FACILITIES PERSONAL TRAINING & WEIGHT ROOM ORIENTATION A personal trainer can design a program best suited to help you achieve your fitness goals. Personal programs cost $75 for students and $150 for staff and include three sessions. Or, if you would prefer to learn to use the equipment in a group setting, book an appointment for a free weight room orientation. Visit the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life office (PC 146) or call Jo Ann at 250-492-4305, ext. 3274 for more information.

Access cards are $10.

Pay at the administration office and bring your receipt to PC 146 for processing. Facility hours are available online at okanagan.bc.ca/recreation. Posted hours are subject to change.

ENTRY LEVEL EXERCISE Wanting to start a workout program but don’t know where to begin? Take this class and we’ll show you how to use our fitness center equipment properly and safely and give you tips on basic exercises using free weights and our resistance machines. Dates: Tuesday & Thursday, Jan. 14 & 16 Times: 4 - 5 p.m. Location: PC 148 Cost: Free Register by: Mon, Jan 13

SINGLES BADMINTON LEAGUE – MEN’S AND WOMEN’S DIVISIONS Sign up and we’ll include you in a round robin tournament format whereby you’ll schedule your own games with your opponent on your own time. FLOURISH WITH YOGA This beginner yoga class will help you foster your mind/body connection. We’ll work on building flexibility and strength to reduce stress and improve your wellbeing. As part of the Flourish Wellness Project, they’re offered on a drop-in basis and are open to all OC students and employees. Yoga mats provided, or bring your own. Dates: Thursday, Jan. 16 - Apr 9 (except Feb. 20) Times: 12:15 - 1 p.m. Location: Gymnasium (PC 145) Fee: Free

DODGEBALL You remember this fast paced game from high school. It’s just as much fun when played at College. Drop in to participate. Date: Mon, Mar. 9 Time: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Location: Gymnasium (PC 145)

JOIN IN WELCOME BACK 2020 Celebrate the new semester with a free lunch, games and prizes. A great place to learn about student services on campus. Date: Mon, Jan. 6 Time: 11 - 1 p.m. Location: Community Hall (PC 113) OCSU WELCOME BACK Join OCSU for a welcome-back snack. Catch up on all the great services we offer our membership (you!) and events we have planned for this semester. Date: Tuesday, Jan. 7 Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Location: COE Foyer 21 DAY WINTER HEALTH CHALLENGE Take on a new health challenge each day for 21 days and start feeling your best. Prizes go to top challenge finishers and we’ll draw prizes for participant prizes. Pick up your challenge card in the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life office, PC 146, in January. Dates: Jan. - Feb. Cost: Free CAPTIKWL – OKANAGAN STORYTELLING AND BEADING Join Anona as she takes you on an entertaining and interactive journey by sharing traditional Okanagan stories called captikwł (chap-teek). She will introduce you to the characters, explaining why they are significant and share traditional teachings within the story. This is the story of how Spider got long legs. After the story, we will work on a beaded craft, making beaded spiders. Date: Friday, Jan. 24 Time: 9 a.m. -10 a.m. Location: Foyer (Centre of Excellence)

STRESS BUSTER AAAHHHH!! Exams, assignments, job, family life… How is it possible to balance it all and still remain calm? Learn stress release strategies at this event. Visit with therapy dogs, play some games, make greeting cards, and so much more. Great draw prizes will be given away. Date: Thursday, Feb. 13 Time: 1 - 1 p.m. Location: PC 113 OC POTLUCK SERIES This is a monthly event for ALL students and staff to get together and have some great food and socialize with each other. Please bring your favorite dish and you never know what games we may have cooked up. Dates: Jan. 21, Feb. 27 Time: 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Location: Aboriginal Student Lounge (PE A17) IT’S A WRAP / CAREER FAIR Come join your fellow students for this free end of semester event featuring games, prizes and a delicious lunch. Jan 29 HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE/BODY POSITIVITY Join in a discussion about self -acceptance and the understanding that healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes. Feb 12 HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOURSELF & OTHERS Decorate a gratitude card for yourself or someone else and learn about boundaries and positive self talk. Feb 26 JOURNALING FOR WELLNESS Journaling can be a powerful tool for wellness. Discover journaling techniques – from bullet to gratitude to art journals. Try it out in a journal you can take home with you. Mar 11 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR WELLNESS. Join us to look at ways we can weave physical activity into our lives to help manage stress and boost wellness. All fitness levels and abilities welcome! Mar 25 WELLNESS AMBASSADOR INSPIRATION Our Wellness Ambassadors will lead a fun and fabulous session that is sure to inspire all students. Apr 8 PLANT A SEED Spring is the time for renewal and new growth. Plant a seed, take it home and as it sprouts and grows, remind yourself that you too are experiencing growth each day.

MINDFUL MONDAYS Drop in for a few minutes of mindfulness to help reduce stress and improve your focus and memory. OKANAGAN COLLEGE STUDENTS’ UNION EVENTS January 9 OCSU WINTER WELCOME BACK Join OCSU for a welcome-back snack. Catch up on all the great services we offer our membership (you!) and events we have planned for this semester. January 16 OPEN TEXTBOOKS NOW! How much did you spend on your textbooks for this semester? Too much? We feel that! Come see us and sign the pledge to ask our faculty and Board of Governors for more (FREE) Open Education Resources, and funding to make them. January 23 FAIRNESS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS & GRANTS NOT LOANS! International Students are paying too much for their tuition, and there is no regulation to keep institutions in check! BC is also the province with the lowest amount of non-repayable financial assistance for domestic students. Today we’re asking our institution and government to do better by ALL post-secondary students in BC.

February 5 LET’S GET CONSENSUAL We are talking consent and consent culture on campus. Stop by to learn how you can make a difference. February 11 SEXUAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY It’s back! Keep an eye out for OCSU’s Sexual Health mascots (you’ll know them when you see them.) They have tons of info, safer-sex products and can take you over to the nurses we have who are doing FREE, private STI screening. February 25 KNOCK OUT INTEREST Justin Trudeau’s campaign promise to lower interest on federal student loans wasn’t good enough. Sign the pledge to ask our Prime Minister to completely eliminate interest on federal student loans.

March 5 INTERNATIONAL WOMXN’S DAY We’re celebrating all womxn and feminism today. Join us for trivia, free t-shirts, cupcakes and so much more. March 19 WORLD WATER DAY/ SUSTAINABILITY DAY Do you think you can really taste the difference between bottled, tap, and filtered water? Sign our petition to eliminate all single-use bottled water from OC campuses. March 26 OCSU’S YEAR END PARTY The end is in sight! We want to celebrate, and hope you’ll join us! We’re getting food, tunes, drinks and amazing year-end prizes. Stay tuned for the official times and theme. Congratulations on another great year!
