With a teammate they will dive into the basics of engineering using LEGO’s Wedo 2.0 Kits and Software. Come and program exciting interactive objects that move, react, and make sounds! In this course, students will explore all the basics of building their own VR environment and bringing it to life with coded animations. Students are encouraged to view and share their worlds through a variety of platforms, including on a laptop or Chromebook, a phone, or through Google cardboard. A laptop or Chromebook is required. No experience required.

THE WORLD OF MICROCONTROLLERS 10-12 YRS
What do the robots exploring Mars, heart monitors helping thousands of people live life to the fullest, and the vending machine at your school serving you tasty snacks have in common? Microcontrollers! Microcontrollers are all around us and allow us to write code for the real world. Students will build circuits with sensors to measure the world around them and then write code to act on those inputs, learning foundational skills for everything from robotics to the Internet of Things to tinkering with household appliances and modern cars. A laptop or Chromebook with a standard USB port is required.

Lifelong habits start at a young age. The sooner kids are taught safe bike handling skills, the quicker they develop confidence and ability on their bikes. The focus of this course is to help your kids develop and practice safe cycling skills and habits so that when they are older, they will be ready to learn how to ride with traffic. The skills are taught through fun games and skill-related activities! Please note that kids entering our courses should be able to ride a bike without training wheels.

This program, designed by Kathleen Lee, focuses on home and personal safety and emergency procedures for situations that could occur when youth are home alone. A resource booklet with worksheets and tips, plus a parent and guardian handout, is sent home with registrants.
