victorian Victorian homes were popular around the 1900’s and have more of a hexagon shape. It usually has many windows and distinctive trim, often known as a “gingerbread” house. It had many colors and lots of little details.


shed These houses were popular in 1960 and are asymmetrical. Mostly made of shingles, board or brick. The roofs are often split and slanted different ways to give a more unique look.


Ranch This type of house is a one story home that might have a basement. These houses are longer in width more than height. It’s a very simplistic design and has an average amount of windows. Also does not have as many design aspects as some other houses.


Prarie is a simple square design with different heights and depths making a unique form also has large overhangs that protects sunlight. They often blend into nature and has more tans and browns and popular in the 1900’s.


Italianate These houses usually have low-pitched roofs made of tile as well as large tall windows. It’s more of an elegant design and is made to mimic an italian villa. It has more of a historic style.


Greek Revival Inspired by the White House and most greek revival houses have large columns that provide a more classic look and have an open floor plan. They can also be inspired by some buildings in Greece.


Georgian Popular through 1700 and 1780’s. used to show you had a lot of money and show that you were in a higher class. It is symmetrical and bricks were very common as well as some kind of covering over the entryway.


Geodesic Geodesic homes are firm structures that are able to withstand storms and earthquakes. They are not very ideal to live in and mostly used as a greenhouse.


Federal ot as fancy as Georgian but still has two to three stories and has a classic box design. It has colonial style and was built around the Revolutionary War. And was popular around 1780 and 1830. N


Craftsman These houses are usually one story tall a low slope roof. Also has distinctive square pillars. It has many different materials and is definitely a style you see more of around this time.


A-Frame An a frame house is characterized by a steep triangular roof. It has less living space than traditional houses. They are more popular for vacation cottages or second homes.
