Accounting and Payroll Basic Accounting Certificate

If you’re working to keep the books competently for a small business, or are interested in an entry-level accounting job, this 66-hour hands-on program can provide you with the necessary expertise. It also provides a good foundation for those who are planning to study computer-based accounting such as Simply Accounting. This two-module program covers accounting concepts, generally accepted accounting principles, the rules of debit and credit, the accounting cycle, using the general journal to record transactions and posting to the general ledger. Preparation of financial statements, periodic adjustments, and year-end books are also covered. In the second module, you’ll learn about specialized journals and the use of subledgers to track customers and vendors. After a brief overview of computer hardware, participants will learn the basics of the Windows operating environment with emphasis on basic terminology, the desktop, icons and shortcuts, the taskbar, launching and closing applications, multi-tasking between programs, and basic Windows properties. Horticulture Birch Tapping and Syrup Production

Be introduced to “sugaring off” boreal forest style. Tapping birch sap is considered “agro-forestry” and the sap itself is a “non-timber forest product” (NTFP). The workshop will focus on tree and sap physiology, backyard and commercial supplies and equipment, legislation and marketing, food safe production, culinary uses, and an introduction to other products that can be made from the birch tree. Connections and Contrasts in Series Painting

Designed to open new avenues to creativity, this workshop will begin with a brief overview of the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Period. It will feature primarily the series paintings of Monet, Cezanne, and Van Gogh as a means of demonstrating and exploring some of the similarities and differences in their approach to creativity. The objective of our Prenatal Classes is to allow the mother-to-be, her partner and/or her support person to gain the essential knowledge of a healthy pregnancy, learn the practical skills so important to a positive childbirth experience, as well as receive valuable information on early care of the newborn. Our childbirth educators work in partnerships with the client, health professionals and the community. The course consists of six classroom hours plus a hospital tour. REFUND POLICY

Students will be issued a full refund or a letter of credit if Okanagan College cancels a course.
