Endorsed Project Kiwanis Lyme Disease Foundation
The Lyme Disease Project was quickly set up to help pay for medical treatment for children with this disease. Unfortunately most insurance companies do not pay for its treatment, which is very expensive. Our support is funded through donations form Kiwanis Clubs and individuals and channeled into the Pediatric Lyme Disease Fund. We have 27 active grants for children with the disease.

The Holland Key Club is working to repair their towns “Hometown Hero” board after it was destroyed during a car accident this past year. This display recognizes active military members from the area and shines light on the positive impact these community members have on our nation. In order to properly recognize the accomplishments of those being displayed, the group decorated the board and will continue maintaining it as more active members become revealed and can be displayed.

Carthage Central High School’s Key Club participated in a trunkor-treat hosted at their local elementary, Carthage Elementary, on Friday, October 14. Using a member’s car they created “Twister Treat” by hanging a twister board up and having kids “play” the game in order to get a piece of candy. Our members, some in costumes (the Little Prince, a nurse, and an adorable chicken supporting a tutu) and others not, loved helping out with the kids. The trick or treaters, guardians, and key clubbers alike had a lot of fun and ate an unhealthy amount of candy. Trunk-or-treating turned out to be more work than most of the members anticipated (partially due to the unexpectedly tedious work of keeping the twister board supplied with candy), and our club would like to thank all of the people who do this event annually. We encourage you to support your local kids by holding a stand at a trunk-or-treat this year!
