MASTER OF CEREMONY RACHEL CALLANDER | MC Bio written by Clinton Lloyd

Rachel is irresistibly genuine and infectiously passionate about all of the love, the loss and the open doors that life throws her way. Always up for chats into the night and dancing until morning, it’s impossible to talk to her without feeling the warm embrace of a soul truly alive. As the author of the “Super Power Baby Project” she is internationally sought after for her thought leadership and ability to reshape the cultural narrative on disabilities into a life affirming, hope enabling paradigm. Coming all the way from Perth this year to MC conference, because she couldn’t face missing out on seeing all your beautiful faces. When she’s not on stage you are bound to find her in deep conversation with someone probably in tears, getting messy on the dance floor or seeing the best in every Iris entry.

BROOKE SHADEN Brooke Shaden explores the darkness and light in people, and her work looks at that juxtaposition. As a self-portrait artist, she photographs herself and becomes the characters of dreams inspired by a childhood of intense imagination and fear. Being the creator and the actor, Brooke controls her darkness and confronts those fears. After studying films for years in college, she realized her love of storytelling was universal. She started photography then in 2008, excited to create in solitude and take on character roles herself. Brooke works from a place of theme, often gravitating toward death and rebirth or beauty and decay. Ultimately, her process is more discovery than creation. She follows her curiosity into the unknown to see whom her characters might become. Brooke believes the greatest gift an artist has is the ability to channel fears, hopes and experience into a representation of one’s potential. While her images come from a personal place of exploration, the goal in creating is not only to satisfy herself; her greatest wish is to show others a part of themselves. Art is a mirror for the creator and the observer . Brooke’s passion is storytelling, and her life is engulfed in it. From creating selfportraits and writing to international adventures and motivational speeches, she wants to live a thousand lives in one. She keeps her curiosity burning to live a truly interesting story.

Good technique is essential, but nothing is more necessary than a unique vision that drives your work ++ Join Brooke Shaden at ilford ExposurePRO 2019 on Sunday 23rd June for a live shoot on stage at Shed 6 from 9:30am, and Monday 24th June for her live image edit from 1:30pm

Creativity is a practice. And through observing, playing, and experimenting with the same thing over and over, adding small variations each time you build the creative “muscle” in your brain. When you feel like your work is lacking that creative spark or you’re frustrated because you can see what you want to create but just can’t quite get there - allow yourself room to experiment during each session that you do. That’s how you build a creatively fulfilling portfolio of work. It’s ok to do the same thing each time, and to have a framework to follow. But add a little variation each time. Experiment and play. Be curious, always. And make it a priority to shoot and create work that you love BEFORE you start booking paid clients.

@craigparryphotography

@CraigParryPhoto

Craig Parry is a multi award winning oceanic and nature photographer of international acclaim, based in Byron Bay, Australia. From Humble Beginnings Growing up in Byron Bay along the coastline of Northern NSW, Australia, it was his parent’s gift of a disposable water proof camera at five years old that set him on the path to his passion. While most kids his age were reading comics, Craig was immersing himself in early editions of Australian Geographic and when he turned 13 years old he spent all his savings on a 35mm SLR – a move that ultimately set the course for Craig’s future. Entirely self-taught, Craig worked hard at his craft before making a life-changing decision and becoming a full-time professional photographer in 2004 – a defining moment in Craig’s life. A Lifetime Passion for Photography Today his fine art photography offers a unique insight into the world around us. Primarily focusing upon marine and landscape imagery, subjects are presented in their natural environment in a manner which seeks to connect audiences with the environment. Portraying the obvious as abstract, Craig’s images are engaging and beautiful at the same time. As Sony Global Ambassador his work regularly sees him travelling to all corners of the globe in pursuit of new adventures and unique encounters, and he can often be found working with the likes of National Geographic, Discovery Channel and Travel Channel.

The Story of Furtography. I’m Craig, crazy cat daddy, puppy parent and patisserie addict. Furtography is my business and my passion and I’m grateful every single day that I get to do a job I love so much. Based in Christchurch, I travel the world working with clients, both private and commercial to capture their dream images of dogs in bright and glorious Technicolour! I’m also the photographer/author of three best-selling books, Quake Dogs, Quake Cats and A Dog’s Life. The two quake books tell stories of what happened to our furry family members during the devastating Christchurch earthquakes in 2010/11. They have now raised more than $30,000 for animals in need in Christchurch and accross around New Zealand. I’ve been capturing the uniqueness of Dog (and cats and other critters) since 2001, saying that makes me feel very old! I’m an accredited Fellow/Master of Photography with the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography and in 2018 I won the title of New Zealand Portrait Photographer of the Year in the Open Category of the NZIPP/Nikon Iris Awards. It’s the very first time in 80 years of the

organisation’s existence that a portrait award has been given to a photographer whose subjects aren’t people. In 2018 I also won the title of Canterbury/Westland Photographer of the Year, 3rd place in the Assistance Animals category of the internationally renowned Dog Photographer of the Year competition which saw over 10,000 entries from 70 different countries. I’m also an official Fujifilm Global X-series Photographer. Using their amazing GFX Medium Format Camera is a real privilege and means I can provide clients with unparalleled image quality with colour and clarity that makes you feel as if you could reach right in to the image and give those dogs a belly rub! I love working with charities to help with adoption photography, a great image makes a huge difference. I’m absolutely thrilled to have taken on the role of ambassador for the amazing Kotuku Foundation for Assistance Animals Aotearoa early in 2018. KFAAA help train & provide assistance dogs to people who need them all across New Zealand, the work they do is inspirational and I’m honoured to be a small part of the team.

it ready for the exhibition and silent auction to start by 5pm. The cost of paper and printing is included in your Project Street ticket entry. We’ll be announcing the event to local media and businesses and an auction of the prints all to go to charity (Ronald MacDonald House Wellington) at the final close off of the silent auction, 3pm on Monday 24th June. We have already raised over $23,500 for charity in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide in 2018. We would really love you to consider being a part of this project. Let’s create an amazing exhibition together and continue to connect photography with the local community.
