COYOTES Coy-o-te (kahy-oh-tee): Regarded as a cultural hero and trickster, coyotes are widely known as opportunistic, intelligent carnivores that travel in packs. Often smaller in stature than other canines such as the wolf, coyotes are respected for their tenacity and adaptability - especially when on skates or in a ball diamond. Students who attend Okanagan College have the opportunity to play competitive baseball and hockey as a part of the Coyotes Athletics program – which operates out of Kelowna. The Coyotes hockey team competes in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL), which includes Selkirk College, Simon Fraser University, Thompson Rivers University, Trinity Western University, the University of the Fraser Valley and the University of Victoria.
The Coyotes baseball team competes in the Canadian College Baseball Conference, which includes teams from Thompson Rivers University, the University of Calgary, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Vancouver Island University and the Prairie Baseball Academy. Visit the Coyotes’ websites for information on try-outs, schedules and league standings.
