Parecen ser lo mismo, pero no necesariamente lo es. El maestro de ceremonia dirige de manera indirecta o sutil el evento, manteniendo al público consciente de lo que está pasando. Posee la habilidad oral y la experiencia manejando diferentes protocolos. Sabe estudiar a su público y logra que se refleje la logística que se planificó para el evento. Por su parte, el animador impulsa al público a un nivel de disfrute de modo que el evento se convierta en toda una experiencia. “La animación involucra un contacto más cercano con la personas, desarrolla alguna dinámica en medio de la fiesta y entonces entra en lo que es la animación”, establece David Soto, locutor, animador y maestro de ceremonia.
Si las novias supieran que son más las desventajas que las ventajas de comprar su vestido de novia por Internet. Primero, no se debe confiar en todo lo que se ve en la web. Puede ser que te guste una pieza muy elaborada y cuando llega, ¡sorpresa!, los materiales sin de dudosa calidad. Ni hablar del tamaño, lo pides de tu talla y resulta que corre mucho más pequeño, o grande. En definitiva, por ahorrarte algunos dólares te llevarás tremendo dolor de cabeza. AL CONTRATAR AL VIDEÓGRAFO De acuerdo con el experimentado videógrafo Ángel Nieves, es necesario que tomen en cuenta los siguientes detalles a la hora de contratar este servicio. • Deben buscar a un profesional que le haya realizado el mismo servicio a alguien conocido. “Las recomendaciones son todo, pues habla del servicio que podrán esperar”. • Se sugiere hacer una cita con el camarógrafo para ver su trabajos y conocer su personalidad. “Muchas parejas solo se dejan llevar por lo que ven en las redes sociales e Internet y no se toman el tiempo de conocerlo. El día del evento se topan con alguien que no tiene buenas actitudes, no es amable ni está pendiente de los detalles. Esas cosas son importantes”. • Otros puntos que deben compartirle al videógrafo: la cantidad de horas que se requerirá su servicio, el código de vestimenta que debe lucir y los detalles sobre cómo transcurrirá el evento. “Este servicio debe contratarse al menos con año de anticipación. En cuanto al presupuesto, un rango aproximado puede alcanzar hasta los $5000. Todo depende de lo que desee la pareja”, establece el experto.

No es lo mismo Aunque son términos similares, lo cierto es que se trata de hábitos distintos. El vegetarianismo es un tanto más flexible en cuestiones alimentarias, pues admite la ingesta de pescados y lácteos, dejando fuera las carnes rojas. Por su parte, lo que practican el veganismo no consumen ningún alimento que se mueva ni tenga ojos. “Todo lo que consumen es de origen vegetal. Las proteínas las obtienen de los granos y de la soya. En muchas ocasiones, los platillos que se preparan para este sector son mucho más altos en proteínas que un pedazo de carne. Así se garantiza un alto contenido alimentario con un sabor muy rico”, establece nuestra entrevistada.

To start this dining experience, the chef suggests two appetizers: grilled eggplant strips over pico de gallo and a mofongo sandwich stuffed with crunchy sprouts, red cabbage, and passion fruit chutney. This is followed by a cream of root vegetables with lavender spices and eggplant chips as garnish. It’s then the turn for the avocado salad with sautéed chickpeas in bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and clover sprouts. This is topped

Desde entonces, se empezaron a trabajar los biológicos y los orgánicos para dar paso a los veganos. e la fi an e ¿Qué es un vino vegano? A diferencia de otros, este se clarifica con substancias que no provienen de fuentes animales. La clarificación es uno de los procesos de la elaboración del vino para la obtención de un producto limpio, transparente y con mayor estabilidad. Por lo general, se usan claras de huevo o derivados de pescado. En el caso de los vinos veganos se utilizan proteínas clarificantes de origen vegetal o se omite el proceso de clarificación, opción que queda en manos de los enólogos. Los clarificantes veganos pueden obtenerse de papas, guisantes y trigo. En tiempos recientes se usan carragenanos, que son substancias provenientes de algas marinas. La bentonita, el clarificante de mayor uso en la elaboración de vinos veganos, es de origen mineral. Se usa mayoritariamente en los blancos y proviene de la arcilla. ¿Resulta complicado conseguir vinos veganos aquí en Puerto Rico? Es relativamente fácil si van a una tienda especializada que ofrezca variedad en cuanto a distribución se refiere. Para ayudar a los fanáticos de este elixir, el sello vegano está claramente identificado en la etiqueta.

Since then, biological and organic vineyards have been developed to make way for the vegans. Clarifying process What’s a vegan wine? Unlike other wines, this one is clarified with substances that do not come from animal sources. Clarification is one of the processes of winemaking to obtain a clean, transparent and more stable product. Usually, egg whites or fish derivatives are used. In the case of vegan wines, clarifying proteins of vegetable origin are used, or the clarification process is omitted, an option left to the winemakers. Vegan clarifiers can be obtained from potatoes, peas and wheat. In recent times carrageenan, which is a substance derived from seaweed, has been used. Bentonite, the most widely used clarifier in Vegan wine making, is of mineral origin. It is mostly used in white wines and comes from clay. Is it difficult to get vegan wines here in Puerto Rico? It’s relatively easy if you go to a specialty store that offers variety in terms of distribution. To help fans of this elixir, the vegan mark is clearly identified on the label. In terms of taste and aroma there are no differences between these wines and those made in the traditional way. It all depends on the palate, the tastes of each person and the food with which they are paired.

Sí, y dice Marta la etiqueta porque se llama Marta Violeta, ¡bien drama queen! Se trata de un vino aromático, floral y afrutado, elaborado con tres cepas bien adaptadas a esta denominación de origen: Xarello, Macabeo y Moscato. Es un vino agradable, que se sirve fresco y va bien con platos que lleven arroz, vegetales verdes y tubérculos. Por su parte, el vino tinto es de la denominación de origen de Toro. El Matsu, El Recio, añada 2017, es un vino más complejo, elaborado con Tinta de Toro —mejor conocida por estos lares como Tempranillo— por lo que en aroma refleja notas de fruta roja intensa, que se traducen en boca, al igual que notas espaciadas y hasta torrefactas. El posgusto es medio largo y persistente. Por ello merece platos de mayor complejidad y contenido de proteínas vegetales. Estás son solo dos sugerencias para avivar el paladar. Existen más opciones en el mercado y lo mejor que tiene la cultura del vino es que se repasa constantemente. Perfect complement Puerto Rican vegan food is delicious for its variety of textures and combinations. The wines that may best complement the menu you have just seen in this edition of NUPCIAL were selected considering the seasoning, the classic sofrito, and the availability of seasonal produce. We got two options, both from Spain. Why? To see how advanced the industry is and how clear the label is. It’s worth noting that they are both available at reasonable prices. White and red We decided on a white wine from the Penedés region, in Catalonia, specifically the Violet 2018. Yes, and the label says Marta because her name is Marta Violeta, what a drama queen! It’s all about a wine that’s aromatic, floral and fruity, crafted with three strains that are well adapted to this denomination of origin: Xarello, Macabeo and Moscato. It’s a pleasant wine, that is served chilled and pairs well with dishes that include rice, greens and root vegetables. On the other hand, the red wine is from the Toro denomination of origin. El Matsu, El Recio, Vintage 2017, is a more complex wine, crafted with Tinta de Toro – better known in these parts as Tempranillo – so that in the aroma it reflects intense red fruit notes, which translate to the palate, as well as spicy and even roasted notes. The aftertaste is medium-long and persistent. It therefore deserves dishes with greater complexity and vegetable protein content. These are just two suggestions to enliven the palate. There are more options on the market and the best thing about wine culture is that it is constantly being reviewed. The Tuscany style chairs frame the beige silk tablecloth. In the center, Lozano has created an interesting composition. Along with natural flowers, preserved ones also show off, a trend that is currently gaining popularity. “The advantage is that once the event is over, the owners can still reuse them in any room of the house”, explains the expert. e acuerdo con la esteticista Lourdes de Jesús, el protocolo de belleza debe iniciarse tan pronto se establezca la fecha para el enlace matrimonial. “Toda novia desea lucir una piel radiante el día de su boda. Esto ayudará a sentirse más segura ante la mirada de su futuro esposo y ante el lente del videógrafo y el fotógrafo, cuyas imágenes serán admiradas y recordadas por todos los invitados”, establece la propietaria de Loumuá Clinique. “¿Con cuánto tiempo antes de la boda se debe programar esa primera visita?”, preguntamos. “Al menos entre tres y seis meses antes de la boda. Y para irnos a la segura, un año previo. Existen procedimientos mínimamente invasivos pero hay otros -como la aplicación de ácido glicólico- que en la marcha se conocen las reacciones de la piel y se van incorporando protocolos particulares que sean efectivos”, responde la experta a NUPCIAL. A determinar la necesidad En la visita inicial a la clínica de estética se discuten las necesidades y la manera de trabajarlas. “La piel se evalúa con una luz ultravioleta que indica cuán hidratada y saludable está, aparte si existen afecciones que se deban tratar. Ahí se decide la frecuencia de las sesiones (semanal, bisemanal o mensual) y se hacen algunas

Entre las visitas es importante seguir con la rutina de mantenimiento en el hogar que incluya la limpieza diaria tanto en la mañana como en la noche, así como la aplicación de humectantes, crema de ojos, exfoliantes y mascarillas. El filtro solar no puede faltar ya que es el antiarrugas por excelencia”, aconseja nuestra entrevistada. Recomendaciones de la esteticista Luego de la evaluación, el primer gran paso para lucir una piel hermosa el día de la boda es una limpieza facial profunda. “Se puede recomendar un peeling, ya sea láctico, glicólico o salicílico. Por su parte, la hidromicrodermoabración remueve las células muertas y se vale de activos hidratantes aptos para pieles grasas o aquellas que presentan acné y están deshidratadas”, sugiere De Jesús. Cabe mencionar que existen otros protocolos con diferentes ingredientes que oxigenan y revitalizan la piel. Para quienes ya muestran líneas de expresión, manchas cutáneas o flacidez, hay procedimientos más intensivos. “Está el lifting con microcorriente que estimula los músculos y los tonifica. La luz LED infrarroja, junto a productos cuyo ingrediente principal es el colágeno vegetal, activa el colágeno natural de la piel y consigue una hidratación más profunda”, específica. Tratamientos sugeridos • Radiofrecuencia facial - Aporta corrientes electromagnéticas directamente a las células, atravesando las moléculas. Regenera la piel cuando se complementa con células madre de origen vegetal. • Microagujas - Se aplican en todo el rostro junto a proteínas como el colágeno, la elástica de origen marino o vegetal, así como con ingredientes derivados del Botox y células madre, ácido hialurónico y algas marinas. Cuando se utiliza para tratar el acné, se complementa con productos que contienen activos antimanchas y reguladores de secreción sebácea. Su uso es frecuente en pieles mixtas y grasas. • Nanoagujas - Son mínimamente invasivas y se utilizan en las zonas de los ojos, el cuello y los labios. Su complemento idóneo son los cocteles que incluyen ingredientes antiarrugas e hidratantes. En caso de la aparición de bolsas oscuras debajo de los ojos, se aplican con el ácido kójico para estimular la circulación sanguínea. Es meritorio aclarar que las contraindicaciones en estos tratamientos dependerán si el cliente tiene algún padecimiento como alta presión, epilepsia, cancer, tiroides o es alérgico a algún ingrediente como algas y ácido salicílico, entre otros. Constancia en el hogar “¿Cuán importante es ser consistente con el cuidado de la piel en el hogar entre las visitas a la estética?”, indagamos. “La novia debe ser muy disciplinada de modo que pueda conseguir resultados óptimos de acuerdo con la necesidad de su piel. Ocurren imprevistos que provocan que se tenga que cancelar alguna cita. Por eso es que resulta ideal que se comience con las visitas a la estética un año antes. Así queda el espacio

os conocimos durante el segundo semestre de nuestro primer año en la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Unas amistades en común nos presentaron. De ahí en adelante nos hicimos muy buenos amigos. Bobby jugaba volleyball y yo nadaba, así que cada uno iba a las competencias del otro para apoyarnos”, recuerda Ann La Place. Culminó la etapa universitaria y la complejidad del diario vivir los alejó por un tiempo. Ann comenzó su trayecto como una de las modelos top más reconocidas en Puerto Rico; mientras que Bobby iniciaba su carrera como abogado. “Siempre supimos que teníamos buena química y que había cierta atracción, pero el momento nunca era el correcto. Cuando nos volvimos a encontrar, a los 28 años, reestablecimos la amistad que teníamos y las cosas simplemente evolucionaron. No hubo una declaración como tal, nunca nos hicimos novios. Las cosas fueron dándose orgánicamente hasta que ya estábamos juntos”, le cuenta la pareja a NUPCIAL. “¿En qué momento de su noviazgo es que deciden casarse?”, preguntamos.
“W
e met during the second semester of our first year at the University of Puerto Rico. Some mutual friends introduced us. From then on we became very good friends. Bobby played volleyball and I practiced swimming, so we both went to each other’s events to support each other,” recalls Ann La Place. College years came to an end and the complexity of everyday life drove them away for a while. Ann began her journey as one of the top models in Puerto Rico, while Bobby began his career as a lawyer. “We always knew that we had good chemistry and that there was a certain attraction, but the time was never right. When we met again, at 28, we reestablished our friendship and things simply evolved from there on. There was no declaration as such, we never became “boyfriend/girlfriend”. Things just blossomed organically until we ended up together,” the couple tells NUPCIAL. “At what point during your relationship is it that you decide to get married?”, we ask. “We had been together for two years, we had traveled and we realized that we got along really well. We decided

“Llevábamos dos años juntos, habíamos viajado y nos dimos cuenta que realmente nos llevábamos bien. Decidimos comprar casa juntos, convivimos año y medio antes de casarnos. Teníamos 31 años y ya teníamos la certeza de lo que queríamos y la seguridad de cómo funcionaba nuestra relación. Fui yo quien propuso matrimonio”, rememora Bobby Varela. e e lan fi a n Con la decisión pensada, esta pareja comenzó con el proceso de coordinar y planificar su enlace. En algo estuvieron claros: deseaban un festejo que fuera fiel reflejo de sus personalidades vivarachas y relajadas. “Toda la planificación fue súper relax, pues soy bastante llevadera, ¡jamás una bridezilla! Nuestros amigos se involucraron en la planificación de la boda. Fue lindo verlos tan entusiasmados con nuestra unión”, describe la también empresaria. Y llegó el gran día. Fue un domingo en la mañana frente al mar. “La ceremonia fue en la playa y la recepción en un rooftop. Lo mejor de la boda fue el ambiente y vibra que había. Todos nos dicen que ha sido la mejor boda que han ido por que no se sintió rígida ni formal. Nuestros invitados eran amigos y familiares, eso creó un ambiente bien íntimo. Bailamos, hicimos chistes, en fin todos la pasamos bien. Fue un día bello y eso se refleja en las fotos”, aseguran quienes de viaje de boda fueron a Virgen Gorda, en las Islas Vírgenes Británicas. ¡A agrandar la familia! Ya casados, Ann y Bobby deciden que es tiempo de agrandar la familia. Así que establecieron una serie acuerdos que al Sol de hoy siguen al pie de la letra. “Desde que estábamos esperando la llegada del primer bebe hablamos que ambos teníamos que involucrarnos en todo. Fuimos padres lactantes y nos turnamos los quehaceres. Tuvimos suerte que contamos con abuelos, tíos y amigos que aún nos ayudan con los nenes para nosotros poder salir a cenar solos o darnos escapadas”, expresa el abogado. De un tiempo a esta parte, esta pareja tiene una tradición que sirve además para mantener encendida la llama del amor.

to buy a house, and lived together for a year and a half before we got married. We were 31 years old and were already certain of what we wanted and sure of how our relationship worked. I was the one who proposed,” recalls Bobby Varela. Planning time With the bold decision, this couple began the process of coordinating and planning their wedding. One thing was clear: they wanted a celebration that would be a faithful reflection of their lively and relaxed personalities. “The whole planning process was very relaxed, since I’m quite easygoing, never a bridezilla! Our friends got also involved in the planning of our wedding. It was very nice to see them so excited about it,” describes the also entrepreneur. And the big day arrived. It was a Sunday morning by the ocean. “The ceremony was held on the beach and the reception on a rooftop. The best thing about the wedding was the atmosphere and the vibe. Everyone tells us it was the best wedding they’ve ever attended because it didn’t feel rigid nor formal. Our guests were exclusively friends and family, which created a very intimate atmosphere. We danced, made jokes, in short we all had a great time. It was a beautiful day and it shows in the photos,” says the couple, who later honeymooned in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. Expand the family! Once married, Ann and Bobby decide it’s time to expand the family. So they established a series of agreements that to this day still follow to the letter. “Since we were expecting the first baby, we talked about how we both had to be involved in everything. We were breastfeeding parents and we took turns doing the chores. We were lucky to have grandparents, uncles and friends who still help us with the kids allowing us to go out on dinner dates or on escapades for just the two of us,” says the lawyer. For some time now, this has a tradition that also serves to keep the flame of love burning. “We’ve had a tradition of traveling for our respective birthdays for three years now. That way we make sure to continuously work on our

Me apoya y se disfruta lo que hago. Es vital sentirse orgulloso de tu pareja, de lo que hace y lo que es. E
n muchas parejas, estos dos aspectos se van extinguiendo o simplemente nunca se trabajaron. Esto puede provocar que se pierda el interés sexual entre uno de sus miembros. Investigadores plantean que “la sexualidad forma parte de nuestra salud integral y que una vida sexual satisfactoria conlleva significativos beneficios para nuestro bienestar físico y emocional, incrementando la satisfacción con la vida en general, actuando como un antídoto relativo contra síntomas mentales y estabilizador del humor, logrando que la relación de pareja dure por mucho tiempo” (Cabello Santamaría, F 2012).
Técnica AAE Dentro de la comunicación sexual deben tener presente la técnica “AAE” (Fernández, 2014). Se trata de sostener una comunicación asertiva y afectiva para que sea efectiva y entonces puedan negociar. Para lograrlo deben tranzar un punto medio entre lo que desean ambos o aceptar lo que uno de los dos propone voluntariamente. También deben establecer nuevas técnicas eróticas a experimentar o descubrir otros aspectos. Inteligencia sexual Para negociar adecuadamente es importante la inteligencia sexual. Esta es una habilidad innata que se desarrolla y que se puede medir, cuantificar y potenciar. Los últimos descubrimientos revelan que es una superinteligencia ya que complementa los otros tipos de inteligencia (creativa, personal, social, emocional, física, sensorial, numérica, espacial y verbal). El sexo está en nuestro cerebro y no sólo a nivel genital. La inteligencia sexual está constituida por tres componentes mediante los cuales pueden negociar de forma saludable, placentera y satisfactoria para ambos. • Conocimiento o sabiduría sexual – Poseer conocimientos científicos acerca de la sexualidad humana, diferenciando lo verdadero de los mitos y los tabúes eróticos que han aportado la religión, la familia y la sociedad.

n many couples, both of these aspects become extinct or were simply never worked out. This can lead to a loss of sexual interest among one of the partners. Researchers state that “sexuality is part of our integral health and that a satisfactory sexual life has significant benefits for our physical and emotional well-being, increasing satisfaction with life in general, acting as a relative antidote against mental symptoms and stabilizing the mood, making the couple’s relationship last for a long time” (Cabello Santamaría, F 2012). AAE technique Within sexual communication, the “AAE” technique must be taken into account (Fernández, 2014). It is a matter of sustaining an assertive and affective communication so that it is effective and then you can negotiate. To achieve this they must find a middle ground between what they both want or accept what one of them proposes voluntarily. They must also establish new erotic techniques to experiment or discover other aspects. Sexual Intelligence To negotiate properly, sexual intelligence is important. This is an innate skill that is developed and can be measured, quantified and upgraded. The latest discoveries reveal that it is a super-intelligence as it complements the other types of intelligence (creative, personal, social, emotional, physical, sensory, numerical, spatial and verbal). Sex is in our brain and not only at the genital level. Sexual intelligence is made up of three components through which you can negotiate in a healthy, pleasant and satisfactory way for both. • Sexual knowledge or wisdom - Possessing scientific knowledge about human sexuality, differentiating truth from myths and erotic taboos that religion, family and society have created. • Awareness of the sexual self - The interest in learning more about sex should not be seen as something hidden or as the sole interest of professionals or researchers. • Conciencia del “yo” sexual – El interés por aprender más sobre el sexo no debe verse como algo oculto ni como interés único de los profesionales o investigadores. El sexo es parte de cada uno de nosotros, por lo que un mayor conocimiento de esta materia nos permite una mejor interconexión y el empoderamiento sexual personal. • Empatía y conexión sexual – La capacidad de ser empático y conectar, comprendiendo el yo sexual de la pareja y el nuestro. ¿Quién negocia más? En términos de quien busca más la negociación diría que es el hombre. Esto dado a que es genital, responde y se le despierta más rápido el deseo sexual, logrando la estimulación mucho más rápido. En cambio, la mujer es más emocional y cuando tiene las emociones alteradas o laceradas por ciertas acciones o eventos se le hace difícil despertar ese deseo, concentrarse y excitarse para entrar al encuentro intimo. De todas formas, y por naturaleza, la mujer necesita más tiempo para excitarse que el hombre. En mi amplia práctica como sexóloga las diferencias más marcadas que he visto en las parejas y que necesitan negociación son ciertas posiciones sexuales, determinadas prácticas como el sexo oral, el sexo anal (en parejas heterosexuales), la frecuencia sexual, el horario y la falta del juego precoital suficiente como para estimular a la mujer y la falta de fantasías sexuales más bien por parte de la fémina. ¡A fortalecer la autoestima! Es recomendable fortalecer la autoestima sexual. Atrévanse a realizar cosas nuevas sin temor ni vergüenza, olviden el “no me atrevo”. Saquen esa sensualidad y agresividad sexual oculta. Conozcan su cuerpo e identifiquen aquellas áreas con más sensibilidad erótica y que despierten su deseo para que puedan enseñarle a su pareja dónde tocar y que no tenga que adivinar. Hay que fomentar una educación sexual adecuada, de modo que les ayude a modificar consciente y saludablemente las prácticas sexuales según la etapa de desarrollo en que se encuentran. Tengan en cuenta que la sexualidad tiene que ver más con su actitud y su forma de ser que con sus características físicas.

Who negotiates more? In terms of who’s most looking to negotiate, I’d say it’s the man. This, given that he is genital, responds and his sexual desire is awakened more quickly, achieving stimulation much more quickly. On the other hand, the woman is more emotional and when her emotions are altered or lacerated by certain actions or events, it is difficult for her to awaken this desire, to concentrate and get excited to enter into the intimate encounter. Anyways, naturally, women need more time to get excited than men. In my extensive practice as a sexologist the most marked differences I have seen in couples that need to be negotiated are certain sexual positions, certain practices such as oral sex, anal sex (in heterosexual couples), sexual frequency, timing and lack of precoital play to stimulate the woman and lack of sexual fantasies mostly by the female.

Strengthening self-esteem! It is advisable to strengthen sexual self-esteem. Dare to do new things without fear or embarassment, forget the “I’m afraid to try”. l tacaño busca guardar dinero por guardarlo. No solo tiene un vínculo enfermo con el dinero, también limita sus emociones, sus sentimientos y se convierte en un controlador. El tacaño es ese que nunca paga, que se aprovecha de la generosidad del otro. Si aceptas estar con una pareja que muestra estos rasgos es posible que te sientas desvalorizada porque criticará cómo manejas el dinero. Recuerda algo: no puedes pedir descuento por tu autoestima. he cheapskate is looking to save money for the sake of it. Not only does he have an unhealthy bond with money, he also withholds his emotions, his feelings and becomes controlling. The cheapskate is the one who never pays, who takes advantage of the other’s generosity. If you accept to be with someone with these traits, you may feel devalued because he or she will criticize how you handle money. Remember this: you can’t ask for a discount on your self-esteem. Behavior Alert • They obsessively control any movement of money that happens within the family. Being meticulous and organized is good, but when taken to an unhealthy extreme it becomes harmful and results in a tense atmosphere at home. • They refuse to have a conversation related to the topic and respond to any questioning with monosyllables. Una línea fina Ahorrar y convertirse en alguien tacaño no es lo mismo, aunque la línea que diferencia ambos conceptos es muy fina. Todo ahorro razonable -o sano- tiene siempre un horizonte temporal y un fin concreto, como por ejemplo ir de vacaciones, para comprar una vivienda o un auto. El tacaño, por su lado, sufre cuando realiza cualquier tipo de desembolso. Otra gran diferencia entre guardar dinero saludablemente versus de forma compulsiva: el ahorrador conoce sus finanzas e idea un plan pero siempre disfrutando de su actividad habitual; mientras que el tacaño disfruta viendo crecer su caudal aunque conlleve un nivel de vida miserable. Quien tiene una visión saludable de sus finanzas busca hacer inversiones para que su dinero crezca, contrario al obsesivo que prefiere guardarlo en la casa y no ponerlo a generar intereses ni ganancias. Estas personas poseen un afán desmedido por acumular dinero, riquezas y posesiones que no compartirán con nadie. Son insaciables a la hora de pedir y miserables a la hora de vivir. No suelen ser felices porque conviven con la sensación de permanente carencia. Aspiran a tener más con la esperanza de sentirse mejor.

show no affection, consciously ignoring the emotional needs of the other, which remain unsatisfied within the framework of the relationship. • They keep tabs on every expense that is generated but never hold themselves accountable for what they earn, spend or save. • He acts like he’s the boss of everyone in the family. He gives orders left and right. He makes isolated decisions. • They make everyone within the household feel inferior. They diminish the self-esteem and capabilities of those around them. A fine line Saving and becoming a cheapskate are not the same, though there’s a very fine line between the two concept. All reasonable - or healthy - savings always have a time horizon and a specific purpose, such as going on vacations, purchase a house or buy a car. Cheapskates, on the other hand, suffer when they make any kind of payment. Another big difference between healthy versus compulsive saving: the saver knows his finances and comes up with a plan but always enjoying his regular activities; while the cheapskate enjoys watching his wealth grow even if it means lowering the standards of living to miserable. Those who have a healthy view of their finances seek to make investments so that their money grows, as opposed to the obsessive person who prefers to keep it inside the house and not put it to generate interests nor profit. These people have an inordinate obsession to accumulate money, wealth and possessions that they will not share with anyone else. They are insatiable when it comes to asking and miserable when it comes to living. They are usually unhappy because they live with the feeling of permanent shortage. They aspire to have more in the hope of feeling better. How to approach the subject? This is a subject that is hard to deal with because the cheapskate’s personality is a difficult one. For them, every expense is excessive. That’s why you have to plan and negotiate

¿Cómo abordar el tema? Este es un tema que es difícil de tratar porque la personalidad del tacaño es difícil. Para ellos, todo gasto es excesivo. Esa es la razón por la que hay que planificar y negociar cómo se utilizará el dinero familiar. Estas personas suelen escudarse en la coraza de creyente del ahorro. Sin embargo, la realidad es que son seres imposibilitados para disfrutar de la vida de forma adulta. Presionarlos para que cambien puede resultar decepcionante. Cuando los miembros de la pareja trabajan, la situación es más llevadera. Pero en cualquier caso, conviene establecer acuerdos para evitar la dictadura financiera que intentará imponer el tacaño. ¿Qué hacer? • Trabaja en tu autoestima porque puede verse afectada. ¡Eres es una persona valiosa! Reconoce tus virtudes y tu aportación al hogar, que generalmente va más allá de lo financiero. • Busca un respiro financiero generando otros ingresos que te permitan cierto grado de independencia, de manera que no dependas totalmente de tu pareja para atender tus necesidades. • Exprésale a tu cónyuge lo que piensas sin temor y con respeto, no sigas guardando silencio. Combate inteligentemente y con argumentos sólidos su actitud controladora. • Proponle trabajar juntos un plan y distribuyan los ingresos de acuerdo con lo que ambos consideran importante. Los límites financieros se aceptan y se ejecutan de mejor manera si el núcleo familiar los entiende y los valora. Esto ayuda lidiar con los desacuerdos, aparte de que evita los conflictos y las injusticias. • Busquen los consejos de un mentor que les ayude a mediar en esta situación, especialmente si hay riesgo de agresión o si no llegan a ningún acuerdo. Cuestión de actitud Pensar en necesidad suele atraer más carencia. Aquel que se siente merecedor del dinero suele ganarlo con más facilidad que quien piensa que jamás tendrá suficiente. En las personas que suelen ahorrar más de lo necesario suele haber mandatos familiares como “En esta casa todos siempre cuenta mucho...” o “Hay que guardar para tiempos de crisis...”.
