Why you should list in the directory Oregon’s premier producers on the value to crew, community and commercial activity

2014 Call for Listings The 2014 SourceOregon directory is now open for ordering new listings and renewing existing ones. Our top producers explain why you should be listed. “As the owner of the Portland based production company @Large Films and an advocate for bringing more business to the state, I cannot express how important it is to have a reference like SourceOregon. It is vital that the list is up-to-date with crew and vendor information and that all active members are represented so that our abundance of production services and crew in the state of Oregon is accurately represented. It is essential that we showcase a united list of capable crew to meet the growing demands of our industry. Anytime we are in need of filling a crew position accessing the SourceOregon list is a no-brainer. Knowing that people have been pre-vetted by having submitted references to list in the book is huge and more often than not that person then becomes one of our regular go-to people. On top of that, listing in the directory is also a great way to joining the trade association (OMPA) which has our back when it comes to fighting for more work in Oregon.” - Juliana Lukasik, Principal/Director of @ Large Films, Inc.

“Having a single resource for personnel, equipment & services is a necessity in our business given the time constraints that are our way of life. Also, as a producer

in Portland, I am regularly called on to refer crew and services to out-of-town productions coming to Oregon. I simply direct those producers to the SourceOregon directory.” - Emily Fincher, Executive Producer at Wieden + Kennedy

“The directory is one of the most valuable tools I use as a producer. Sure I have my most admired crew people on speed dial, but occasionally they are booked and I need more choices. Having everyone’s complete contact information in one place online is great. I would also urge everyone to list for another reason; When I’m crewing a project in another state I always look up that state’s film directory. Same as a producer in LA would do if they were shooting a project in Oregon. I can’t help but be influenced when I budget by a state’s directory. A thin directory means I budget to travel crew. A fat directory I’m more confident in that areas ability to provide experienced crews with quality equipment. In short I take that place seriously as a production center. As a community we can create more work for everyone if many of us list. Our directory needs to reflect the breadth and depth of our wonderful p r o d u c t i o n community. That by itself will create more work for everyone. Just list f*ckers!” - David Allen Cress, Producer, Portlandia

“If you’re not listing in SourceOregon, then you’re keeping your talent a secret from the world. List and let your light shine forth!”

“As the Oregon production industry grows we find our crew resources stretched thin. When I need additional qualified crew I look to SourceOregon for help.” - Ben Olberg, Production Manager, Picture This Production Services

- Aaron Kirk Douglas, Independent Producer

“When I need to find a resource, makeup, lighting or just a good editor the first place I look is in the SourceOregon Directory. I list myself in the directory to let others know I am here ready to work for them.” - Ed Mellnik, President, EMA Video Productions, Inc.

“We had very little time to get up and running in Oregon for season two of Leverage, and OMPA’s SourceOregon guide was a big help. The fact that we were able to go to one place for so many important resources saved us time, money and headaches.” - Kearie Peak, Co-Executive Producer, Leverage

“The book’s value is in the completeness of the list. As things get busier in Oregon, I am constantly trying to stay on top of who is here and who’s available.” - Jeff Harding, Producer, Kamp Grizzly

“Knowing that people have been prevetted by having submitted references to list in the book is huge. Craigslist and Facebook are a great way to make friends or to sell a sofa, but it isn’t how we put together a professional crew.” - Kate Raphael, Producer/Director, Studio Kate

“I frequently refer to the directory... Quite often I’ll find crew and vendors that I had not previously worked with. The directory is an invaluable tool for me.” - Brett Carlson, Line Producer

“If you want to be part of a unified voice promoting Oregon Film and Television, it is essential to be included in this valuable directory. Not only do you benefit with work, but you are also supporting the critical lobbying efforts that OMPA so passionately participates in.” - Gretchen Miller Order or renew your directory listing today!

Last Days of Crowdfunding for Oregonmade Feature Bad Exorcists

Campaign ends on Sat, Oct 5 OMPA member Harold Phillips reports: “I... worked on a hilarious comedy earlier this year called Bad Exorcists, produced by a team of ambitious young filmmakers with roots firmly planted in the University of Oregon. The film wrapped production back in July, and it’s shaping up really well, but the producers want to bring on a colorist, composer, sound designer and special effects artist to help the film compete with other big-budget comedies. “They’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to help them raise the $20,000 needed to hire these professionals and bring them into the post-production process. They’re 3/4 of the way to their goal, but they’ve only got [a few more] days to raise the remaining $4,000. Can you help put them over the top? These guys can create a real splash

with Bad Exorcists, and the more polished the film is, the more attention they get from backers when they start production on their next film! If you’ve got a little spare change, please consider contributing... the campaign deadline is October 5, so don’t wait!”
