FITNESS FACILITY & CLASSES Access cards to fitness facilities are available for purchase at a cost of $10 from the administration office (Ashnola Building).

FACILITIES Access cards are $10. Pay at the administration office and bring your receipt to PC 146 for processing. Facility hours are available online. Posted hours are subject to change.

PERSONAL TRAINING & WEIGHT ROOM ORIENTATION A personal trainer can design a program best suited to help you achieve your fitness goals. Personal programs cost $75 for students and $150 for staff and include three sessions. If you would prefer to learn to use the equipment in a group setting, book an appointment for a free weight room orientation. Visit the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life office (PC 146) or call Jo Ann at 250-492-4305, ext 3274 for more information.

COMMUNITY SPORTS CONTACTS Community groups rent our gym for sports activities with the understanding that College students are welcome to participate. To participate in the following leagues and for more information, please contact the individuals listed. Registration deadlines and fees will apply. FITNESS FACILITY & CLASSES Join us for fun and fitness!

FITNESS PARTNER UP FOR LESS STRESS PROGRAM It is well documented that overall wellness is increased through participation in physical exercise. If you’re looking to find other students to play sports, go for a walk, or workout in the fitness center with, sign up for this program. We’ll help to connect you with others with the same interests as you. See staff in the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life office to sign up. ENTRY LEVEL EXERCISE Join fellow students who are learning how to exercise in a fitness facility. We’ll cover general knowledge about exercise and proper use of equipment. Note: The fitness center will be closed to all other users at this time. Dates: Wed, Sept. 11, 4 - 5 p.m. Mon, Sept. 16, 4 - 5 p.m. Tue, Sept. 17, 3 - 4 p.m. Cost: Free Location: PC 148 Register By: Wed, Sept. 10 WORKOUT WEDNESDAYS Come to the gym for a workout, enter your name for an amazing prize, and leave your workout feeling great about your accomplishment. Dates: First Wed of the month - Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4 FLOURISH WITH YOGA This beginner yoga class will help you foster your mind/body connection through gentle stretches and relaxation reducing stress and improving your wellbeing. As part of the Flourish Wellness Project, they’re offered on a drop-in basis to all staff and students. Yoga mats provided, or bring your own. SEPTEMBER BEACH PARTY Extend summer celebrations for this free summertime beach party. Try paddle boarding and kayaking, and enter to win draw prizes including beach towels, headphones, and wireless speakers. Snacks provided. Date: Fri, Sept. 6 (weather permitting) Time: 1 - 3 p.m. Location: Okanagan Beach (by SS Sicamous boat) Drop in - No registration needed WALK THE KVR TRAIL Join us for a walk down the gorgeous KVR trail. We’ll provide healthy snacks at the end of the hike. Register so we know you’ll be joining us. Date: Sat, Sept. 14 (weather permitting) Time: 1 - 3 p.m. Location: Meet at Vancouver Place cul-de-sac in Penticton Register by: Thu, Sept. 12

OCTOBER PING PONG SINGLES Sign up and we’ll include you in a round robin tournament format whereby you’ll schedule your own games with your opponent on your own time. Gift card prizes to be won. Enjoy a pizza dinner while playing Pictionary, Cranium, Battleship and so much more. INDIAN TACO SALE AND “DIRE STRAITS“ FUNDRAISER Aboriginal Services will be selling Indian Tacos for $6 each and all the proceeds raised will go to the “Dire Straits” Fund which supports students dealing with financial emergencies. WELLNESS WEDNESDAY AND MINDFUL MONDAY WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS A series of FREE drop in workshops to help you get curious about what YOU need to flourish. Learn strategies, connect with supports, and grow your ability to manage stress so you can be a more successful student. Sept. 11 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY COFFEEHOUSE Drop by and learn about the Flourish Wellness Project, meet our team, pick up some resources, and scope out upcoming activities. We’ll have music, free tea, coffee and snacks. Sept. 25 WALK 2 WATER Join in a leisurely stroll to Okanagan Lake and take in the scenery as you go. We’ll bring along Frisbees for those who want to stay for a while as well as snacks to keep you nourished. Oct. 9 CONSENT WORKSHOP Help create consent culture at OC through conversations about what consent is and how to foster it. Oct. 23 ESSENTIAL OILS Join guest speaker Natasha Scott to learn about how essential oils can support your wellness. Nov. 6 INDIGENOUS APPROACHES TO WELLNESS Come learn about Indigenous approaches to wellness. Activities include smudging and a craft. Held in PE C17

MINDFUL MONDAYS Drop in for a few minutes of mindfulness to help reduce stress and improve your focus and memory. No meditation experience necessary. Day: Mon, Sept. 16, Oct. 7, Oct. 28, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9 Time: 10:15 - 10:30 a.m. Location: PC 302 Penthouse Cost: Free

Nov. 20 SNACK-COURAGEMENT We all need a little encouragement now and then! We’ll discuss tips for stressful times, decorate granola bars with encouragements, and spread them around campus. Dec. 4 HOLIDAY GREENERY Take a break and get crafty as we create a beautiful festive centerpiece using greenery and other items. A great gift idea or keep it for yourself.

Oct. 15, 9 - 11 a.m. GRANTS NOT LOANS Student loan debt has increased by 88 per cent since 1999. Join us in the COE Foyer for coffee and sign a pledge for the BC Gov’t to bring back student grants.

Nov. 7 STRESS LESS FAIR OCSU and other campus partners are putting on a wellness fair. Join us for a zen zone, therapy dogs, healthy snacks, and more.
