1802-1808 között magántanulóként végezte középfokú tanulmányait. 1809 és 1825 között szabadságokkal megszakítottan katonáskodott és utazott, járta a világot. Századparancsnokká léptették elő. 1814-1825 között utazgatott, többször barátjával, Wesselényi Miklóssal. Rendkívüli érzékenység, széles látókör jellemezte. A katonai pályán szerzett tapasztalatai és az utazási élményeinek hatására kezdett politizálni. Az 1825-ös országgyűlésen lépett fel először és fejtette ki véleményét. Házasságot kötött Seilern Crescentia grófnővel. Elméleti munkái többnyire gazdasági és politikai körképet adnak a kor problémáiról. Megszervezte 1827-ben a lóversenyzést és a kaszinót. Megindultak a Vaskapu szabályozási munkálatai. Népszerűsítette a sportokat,köztük a korcsolyázást is. A dunai gőzhajózás elindítása és a Lánchíd építése is hozzá köthető. Széchenyi volt a Sopron és Győr postavonal kezdeményezője. Legfontosabb munkája régiónkban a Sopron-Bécsújhely Vasút építése volt.

I set the memory of a long departed ship’s crew, who were bewitched by the tranquility of space. They stayed out there. Opted for the darkness and silence, became one with all the opposite of the ordinary and familiar surroundings. What scares many of us, that inspires them. The space is no longer dark for
them, and despite of their stationarity they can see and hear more about the world than anybody else. This way they can help us, the “down stayed ones”, in navigation in thesky. On my sections, after connecting the buttons that can be found on the spacesuit of the animals, their constellations will be delineated.
