2010-11 SEASON REVIEW We are Warriors. We’ve over come the obstacles that were thrown at us. When starters were unable to play due to concussions, sprained ankles and other unfortunate events these Lady Warriors stuck together and relied on the Lord to be their strength. We are short but mighty. Our brightest moment of the year was the most challenging part of the season, our last week with 3 games back to back. Day one: Tuesday vs Chestnut Hill. They fought hard and after the 5th set we proved we didn’t drive 3 hours to lose. Day 2: vs Dominican. Double digit digs by almost every defensive player on the court allowed us to approach the 5th game with confidence. With the last ace of the game the crowd screamed with excitement and rushed the gym floor 28-26 Nyack wins! With 210 Hitting attempts, 45 assists, 116 Digs and 9 blocks we had defeated Dominican College the 2nd place team in our Conference to clinch the 4th seed position in playoffs knocking out Post. Our legs are heavy and we’ve got burns our hips, knees and wrists but we’re ready for day 3. Our Lady Warriors walked away with a 3-1 game win vs. Georgian Court. Smiles on their faces and prayers of thanksgiving on their lips we finished our last conference game. We ended the season 9-10 with a 4 game winning streak. Tied with Bloomfield for 3rd we received the 4th place seed. A 0-3 game loss to Caldwell the #1 team in the first round of playoffs ended our season. Our growth was amazing. With only Stacia Williams graduating we have a strong foundation established for next year. She will be missed but she leaves behind a long lasting example of humble leadership. Respected by our conference, Nyack received 2 of the 14 nominations for All conference. Moana Masaniai made the CACC 1st team and Michelle Makela made the 2nd team. Our amazing attitude was rewarded with the Sportsmanship of the Year Award. We are One Team with One Goal. We are Warriors for Christ and we play to win. Highlights 5’3 Jenny Schaller single handedly blocked 6’2 Middle Blocker from Holy Family. Setter Amelia Moore was moved to the outside ending the season with 133 kills and 133 digs. Freshman Ally Rola had 14 kills and 4 blocks & Senior Stacia Williams had 6 kills, 20 attempts, 1 assist and 3 digs vs. Bloomfield. This game began our winning streak. Freshman Brianna Kane led the team with 32 aces 96 kills and 530 assists. Moana Masaniai had two facials and spiked a ball so hard that it popped. Tawnie our 5’3 Outside hitter had 18 kills, 27 digs vs Dominican she ended the seasons with 134 kills and 182 digs. Anna Bailey played almost every position and ended the season with 14 aces. Michelle Makela ended the season with 420 digs. Our practice players Sharon Ofori, Alex Devries and Elisa Rambo did an amazing job assisting us this year.
