“I feel very proud and honoured to have signed a new contract to be manager of Yeovil Town.”

DARREN WAY Staying Manager For Next 3 Years.. By YTFC | @YTFC

Y

eovil Town Football Club is delighted to announce that Darren Way has today signed a new three-year contract as he plans to build on the successes of the past few months.

Way took over the reins at Huish Park as manager on 1st December 2015 following the departure of Paul Sturrock.

real commitment and love for the club and I really appreciate that, so thank you.

Since being appointed manager of the Glovers, Way has instigated a miraculous turn around in form, which has seen the team climb the League Two table with the turnaround being sure to go down in history.

“Moving on, I have a vision for the club where I can nurture the future talent; this is a fantastic football club to build a future for and I will take 100% responsibility in making sure I do that.

The Glovers boss said: “I feel very proud and honoured to have signed a new contract to be manager of Yeovil Town.

“I would like to thank everyone associated with Yeovil Town for their backing and that continued support is something I need more than anything to help me build this great club back up again.

"Since I was a young lad it has always been my dream to become a professional footballer and follow that up by becoming a football manager.

“Let’s finish this season loud and proud with a very strong gallop and at the same time, look forward to next season. “Let’s keep marching on together and achieve by unity.”

"It was a massive honour for me to lead this great football club out as captain when we played our first game in the Football League against Rochdale after 108 years in non-league football and now I am leading the club as manager.

Chairman John Fry said: “I have worked with Darren as a player and coach for 15 years. He has already committed to being a big part of the Glovers future plans. “We have found an extraordinary leader and manager in Darren, who has the full backing of everyone at Huish Park, not only to build a squad, but a Club, that will achieve and sustain League One status within the next five seasons. He will not let our supporters down.”

"The history this fantastic club has is remarkable and it has been my biggest job not to be scared and keep this club alive. "When I first took over, I knew the environment I was going to be working in so I had a better understanding of what needed to be done. I had to get our players to become winners overnight and listen to simple instructions. I have been honest with them since I took over and at times I have been forceful with them. I wanted the players to play with their hearts and heads and play with good quality that will entertain our supporters.

Fry added: “So far this season, he has made a major impact on our chances of staying in the Football League. With the emergency loan system changing at the end of this season, Darren is the right person to work with our Academy staff, to produce young players for the future of Yeovil Town.” ”I know that everyone connected with Huish Park will congratulate Darren and wish him all success for the future.”

“Every fan has the right to voice their concerns but at the same time, our supporters have showed

ack Compton's 15th minute penalty gave Yeovil Town a valuable 1-0 win at Huish Park as the Glovers edged closer to League Two safety. Way made four changes to his side to face the Exiles. Darren Ward was injured in the 0-0 draw with Carlisle, and the Town captain dropped out of the starting eleven alongside Ben Tozer, Ryan Bird and Brandon Goodship. Liam Shephard had signed on loan before the goalless draw on Good Friday, but the returning Swansea loanee went straight into Darren Way’s starting ineup. The three other replacements were Shaun Jeffers, Tahvon Campbell and Connor Roberts, who made his debut for the Wales Under-21 team off the bench against Romania last week. Newport started the game in a positive fashion, and Town keeper Krysiak had to be at his best to stop Exiles striker Scott Boden from just inside the six-yard box. But Yeovil were ahead just before 15 minutes. Campbell was floored in the box by the already-booked Holmes and referee Hill pointed to the spot but didn't show the defender a second yellow. Compton stepped up and calmly slotted home the spot kick to give Town the lead. Campbell and Newport winger Alex Rodman were both shown yellow cards for an off-the-ball scuffle five minutes before half-time and it was to be the last of the action of the half. The only change at the interval was for neither Yeovil or Newport; referee Keith Hill came off with injury and had to be replaced by linesman Brett Huxtable. However, Town manager Way was forced to make a

change just five minutes into the second half, as goal scorer Compton hobbled off to be replaced by Dawson. Newport came close to levelling matters when debutant Souleymane Coulibaly headed a whipped cross onto the post, but even if it had found the top corner the striker's effort was ruled for offside. Jeffers had to be taken off injured after a collision with goalkeeper Joe Day, and the former Newport forward made way for Town top scorer Bird as Yeovil looked to get an important second goal. Lenell John Lewis came on for Coulibaly with 25 minutes of the game remaining, and the former Grimsby forward was serenaded onto the pitch with a chant of "his name is a shop" by the travelling Exiles fans. Nathan Smith was booked by substitute referee Huxtable for a foul on Tommy O'Sullivan and with a free-kick in shooting distance, it was a nervy moment at Huish Park. Fortunately for Town, Mark Byrne's shot went high and wide into the travelling fans behind the goal. The away side wanted a penalty with ten minutes to go as Rodman went over in the box after a challenge by Campbell, but the referee waved away the appeals and Newport were awarded a corner. Despite pressure from the away side, man of the match Krysiak was relatively untroubled and the Pole held on for another clean sheet and Yeovil earned another valuable three points as 'we are staying up' rang around Huish Park.

WHERE EXACTLY CAN

YEOVIL FINISH ?

By Ollie Keable

W

ith only six games to win and a potenitial 18 points at grabs. Yeovil could potentially finish the season 12th if results went their way but where exactly could Yeovil finish. THE RUN IN TO THE FINAL DAY Yeovil have 5 games left to play to determin where they will finish in League 2, saftey is all but achived. Next up for Yeovil is a home tie against Exeter, which is one of 2 games left at Huish Park the other coming up against Midland based team Northampton. The other 3 games are all on the road with a short trip to big rivals Bristol Rovers, then they will go up against Wycomb, before coming cup agains Barnet in the last game of the season. Potential with the form of the team in the last past month. i see Yeovil acheiveing at least 10 - 12 points and a potential finsh of 14/15th. They face tough battles against Northampton and the derby. But all in all it should be a good run in for the Somerset Outfits. QUESTIONS THAT WILL BE ASKED Firstly i think the main one on everyones lips is can Zoko get his scoring touch back? And personally i think yes he can most strikers will go through a patch without scoring and it usally lasts about 4-5 games withing some strikers. Ever since Zoko has arrived he has been in fine form for the glovers raxking up a total of 6 goals in 19 apperances.

13

Secondly, can we achieve a play off place next season? Yes i think under Darren Way we can, he’s a man who knows and bleeds the club. He is the kind of man a leader to take Yeovil back to League 1 and who knows afterwards. He will have his first full season next year after penning a new 3 year deal to stay on as manager after taking over in December, and we’ll see what kind off manger he is with the players he brings in over summer. Lastly how will we shape up against Exeter? as well as all the other teams we’re yet to play i think the best way to line up is with the best 11, the same with any other team, and i think over the last 4/5 games he has found out who has steped up to the table to be that kind off player to help take the team foward. The only concern is Lita if he can stay fit i think him and Zoko up front could potentailly prove deadly next seaon if Yeovil decied to extend their contracts further. WHO WILL BE THE STAND OUT PLAYER The player i see being a stand out for Yeovil in the final 5 matches is either Liam Walsh or even Fransico Zoko. Walsh ever since arriving on loan from Everton he has grown from week to week and has started to become a decent midfield player for The Glovers. Zoko on the other hand can provied the strength and the goal threat up front tho help push Yeovil over the line to win match’s even if they have to be grinded out, but as long as we get all three points who really cares how the game goes.

After joining Birmingham from his hometown club in Poland for ÂŁ60,000 in 2008, Krysiak spent time out on loan at Gretna, York, Swansea, Motherwell and Burton Albion before joining The Grecians two years later. The 24-year-old made 142 appearances for Exeter over four seasons primarily as the number one keeper before agreeing to join Yeovil on a two-deal at the beginning of the 2014/15 season after the expiry of his contract at St James Park.

he Glovers continued their unbeaten run with a 0-0 draw with Stevenage. The goalless draw made it eight clean sheets in nine games for Darren Way’s men. Town made two changes from the starting eleven that defeated Newport County three days earlier. Leroy Lita was selected to make his first start for the Glovers in the place of Shaun Jeffers and midfielder Ben Tozer made a return in the place of Swansea City loanee Liam Shephard

20

Within one minute of kick-off the home side could and should have opened the scoring. A mix up between Krysiak and Roberts saw the ball fall to winger Jake Mulraney on the edge of the area, and with the goal at is mercy he sent his shot high over the bar and over the stand. Town started to grow into the game with Ryan Dickson forcing a number of corners with his surging runs from the left-back position. On 16 minutes Town had claims for a penalty turned away by referee Mr Kinseley. Despite holding up play to have words with the players for shirt pulling, Mr Kinseley waved away claims for a penalty when Nathan Smith was having his shirt pulled at the back post. At half time both managers made a change to their starting eleven. Darren Way exchanged Kevin Dawson for Marc Laird. Whilst the home side replaced Jake Mulraney with Chris Whelpdale. With 70 minutes on the clock Tahvom Campbell cut in from the left wing to tee up Dolan. The former Hartlepool man cut back onto his left foot, but his shot curled wide of Jones’ goal. Town made their final substitution of the match with just over 15 minutes remaining when Lita was replaced by Francois Zoko, who was making his return to action following a spell on the sidelines with a calf injury. With just under ten minutes remaining sub Kevin Dawson beat his man Kennedy, who decided he couldn’t catch the midfielder so instead just kicked Dawson off the ball to stop him breaking away. Referee Kinseley deemed the tackle worth only a yellow, much to the surprise of the Town bench.

but both teams now look safe from League Two relegation. Yeovil goalkeeper Artur Krysiak claimed his eighth clean sheet in his past nine games for the Glovers.

Yeovil are 14 points clear of the relegation zone, while Stevenage are 10 points clear.
