend George Mason University.

Charles Henry Cox* Henry joined the Class of 2021 in the sixth grade. He was a member of the Varsity Lacrosse Team. He was also the president of the Boys Home of Virginia Club. Despite his long drive to and from school from North Carolina, he remained dedicated to all aspects of his time at NSA. Henry will attend North Carolina State University.

Jeffrey Scott Dailey* An original member of the Class of 2021, Jeffrey has been an NSA Saint for 14 years. Throughout his time in the Upper School, he was a member of the Varsity Soccer, Lacrosse and Football Teams. An accomplished photographer, Jeffrey’s work appeared in NSA’s Annual Art Show and Sale. He was also a founding member of the Audio/Visual Club. Jeffrey plans to continue his film studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Matthew Joseph Dennis Matthew joined the NSA community his freshman year and quickly found his home. During his time as a Saint, he was an integral member of the Varsity Boys' Soccer Team and served as captain his senior year. Matthew is excited to further both his academic and athletic careers at Bluffton University.


Jackson Andrew Greene III Jackson has been a Saint since pre-kindergarten. In his 14 years at NSA, he made a positive impact on the Saints community in many ways. During his time in Upper School, he was a member of the Varsity Football and Lacrosse Teams, including the 2019 State Championship Lacrosse Team. Jackson was also dedicated to the Roc Solid Club, supporting the organization in and out of school by participating in playset builds and fundraisers. Jackson will attend Virginia Tech.

Adrianna Marie Harper* A Saint since kindergarten, Adrianna spent many years impressing the NSA community with her dedication to competitive gymnastics. During her time in the Upper School, she was an active member of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club, serving as co-president. She was also a member of the Connecting with Kids Club. Adrianna will attend Georgia Southern University.

William Mark Elliott Hendrickson Will has left an indelible mark on NSA as an original member of the Class of 2021. He participated in Varsity Track and Field for the past four years, and everyone knows that Will is determined to pursue his dream of becoming a motor sports driver, either in esports or in real life. He will attend the University of Mary Washington.

Haleigh Marie Hobbs* Joseph Griffin Duggan Griffin has been making people smile at NSA since he became a Saint in pre-kindergarten. Throughout his time in the Upper School, he was a four-year member of the Varsity Football Team and was also a member of the Varsity Basketball Team. He was an active member of the Roc Solid Club and helped with numerous playset assemblies. In his senior year, he created the Student Leaders Association as a way to build camaraderie and spirit within the NSA student body. Griffin will attend Virginia Tech, where he will also continue his football career.

Jenna Nicole Elswick* Dedicated to academics, athletics and community, Jenna has made a huge impact in all areas since arriving at NSA in the sixth grade. During her time in Upper School, she was a member of the Roc Solid Club, and she created a tie-dye T-shirt fundraiser to benefit NSA athletics. She was a member of the Varsity Basketball and Softball Teams, where she earned First-Team All-State honors and two state titles in softball. Jenna will be furthering her academic and softball careers at Virginia Wesleyan University.

Valerio James Federici Val was proud to serve as the NSA Band’s drum major as well as a section leader of the concert and jazz bands. As a baritone sax player, he was awarded first chair in All-District Band for three years. Val will attend the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music at Old Dominion University, where he will continue his academic and music careers.

It didn't take long for Haleigh to fit right into the NSA family when she joined the Class of 2021 in the ninth grade. Dedicated to community service both at school and in the greater community, she was actively involved in the Breast Cancer Awareness and the Roc Solid Clubs at NSA. She was also a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Team, and she worked in NSA’s Extended Care program, where she made a positive impact on the lives of the youngest Saints. Haleigh will attend Flagler College.

Hannah Tristan Holland* Hannah’s dedication brought renewed purpose to the Breast Cancer Awareness Club during her leadership as co-president, and she loved her time as a soprano in NSA’s Advanced Chorus. Not just a volunteer and a vocalist, Hannah was also an athlete and the captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Team. Hannah is excited to start her next adventure at the University of Tampa.

Jacob Thomas Holland Jake arrived at NSA in the second grade. He joined the NSA Soccer Team in the sixth grade and was a member throughout his time in Upper School. As an Advanced Chorus student, Jake made his acting debut in the winter musical, "Les Misérables." He was an active member of the Breast Cancer Awareness and the One More Goal Foundation Clubs. Jake will attend Flagler College.

Joshua Xavier Fenner* It wasn’t long after Josh joined the Class of 2021 in the eighth grade that he made his mark as an incredibly talented student, musician and athlete. Josh is a five-year member of the NSA Band Program. In Upper School, he participated in marching, jazz and concert bands, where he also served as a section leader and band manager. Outside of NSA, he earned All-District recognition, along with the Quincy Jones Instrumentalist Award. As an athlete, Josh was a member of the Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams, and he helped set a school record for the 4x400. Josh was also a dedicated member of the Haitian Awareness and Connecting with Kids Clubs. He will continue his academic and musical pursuits at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.

Stephen Paul Gottlieb A Saint since kindergarten, Stephen was involved in a variety of activities on campus during his time at NSA. He played baseball and football throughout his years in the Upper School, and he was known for the amount of time he spent in the gym. He also enjoyed helping others through his membership in the Connecting with Kids, Breast Cancer Awareness and the Boys Home of Virginia Clubs. Stephen will attend Virginia Tech.

Benjamin David Grady* An original member of the Class of 2021, Ben joined the NSA family in pre-kindergarten. With his unfailing smile and positivity, Ben made NSA a happier place just by being a part of the community. He was a dedicated member of the Varsity Football and Baseball Teams and an active participant in the Roc Solid and Spirit Clubs. He will attend Old Dominion University.

Frances Monroe Hope* Salutatorian

A dedicated student, athlete and equestrian, Frances has been a Saint since the third grade. In Upper School, she competed on the Varsity Swimming Team, serving as team captain, and she was also a member of the Cross Country Team, where she was recognized as an All-Conference athlete. Frances was also a member of the SADD and Social Justice Clubs. She logged more driving miles than any of her classmates, traveling over 120 miles a day to and from school. Frances will attend North Carolina State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Emily Nicole Inscoe* Emily is an original member of the Class of 2021. During her time in Upper School, she was a member of the Roc Solid Club, the Volleyball and Tennis Teams as well as Advanced Chorus. Emily was also a dedicated employee in NSA’s Extended Care program, where she particularly enjoyed working with the prekindergarten students. She will attend Virginia Tech.

Duncan Graham Irvine*

Mallory Winsor Mizelle*

Duncan spent 12 years as a student at NSA. He was a member of the 2019 State Championship Varsity Boys' Lacrosse Team as well as the Varsity Boys' Soccer Team. He was a founding member of the One More Goal Foundation Club as well as the Saints Newspaper. Duncan will attend the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism.

A member of the Class of 2021 since the very beginning, Mallory has been spreading positivity around campus for 14 years. Mallory was most dedicated to the Roc Solid Club, which she led as president. Named most athletic by her peers, Mallory was a member of the Varsity Soccer Team throughout Upper School as well as a member of the Varsity Basketball and Tennis Teams. Mallory supported the work of the Office of Advancement by serving as an intern her senior year. She will attend Virginia Tech.

Jonathan Burroughs Koppelman* Jon arrived at NSA in the sixth grade and quickly established himself as a stellar student, athlete and thespian. During his time in Upper School, he was a member of the Varsity Soccer and Track Teams. He was dedicated to the Connecting with Kids Club as well as all things film: The Saints Broadcasting Network, the Film Club and the Audio/Visual Club. Jon also starred as Jean Valjean in NSA’s production of "Les Misérables." He will continue his pursuit of musical theatre at East Carolina University.

Class Treasurer

Harry has been an NSA Saint since pre-kindergarten. During his time in Upper School, he was a committed teammate on both the Varsity Football and Lacrosse Teams. He was also involved in the Boys Home of Virginia and Roc Solid Clubs. Harry will attend Elon University, where he plans to pursue a degree in music production.

Kimberly Kazira Mugaisi*

Catherine joined the NSA family in Middle School and quickly became committed to the art program. As a dedicated and talented artist and author, Catherine won numerous art awards both at NSA and in the greater community. She also participated in NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month, each year and was secretary of the B.O.O.K. Club and co-president of the Pokemon Club. Catherine will attend the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Kim took the Upper School by storm when she arrived her sophomore year. She quickly earned numerous leadership positions, including class treasurer, Student Council representative, Saints Ambassador and president of the Connecting With Kids Club. She was also an athlete and was a multi-year member of the Varsity Field Hockey Team. Kim will attend the University of Virginia.

Grant Matthew Lopez

Fletcher Ryan Mutert

Grant joined the NSA family for high school and settled right in. He won the Saints Tank competition in Principles of Economics in 2019, and he enjoyed serving as an intern with the Office of Admissions his senior year. Grant is excited to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level. He will attend Randolph College to further both his athletic and academic careers.

Fletcher joined the NSA Class of 2021 for Upper School. He endeared himself to his classmates when he started the Cooking Club as a freshman. He was also a member of the B.O.O.K. Club and the STEM Club, and he was a stagehand for the NSA Theatre Program. Fletcher will attend Radford University.

Katharine Frances Luzzatto*

Cierra Adrienne O’Keeffe

A lifelong Saint, Katy was proud to be chosen to serve on the Honor Council throughout Upper School, and she served as the chair her senior year. She was a member of the chorus for seven years and was involved in theatre and numerous winter musicals. She was also a member of the Varsity Soccer Team. Katy will attend William & Mary.

Cierra seemed like she’d been a Saint forever from the day she arrived her sophomore year. She served as a Saints Ambassador and was a member of the Varsity Softball and Field Hockey Teams. In 2019, she was awarded Second-Team All-State honors when the Softball Team won the state championship, and she also helped the team to win its second state championship in 2021. She will attend James Madison University.

Carter Gregory Lydon*

Talmond Joseph Old

Carter joined the NSA family in the sixth grade. He was a member of the Sailing Team for seven years, serving as cocaptain of the team. Carter was also dedicated to several clubs in the Upper School, including Connecting with Kids, Model UN and Film Club. He was a member of the Varsity Golf Team, and he also served as an intern in the STEM Innovation Lab. Carter will attend Virginia Commonwealth University, where he plans to study art and design.

A 14-year member of the Class of 2021, Talmond was active in both athletics and the arts. He was a member of the Varsity Baseball Team for seven years, the Varsity Football team for two years and the Band for six years. Talmond will attend the University of San Francisco.

Braedon Patrick McCauley* A Saint since pre-kindergarten, Braedon has an incredible amount of NSA spirit. Throughout his time in Upper School, he was a three-sport athlete each year, participating in soccer, swimming, lacrosse and football. He was elected to the Honor Council by his peers, was an active participant in many student organizations and served the Office of Admissions as a Saints Ambassador each year, culminating in an internship as a senior. A member of Advanced Chorus, Braedon made his theatrical debut in NSA’s production of "Les Misérables." Braedon will attend the University of Tennessee.

Aidan Ross McCullough After joining the NSA family his sophomore year, Aidan was a proud member of the Robotics Team in his junior and senior years. He furthered his interest in all things STEM by serving as an intern in the STEM Innovation Lab his senior year. Aidan will attend Tidewater Community College and plans on transferring to Old Dominion University.

Christian Marquette Middleton Christian joined the Class of 2021 in Upper School. He was a dedicated member of both the Varsity Boys' Soccer and the Track and Field Teams. He was also involved in several clubs, including the Boys Home of Virginia and the Breast Cancer Awareness Clubs. Christian participated in the theatre program first as a stagehand, but he recently entertained the community with his performances. He will attend Longwood University.

Madison Olivia Miller A four-year Saint, Madison was a proud member of the Varsity Track and Field Team and the Varsity Girls' Tennis Team during her time at NSA. She also enjoyed participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness and the Feed the Animals Today Clubs. Madison will attend Flagler College in Florida.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy

Berkley Noelle Puzey Berkley joined the NSA Class of 2021 in fourth grade. She was dedicated to a variety of student clubs in the Upper School, including the French Club, the Breast Cancer Awareness Club and the Roc Solid Club. She was also a member of the Swimming and Cross Country Teams since Middle School. Berkley will attend Virginia Tech.

Madailein Margaret Reynolds* An avid swimmer, Maddy was a member and captain of the Varsity Swimming Team for all four years of Upper School. She was also a dedicated member of several clubs, including the French Club and the Connecting with Kids Club. She will attend Virginia Commonwealth University.

Abigail Catherine Rich* Class President

A natural leader, Abby enjoyed her time as a member of the Judicial Council and as senior class president. She also played Varsity Tennis and enjoyed working with younger students as a member of the Connecting with Kids Club and as an early childhood education intern her senior year. Abby will attend Virginia Tech.


Carter Stone Robinson Carter joined the NSA family as a sophomore and quickly found his place as a member of NSA's Class of 2021. He was involved in the Breast Cancer Awareness Club each year, and he was an integral member of the Varsity Boys' Basketball Team. As a senior, he decided to try something new and had a great time playing football for the first time. Carter will attend Virginia Tech.

Samantha Leigh Schneider* Class Secretary

A Saint since eighth grade, Sam didn’t skip a beat adjusting to life at NSA. She quickly became involved in a variety of activities, and she was elected by her classmates to serve as class secretary every year. Sam participated in a number of sports, including volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, cheerleading and track and field during her time at NSA. Sam will attend the University of South Carolina.

Yanda Shen Ivan joined the NSA family for Upper School and particularly enjoyed his time with the Card Game and Connecting with Kids Clubs. He was also a dedicated artist who pursued his passion by taking art classes each year. Ivan will attend Syracuse University.

Kemauri Martese Spencer Kemauri joined the NSA Class of 2021 in eighth grade. During his time in Upper School, he was dedicated to the Breast Cancer Awareness Club. Kemauri is also a talented athlete and was proud to be a multi-year team captain for basketball and football. In his senior basketball season, he was celebrated for reaching 1,000 career points. Kemauri also received All-State and All-Conference recognition for football. He will continue his academic and football careers at Shenandoah University.

Robert Reid Stambaugh* Reid succeeded in many activities during his seven years at NSA. He was a member of the Varsity Soccer and Varsity Track and Field Teams as well as the concert, marching, and jazz bands. Reid also enjoyed the intellectual competitions inherent in Robotics, Quiz Bowl and the Debate Club. Reid will attend the University of Virginia.

Anthony Alexander Szydlik* Anthony was a student at NSA for 13 years, and he made a positive impact in a variety of areas on campus. He was a section leader in the Band, a proud member of the Connecting With Kids Club and a member of the Varsity Baseball Team. Anthony will attend Elon University.

William Wayne Taylor III* Trace is an original member of the Class of 2021. Recognized throughout Lower, Middle and Upper Schools with the Good Citizenship Award, Trace was known for his kindness. He co-managed the technology student support desk, was team manager of the Varsity Boys' Lacrosse Team and was president of the Pokemon Club. He was also a member of the Connecting with Kids Club and served as a Student Council representative. Trace will attend Randolph-Macon College, where he will also be a member of the eSports Program.

Angelo Paul Enrico Tortolini With wide-ranging interests and a willingness to try something new, Angelo participated in everything from service clubs to sports. He explored his artistic side through various theater performances and participation in Advanced Chorus, and he founded the Feed the Animals Today Club to support local shelters. An avid athlete, he also played soccer and lacrosse. Angelo will continue his lacrosse and academic careers at Methodist University.

Justice Sutton Walters* Class Historian

A talented student and athlete with a desire to serve and an ability to manage a full schedule, Justice excelled in every arena during his six years as a student at NSA. He was a leader in many student organizations, including the Audio/Visual and Spikeball Clubs, and he was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as a Saints Ambassador. A three-sport athlete for all four years in Upper School, he served as a captain for Varsity Soccer, Swimming and Lacrosse. Justice also served as the senior editor of NSA's award-winning yearbook, "The Scroll." He will attend the United States Naval Academy.

Ziyang Wang Andy was an active participant in the arts during his time at NSA. He was a member of the chorus and art programs and had a role in the winter musical, “Les Misérables.” Despite having to attend class virtually from China throughout his senior year, Andy persevered and will attend the University of California, Davis.

Jordan Christopher Ward Jordan joined the NSA community in the fifth grade. During his time in Upper School, he was an active member of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club. He was also a member and captain of the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team as well as the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team. Jordan will attend Old Dominion University.

Hayley Elizabeth Waters A Saint since fifth grade, Hayley enjoyed both the arts and athletic programs. She was a member of the Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams and was section leader of the trumpets in Marching Band. Hayley will attend James Madison University.

Karley Brooke Wetmore* Karley joined the NSA Class of 2021 as a freshman. Her athletic strengths made her an important member of both the Varsity Field Hockey and Softball Teams, and she was a proud member of the Varsity Softball 2019 and 2021 State Championship Teams. She was also an active member of many clubs, including the SADD Club, where she served as an officer. Karley will continue her academic and softball careers at Patrick Henry Community College.

Tristan Charles Williams* Tristan quickly assimilated into the Class of 2021 when he joined the NSA family as a senior. He joined the Connecting with Kids Club and was a member of the Varsity Golf Team. Tristan will attend Virginia Military Institute.

Talmadge Habel Yeatts III Tal has been a Saint since the first grade. As an Upper School student, he was a member of the Varsity Soccer, Football and Lacrosse Teams, including the Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse 2019 State Championship Team. He participated in a variety of student organizations and was a leader in several clubs, including the Boys Home of Virginia and the Boys & Girls Clubs. Tal will attend Virginia Tech.

Ian Ramnaryan Zimmermann* Ian joined the NSA Class of 2021 in kindergarten. As a student in Upper School, he was a dedicated member of the Connecting with Kids and Debate Clubs. He was also a three-sport athlete, competing on the Varsity Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams. As a member of the Upper School Band, Ian participated in marching, jazz and concert bands as well as a small ensemble. Ian will attend Virginia Tech.
