Skeletal System! Function Of The Skeletal System: The Skeletal System Protects internal organs Drag picture and faculties movement by providing attachment sites for muscles. It provides structure to the body. Virus/ Infections: OsteomyelitisThis is an infection of the bone. It’s a purulent inflammation of bone caused by bacteria and only occasionally by other microorganisms. Homeostasis: Using the help of the respiratory system since it allows you to breath which helps you move. For example, if your running and your not breathing it can cause you to slow down and stop.

Pg. 2 Skeletal System And It’s Vocabulary! Bones: Provides support for our bodies and helps form our shape. The shape of a bone can indicate it’s function! Various types of bones are categorized by shape, including long, short, flat, and irregular.

Cartilage:
+
It holds bones together, helps in the formation of bones in growing children, and preventing the bones from rubbing each other. It is a firm but flexible connective tissue found in a lot of parts in human and animal bodies. Joint: It allows bones to move. It prevents friction between bones. Ligaments: Ligaments are in every joint in the body. This means that wherever two bones meet, ligaments are there to connect them.
Pg. 3 + A Scope Of Your Muscular System!
Function: The Muscular system allows movement of body parts. It also supports your body.
Virus/Infection: Cytomegalovirus- This is a viral infection that rarely causes obvious illness. The virus can be passed from an infected pregnant to her child through the shared blood supply.
Homeostasis: To provide structural framework for movement. They combined muscular/skeletal and called it the musculoskeletal.
+
Pg. 4 Muscular System And It’s Vocabulary! Cardiac:
This is a tissue that makes up your heart. Cardiac muscle contracts to squeeze blood out of your heart, and relaxes to fill your heart with blood. This muscle works constantly without ever pausing to rest. Skeletal: This allows you to move. You have control over your skeletal muscle unlike the cardiac. Smooth: This helps move materials throughout your body. Arteries and veins contain a layer of smooth muscles which controls the movement of blood flow through the blood vessel. Tendons: Tough strand of tissue which connects a muscle to a bone.
+
Pg.5 Inside The Circulatory System!
Function: The Circulatory System moves blood throughout your body. The heart is the pump for the system.
Virus/ Infection: Dengue fever- This is a painful, debilitating mosquito-borne caused by any one of four closely related dengue viruses.
Homeostasis: Works with the respiratory system because you breath in oxygen then the different parts of the circulatory system pumps the blood and oxygen throughout your body. And all this allow your muscles to work properly.
Ventricle: The right ventricle pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs. The left ventricle pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body. Arteries: Carries oxygen-rich blood away from the heart. Veins: Carry oxygen-poor blood back to the heart. Capillaries: Delivers oxygen-rich blood to body cells and takes oxygen-poor blood away from the cells. Blood: Fluid that carries gases, nutrients, and wastes throughout the body. Red Blood Cells: Brings oxygen to every cell in your body.
+
Left Atrium: Receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs. Right Atrium: Resaves oxygen-poor blood from the body.
Pg.6 Circul atory syste m and it’s Vocab ulary!
Heart: The Circulatory process starts with a pump action in the heart muscle. It circulates blood through the body.
+
Pg.7 Do You Know What’s In The Respiratory System?
Function: This System allows you to breath. Virus/ Infection: Respiratory Syncytial virus infection- This can infect the nose and throat. Symptoms may be, cough, runny nose, sore throat, earache, or fever. Homeostasis: works with the Nervous System because when your brain sends signals for you to breath, the different parts of the respiratory system does there job to allow you to breath.
Pg.8 Respiratory System And It’s Vocabulary! Pharynx: This is the passageway leading from the mouth and nose to the esophagus and larynx. Larynx:
+
This holds your vocal cords. Trachea: This is the windpipe. Bronchi: This is the main passageway into the lungs. Alveoli: These are tiny sacs surrounded by blood vessels.
+
Pg.9 How The Digestive System Functions!
Function: Breaks down food you eat into nutrients that can be used as building materials and that can provide energy for cells.
Virus/ Infection : Yellow FeverThis can damage the liver and other internal organs and potentially fatal.
Homeostasis: As you eat, the digestive system provides the heart with nutrients which is in the blood while pumped.
+
Pg.10 Digestive System And It’s Vocabulary! Mouth: Digestion begins in the mouth. Teeth, with the help of strong jaw muscles, break and crush food. Saliva: Food is moistened by saliva.
Esophagus: It’s a tube where waves of muscle contractions called peristalsis move the food into the stomach. Stomach: A muscular bag that crushes food and contains acids and enzymes for killing bacteria and breaking down proteins. Pancreas: Makes fluids that break down every type of material found in foods: Protein, carbohydrates, fats, and nucleic acids. Liver: Makes and releases a mixture called bile that is then stored in the gall bladder. Small Intestine: The inside wall has 3 walls that allows it to absorb nutrients. This is where chemical digestion takes place Large Intestine: This is where water and nutrients are absorbed.
Pg.11 A Scope Of The Nervous System! Function: The Nervous System is made of the structures that control the actions and reactions of the body in response to stimuli from the environment. Virus/ Infection: Rabies-This is an infection caused by a virus. It affects the brain and spinal cord of mammals including humans.
+
Homeostasis: The brain tells the musculoskeletal to move when needed. It also tells the person that there hungry send to eat which is the first step of digestion .
+
Pg.12 Nervous System And It’s Vocabulary! P.N.S: Has 2 main parts- the sensory part and the motor part. Your P.N.S Connects your C.N.S to the rest of the body. C.N.S: This is made up of all brain and spinal cord. Nerves: A collection of nerve cells extension bundled together with blood cells and connective tissue.
Drag picture Brain: to placeholder or click It receives constant impulses from all over the body. Spinal Cord: Allows your Brain to communicate with the rest of your body.
