Lieutenant Governor’s Greeting Hello Division 24, I’m your Lieutenant Governor for the 22-23 service year. I just know by working together, this year will be amazing! I can’t wait to get to know everyone on a more personal level as the year goes on! Remember that the May MRF is due today!

District Board Webmaster Hi everyone! I’m Audrey Harradine. I am a Sophomore at Ogdensburg Free Academy. I have been a part of key club for 2 years! I am so excited to talk to all of you and being able to see and post your pictures!! Governor’s Project - Soles4Souls
There are under-resourced people all over the world. This charity turns shoes and clothing into opportunity. It provides relief by collecting new shoes and clothing to distribute to people in need across the United States and around the world, helps people launch and sustain their own small businesses selling shoes and clothing, and of course, the efforts of Soles4Souls protect the environment by putting used goods to good use. Additionally, this charity is shipping footwear to give to Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Moldova and to those on the frontline.
District Project - Pencils of Promise Pencils of Promise has the mission to ensure that every child has access to quality education. This organization builds classrooms in Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos to give students safe and healthy places to learn. Pencils of Promise also provides teachers with training and innovative resources, and it provides children with access to clean water, private bathrooms, and good hygiene practices.
International Partner Schoolhouse For the Khan Academy users out there: the founder, Sal Khan, created Schoolhouse. It is a free math peertutoring platform over Zoom where you have the opportunity to become a tutor. Schoolhouse offers both instant homework help and longer-term, small-group sessions in math and SAT prep.
Endorsed Project - Kiwanis Lyme Disease Foundation The Lyme Disease Project was quickly set up to help pay for medical treatment for children with this disease. Unfortunately most insurance companies do not pay for its treatment, which is very expensive. Our support is funded through donations form Kiwanis Clubs and individuals and channeled into the Pediatric Lyme Disease Fund. We have 27 active grants for children with the disease.
ICON In-person Taking place in Washington D.C. from July 4th through July 10th The District will be taking a tour around Washington D.C which will include the zoo, a nighttime tour of the monuments, and fireworks! Transportation will be provided from the three transport spots. Albany, New York City and Staten Island. You will need to provide transportation to one of these three spots.
Virtual Virtual ICON will take place from July 5th through July 9th. The deadline to sign up is June 15th at 11:59 pm, the cost is $25 to sign up. If going to Washington D.C. or the cost is a problem for you, attending virtually is a great option!
Key Clubber of the Month (May)
MERIN CURATOLO
Out of all the nominations for May’s KCM, Merin’s stood out. She is only a sophomore this year as well as Ogdensburg’s Bulletin Editor! She put 110% into everything she does and is showing great leadership skills! She has taken the initiative to advertise clubs service projects and fundraisers. She has also got to publish her first article in the local newspaper! Nominated by Jaedyn Awan.

MOLLY GARDNER
Key Clubber of the Month (Cont.) “Molly is a senior this year and has been a Key Club member all four years of her HS career. Molly served as our President for two years and did a phenomenal job during covid. All of our board and regular meetings were held virtually. We were able to do some committee meetings virtually. She made it fun by doing Free Rice competitions with the members so we could have fun and still do service. She was instrumental in suggesting that each member makes cards for essential workers or businesses in their neighborhoods so they can drop them off while socially distancing. Molly was in constant communication with her officers and members during covid and now. While being president, Molly held down a job, but she always made sure things were run properly. Molly joined Key Club because she loves helping others and giving back to her community. Molly is the epitome of what a Key Club member is supposed to be, you couldn't ask for a better role model for officers and members. “ nominationed by Mrs. Patti Dean

Carthage Spotlight - Sewing Bears
Carthage Spotlight Sewing Bears This month in Key Club we did the bear project. The bear project is where we make bears and give them to local first responders in Black River and Carthage. The bears are given to children who have been rescued from a traumatic experience, the bears are to help them feel safe and calmer. Our Key Club took this over from the senior citizens because the senior citizens were having trouble sewing the bears with their arthritic hands. Many of us stayed and volunteered for 2-3 hours to sew the bears. It has been three years since we have last been able to do this due to Covid and its restrictions. We were all very excited to get back to making the bears for the bear project! - Maddison Juby (member)
Division 16 Spotlight
Division 16 Spotlight This past October, Guilderland Central High School attended the Annual Breast Cancer Walk in Washington Park, Albany. There, members set up a water station along the walk path. I was very fortunate to have attended and the members and I got the opportunity to give out water while also supporting the community that has been affected by Breast Cancer. One member says that, "... it is my favorite service event of the year." What made the service event so impactful to us were the relationships we made with the walkers and runners. We hugged, gave high fives, and smiled to those who came by and our positivity was never missed. We even were able to learn some stories from Breast Cancer survivors! To add to all this, we were even filmed for our local news network. The service event is one that Guilderland attends every year, and one we plan on continuing to attend.
Club Visits/ Divisional Virtual visit with Norwood-Norfolk: I was able to virtual meet with one club this service year. I got to talk to all their officers and official meet them. I had so much fun and hope I am able to either virtual or physical attend other clubs meetings!
Divisional: Virtual divisional held on June 5th. We discussed lots new information including making the fundraising and service hour hour for our division. I so happy I got to meet so many people from out division, even though it was virtually! I plan to hold the next Divisional in person sometime in September.
