January

• Before development could begin on the new Lehigh Acres Middle School site, a “Turtle Rodeo” took place. Gopher tortoises, a protected species, were collected from the 43 acres and relocated to a safe site in Hendry County. • Additions and renovations are making progress at the San Cap Community Bridge Branch.

February

• A ground breaking is held for the Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties’ new Heritage Heights neighborhood, which the O-A-K Florida Civil Division performed the site development for. • General Superintendent, Ryan Propp showed the four-year-old boys from GLAD Kids their future home at the Heights Early Learning & Education Center during their field trip to the site.

• Custom pre-fabricated columns for the Lovers Key Welcome & Discovery Center are assembled and installed on site. Some are used to hold up the first floor deck and others will be supporting the roof. • All three phases of the airport access road, Rodeo Drive, are completed at the LaBelle Municipal Airport. The project included a security gate and parking area.

• The 10,456 sq. ft. Creative World School in Naples is completed. This is the second 200 student facility we have built for the franchise. • O-A-K/Florida’s Aviation Division celebrates it’s 6th Year Anniversary. Creative World School - Naples

Lovers Key Welcome & Discovery Center Deck Pour

May

• Starting at 4 AM, the deck of the Lovers Key Welcome & Discovery Center was poured. It took 35 full trucks to deliver all of the concrete. • Casting beds are formed and poured for the tilt walls of the new Lehigh Acres Middle School. A laser screed is used to make sure they are perfectly level. • Parking, landscape, and exterior paint are completed at the Gateway Trinity Lutheran Church while work on the interior continues. • O-A-K/Florida brings four interns aboard for the summer projects season. • The Tobler/OAK Joint Venture starts work on the 5 kitchen remodel at Palm City Gardens for the Dunbar Improvement Association.

• O-A-K/Florida hosts a “Meet the GC” gathering at the American Subcontractors Association of Southwest Florida monthly meeting. • A new building for the Family Health Centers of SW Florida on Summer Ridge Lane starts construction.

July

• Addition of a two lane drive thru and 4,590 sq. ft. office space and renovations to the 11,500 sq. ft. building are completed at the San Cap Community Bank’s Operation Center & Bridge Branch. • Designed to withstand a Cat 5 hurricane, the new ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) building next to the Air Traffic Control tower is completed. The airside facing overhead doors in the three bay apparatus garage completely raise in 3 seconds.

• Construction starts on FGCU’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, now named Lucas Hall after long-time supporter and entrepreneur, David Lucas. • FLORIDA WEEKLY Article • • The Heights Early Learning & Education Center is completed. The three-story building with a third floor outdoor deck will provide child development from infant to fifth grade.

• Additions, including a new porte-cochere, sanctuary and welcome/multi-purpose room and renovations at Gateway Trinity Lutheran Church are completed.

• Our Naples office moves to a new location to better accommodate their growing team. • A ‘Topping-Off Celebration’ was held at the new Lehigh Acres Middle School site with many Lee County School Board members, local dignitaries, and the Principal in attendance to sign a large beam signifying the final beam to be put in place at the building. A luncheon for 200 plus subcontractors on site was also hosted.

• Construction of the new Family Health Centers building is well on it’s way with completion expected in March 2021.

• Construction of a new 2,250 sq. ft. Airfield Lighting Vault at RSW starts this month, including backup generator, site work, and security improvements. • United Way’s annual fundraising kick off, this year named “Rise to the Challenge”, was held virtually via a live stream on YouTube.

November

• The Welcome & Discovery Center is completed at Lovers Key State Park. • The Taxiway and Taxilane rehabilitation project begins at the LaBelle Municipal Airport. • O-A-K/Florida announces that President Dave Dale, after 31 years of service to the company, will step down and Matthew Zwack will assume the leadership January 1, 2021. • Work on multiple projects progresses on Collier County Public Schools under the School District of Collier County’s Professional Services Contract throughout the year. The work is done without disruption to students and faculty and will continue into 2021.
