Dear
Director’s Letter
OMPA members, Happy New Year! The advent of a new year is often ripe with expectations, hope and change. OMPA started 2017 with change as we successfully moved into our new office, at 2828 SE 14th Avenue, Suite B, Portland (97202). We are hoping and expecting our members to see our office as your hub for connecting and collaborating. Now that we are in a larger space, we have room for our members to reserve a spot to hold meetings with other members. We have an extra office space that members can temporarily rent. Ultimately, we want you to feel welcome in this office, as we are a membership association and our office is your office. Now that Grimm is wrapping, many people are asking “What’s next?” Remember, OMPA’s community is filled amazing, talented, generous professionals to help guide your next. Use your SourceOregon as your networking tool to meet other OMPA members as your determine what “next” looks like to you. OMPA’s 2017 SourceOregon will be available in early February. Another way for you to spark opportunities is to attend OMPA’s networking events and let me or Anne know your goals so we can help connect you with other members. OMPA has successfully exceeded our goals of 2016, we are ready to expand our “next” for 2017. OMPA will be hosting our Annual Meeting on January 23rd (location will be announced in our Members email blasts). Please save the date (from 6:30-8:00) and come to our first event of the year to meet our newly elected Board Members; learn about our 2016 recap and OMPA’s goals for 2017. Thank you for being a part of OMPA; cheers to a fresh year, new opportunities and new collaborations.
Membership matters,
Janice

animation spotlight house special
Though recently celebrating their second birthday, animation studio HouseSpecial has a rich 35-year legacy of bringing anything to life. The Portland-based creative team is known for its ability to develop compelling characters in memorable narratives for iconic international brands such as M&M’S, Supercell, Planters, Apple, Chipotle and Target. In true Oregon maker culture, artists wear many hats as animators straddle stop motion, CG and 2D; DPs light both stage and CG sets; directors helm projects across all mediums including live action. Collectively, these talented artists seamlessly blend practical and digital elements to create mixed-media content for original short films, advertising, social media and mid-form markets. Under the leadership of partners Lourri Hammack, Kirk Kelley and Alvaro Cubillas, the HouseSpecial team has collaborated on hundreds of projects and is currently developing a diverse range of original properties— all to be produced in the state of Oregon. 7
