Welcome to Camp OC

Our educational day camps are full of interactive fun and adventure. Campers experience small class sizes with experienced instructors and School District student volunteers. Camp OC is a great place to engage kids in their interests and passions such as engineering, arts, music, science, culinary arts, trades and computers. Whatever their interests, we’re sure they will find it here.

Please have your child bring a lunch and snacks to camp. Due to allergies please do not include any nut snacks. Be sure to make note of allergies or a special diet on the Camp OC Informed Parental Consent form. Campers should dress in weather appropriate play clothes and should bring a hat, running shoes, sun block, and a water bottle. If your child’s camp requires additional items they will be listed on their registration form. To withdraw from a camp, contact us by phone, fax, mail or in person. Full refunds will be given if the request to withdraw is made at least five business days in advance of the camp start date. Requests made less than five business days in advance of the camp start date, will be refunded 50 per cent of the registration fee. Refunds can take between two and four weeks to process and will be mailed in the form of a cheque.

*Please note refunds are not given for days missed.

Late/Absent

If your child will be absent, please notify camp staff by calling 250-862-5480 or e-mail campoc@okanagan.bc.ca It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that their child gets signed in at the beginning of camp. You will not be notified if your child is absent from the program.

If something is not meeting your expectations, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to fix the situation.

Behaviour and No Bullying Policy

A Day In The Life

Campers will be dropped off at 8:30 a.m. and picked up at 3:30 p.m. in their homeroom, located on your child’s registration confirmation, or at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Children will need to be signed out each day by an adult unless indicated otherwise on the Parental Consent Form • Start of Day 8:30 a.m. Break 2 p.m. (approx time) • Break 10 a.m. (approx time) End of Day 3:30 p.m. • Lunch 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. • End of Day 3:30 p.m. • After Camp Care 3:30 - 5 p.m. *Homerooms might change; Camp OC staff will direct you to the right room on Monday morning.

Okanagan College expects all campers to behave in a respectful way towards other campers, camp staff, equipment, and camp facilities. Parents will be notified if their child’s behaviour is inappropriate. If the inappropriate behaviour continues, Okanagan College holds the right to remove the child from camp, without a refund.

Informed Parental Consent Form

The Informed Parental Consent form needs to be filled out online, one week prior to your child’s camp starting. Please go to campoc.ca and follow the directions.

If you are between the ages of 14 and 18, and are currently enrolled at a middle or high school, you are eligible to volunteer at Camp OC. For more information on volunteering, please visit your school’s guidance or career counsellor or email campoc@okanagan.bc.ca for an application package.

Mini Game Programming using Minecraft ™

Do you play Minecraft? So do we! Let’s take a closer look at one of the biggest, most creative games ever made and learn a ton along the way. Attention paleontologists! For one week only, Camp OC will be transformed back 200 million years. You’ll create fossils, crack homemade T-Rex eggs, and build dinosaurs taller than you. Acting is Fun!

Do you like taking videos? Would you like to direct a short movie? Immerse yourself into the creative aspects of filmmaking, taking your vision from screenplay to screening. You and your Camp OC friends will write a storyline, develop characters and dialogue, give acting a try, and explore other artistic and technical elements of film production. So, get your clapperboard ready for an epic movie making camp that will finish with your movie’s premiere at the Camp OC mini film festival at the end of the week. Flight Academy

Are you curious about what it takes to become a pilot? Let our flight instructors introduce you to the world of flying. You will discover topics like theory of flight, airframes, engines, meteorology and radio communications. After a lesson in one of the most advanced simulators in Canada, you will then hop in a real plane and take a half-hour flight over Kelowna. Included are basic flight maneuvers that can be logged towards a real pilot’s license. **Instruction takes place at BOTH Okanagan College, KLO Campus and Southern Interior Flight Centre, Kelowna Airport depending on the given day.
