More than P28.35M-worth of projects to operate next sem Jevelyn Justo and Christina Obra
Fourteen new engineers from the fields of Civil Engineering (CE) and Geodetic Engineering (GE) were produced by the College of Engineering (CoE) following the release of the Licensure Examinations results by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on November 21 and October 16, respectively.
A total of P 28.35 million worth of various structures in the university are expected to commence its operations and serve the studentry next semester.
Based on PRC's data, 13 out of 40 Civil Engineering examinees passed the exam, including both first takers and repeaters, which recorded a 28.89% passing rate. Meanwhile, GE posted a 25% passing rate with one passer out of the four examinees.

BSMath posts 100% passing in LET Alger M. Cerojales The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (BSMath) program of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) reclaimed its flawless performance in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) – Secondary level, September 2015. In the official results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on September 27, the program recorded 100% passing rate against the 41.75% national passing rate. The new registered teachers include: Arlene E. Capua, Edward B. Cabbab, and Randy B. Galamay. Also among the passers are Jefferson L. Inocencio, now employed in the university as emergency instructor; Christian Ven A. Soria, former CAS - Student Council president; and Jay-ar C. Castriciones, the current chair of the Department of Mathematics. The BSMath program has been consistently doing well since its conception in the LET, posting 100% passing rate in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2015.#

The different projects which were mostly started in December 2015 include an academic building, a network of catwalk, repairs and rehabilitations, among others. Construction of new structures With a P22-million budget from the General Appropriations or national budget, the three-storey academic building behind the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) was started in December 28 and is expected to be completed by the BRG construction after 180 calendar days. Meanwhile, a network of catwalks within the university premises is on-going. The project, which is expected
to be finished after 180 days, is handled by Green Valley Construction.
Rehabilitation and improvement of facilities Aside from these new structures, rehabilitations and renovations are also underway.
The Laboratory School building is also set to be rehabilitated and improved with a budget allocation amounting to P3.1 million, and the Graduate School (GS) Building is also subjected to more or less P750, 000-worth of repair and improvement from the Calamity Fund for Typhoon Lando. It was started December 28 by the Nivrol Enterprises, which is scheduled to be completed within 120 days. continue to p.2

With the theme, “Reinforcing Valor and Integrity in Campus Journalism,” the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), in collaboration with the Varsity Courier, conducted the 1st NVSU Invitational Press Conference at the Library Complex last November 30. “Our objective is to equip beginners with campus journalism skills and update the students on advanced trends regarding school paper writing and paper production, “ Ms. Kathrine D. Ojano, a faculty from CAS and the conference directress, stressed in her opening speech. Professor Ben G. Domingo Jr., a practicing journalist and retired professor from Central Luzon State Univer-
sity (CLSU) and Mr. Melvin C. Gascon, correspondent o the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI)-Region 2, served as the resource speakers for the said activity. Aside from their plenary talks on issues confronting campus journalism and campus paper management, they also lectured on different journalism events which were held via parallel sessions. continue to p.3
