China, Mexico eye comprehensive cooperation (01/10/2014) China and Mexico on Monday vowed to deepen political mutual trust and promote comprehensive cooperation. New Zealand helps Tien Giang develop agriculture (01/10/2014) The New Zealand Government has provided US$4 million in aid to help the southern province of Tien Giang give effect to a project on new agricultural initiatives in the 2013-2018 period. Laos, Vietnam bolster finance and banking cooperation (01/10/2014) The Danang Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) and the Savannakhet Branch of the Policy Bank of Laos (NBB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in central Danang city on September 30. They agreed to share experience and support each other in exchanging professional skills, and building cooperation documents.

Prince hails Brunei, Korea ties (02/10/2014) HIS Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, yesterday hailed the bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea in both the public and private sectors from oil and gas agreements, to shipbuilding, bridge building, agriculture and fisheries and rice production. The two leaders discussed ways for further cooperation and adopted a joint communique on Korean Peninsula denuclearization.

Investment opportunities introduced to Panama (02/10/2014) The Vietnam Embassy in Panama recently organized a dialogue with Panama businesses to introduce investment opportunities in Vietnam. The event attracted the participation of around 30 Panama business representatives who expressed admiration for Vietnam’s huge developmental achievements and showed a keen interest in such fields as health care, agriculture, industry, and tourism.

Tokyo considers investing in Dawei deep-sea port (03/10/2014) The Japanese government has mooted plans to invest in Burma’s Dawei deep-sea port project. Thai Foreign Ministry permanent secretary Sihasak Phuangketkeow yesterday accompanied Japan’s deputy-foreign minister Minoru Kiuchi and Japanese ambassador Shigekazu Sato on a courtesy call to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House. China, Malaysia vow to promote bilateral relationship (09/10/2014) Prime Minister Najib Razak has voiced his country’s readiness to support Chinese President Xi Jinping’s initiatives to build the 21 century Maritime Silk Road and establish an Asian infrastructure investment bank. Malaysia will actively involve and coordinate in them and broaden and deepen the two countries’ cooperation in all fields, Najib said during a meeting with visiting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi here Tuesday.

Chinese envoy Li Xiaolin and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe meet amid strained ties (09/10/2014) A senior Chinese official known for her close ties with President Xi Jinping briefly met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the top government spokesman in Tokyo said yesterday. Abe's meeting with Li Xiaolin, the youngest daughter of former president Li Xiannian who has known Xi since childhood, comes as the Japanese leader looks for his first summit with Xi to repair ties between China and Japan strained by territorial disputes and arguments over Japan's alleged lack of atonement for its wartime past.

Thai PM Set for Visit to Myanmar (09/10/2014) Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, leader of this year's military coup in Bangkok, will travel Thursday to neighboring Myanmar, also known as Burma, for high-level talks on trade, security and migrant workers. A senior Myanmar official, who did not want to be identified by name, told VOA's Burmese service the Thai leader will meet in Naypyidaw with Myanmar President Thein Sein. According to the Financial Supervisory Service on Wednesday, China`s net purchases of Korean listed stocks and listed domestic bonds reached 3.2 trillion won (3 billion dollars) this year up until September, to become the largest foreign investor group in Korea.

Singapore to strengthen cooperation in Indian Ocean Region: Shanmugam (09/10/2014) Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law K Shanmugam on Thursday attended the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) 14th Council of Ministers Meeting in Perth, Australia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. The meeting reviewed the progress made by IORA since the last meeting in 2013, and discussed future directions and initiatives to advance the interests of IORA and its members, according to the statement. AEC will bring in more investments (14/10/2014) The establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) will attract more investors in the region as the integrated regional economy is expected to bring more certainty and enhance investment return prospects, a senior banking executive said yesterday. China continues easing investment approvals (14/10/2014) The central government's investment project approvals will go down by 40 percent if an updated catalog is put into practice, an official said on Tuesday.
