inally spring has come to set in. We've had a long winter in the states and it has truly taken over for far too long. Now I'm a girl who loves winter and loves to get nestled up, have some hot cocoa, watch the snow, in my warm comfy sweater, but I'm ready for the warmth of the sun. I think everyone can agree! Plus spring fashion is a lot more fun to show yourself off and also more cute. So let the spring fashion commence! In this issue we had a lot of spring fashions. We had dark versions and light versions of what our artists think of spring and we truly enjoyed the different visions. No artist should be the same. Also we had the joy to meet Timeekah Murphy, a true fashion guru who has made some extraordinary designs. We really want to thank our artists. Without all of you we wouldn't be able to make such beautiful issues each quater. Obscurae Magazine has been around for over five years! Each quarter we get the joy to see the beauty and amazing talent people have and create. We hope everyone enjoys this issue. We sure did.

DESIGNER EXTRAORDNAIRE OBSCURAE Hi Timeekah, how are you?
OBSCURAE What do you enjoy most about designing?
OBSCURAE Who do you hope to design for in the future?
TIMEEKAH I’m doing well. Very blessed
TIMEEKAH When people wear my clothing it makes them feel amazing. I dressed one of my models one day and he said “ oh my God I feel amazing”. That’s what made me know I was doing what I love and what God intended for me to do. Having a gift that uplifts people spirits and confidence is what I enjoy about designing.
TIMEEKAH Male- Bruno Mars. He’s my favorite male artist Female- Jennifer Lopez because she slays everything she wears.
OBSCURAE How long have you been a designer for? TIMEEKAH I’ve been designing for 9 years. I’ve had my brand, Alani Taylor for 3 years. OBSCURAE What made you want to be a designer? TIMEEKAH Honestly I had know dream of ever being a designer. My plan was to go to the WNBA but I got injured and, stop playing basketball and joined the military. I never knew what fashion was until 8 years ago. I started teaching myself how to sew because there was only one mall in Killeen TX where I was stationed and I didn’t want to look like everyone else. OBSCURAE Can you go over your designing process? TIMEEKAH I can’t say I have a design process. My mind is open all day to inspiration. Every design I have made thus far has been accidental. When I see a fabric I buy it. I may not use it for a while but when I do I just sit at the machine and see what I come up with. It hasn’t failed me yet.
OBSCURAE What are the pros and cons for being a designer? TIMEEKAH the cons are some will love you and some won’t. Going through the battle of trusting yourself and staying true to who you are as an artist. Staying relevant in this Industry is a battle within itself, but again how we make others feel is the greatest pro of all OBSCURAE Who have you designed for? OBSCURAE Do you have any advice for our viewers? TIMEEKAH Never let anyone discourage you from accomplishing your goals. Be strategic and smart when you decide to go through with starting a business. For my designers I would say to think carefully before you start your own business, and consider possibly working for a designer or a company whose work you admire. Get the experience and knowledge first, put yourself out there as much as possible. OBSCURAE Do you have anything else you’d like to share? TIMEEKAH Remember everything happens for a reason. When you find that reason you’ve found your way.
