Ribeira d’Ilhas guarda um lugar muito especial na História do Surf Português por ser o berço da competição no nosso país. As condições naturais desta praia obrigam a Liga a regressar ano após ano, sendo a etapa mais “estanque” do circuito. É também sempre o palco de grandes revelações pois é raro o ano em que algo muito surpreendente não acontece. Foi aqui que Tiago Pires venceu pela primeira vez e, apesar de já não correr a Liga, é o local que para sempre estará ligado ao seu nome. Durante três dias as ondas apresentaram-se sempre boas, permitindo aos novos talentos mostrar o que sabem. A nova geração dominou mas foram dois juniores da Ericeira que venceram, Tomás Fernandes e Carina Duarte, algo inédito até agora nesta que é considerada a zona de Portugal com as melhores ondas.
Back at the birthplace of portuguese competitive surfing allianz ericeira pro by o’neill Ribeira d’Ilhas holds a very special place in the history of Portuguese surfing for being the birthplace of competitive surfing of our country. The natural conditions of this beach compel the League to return year after year, being the oldest event on the circuit. It is also always the stage for major spoilers because since it is rare when something very surprising does not happen. It was here that Tiago Pires won for the first time and despite no longer running the League, is the place that will forever be attached to his name. For three days Ribeira delivered good conditions, allowing new talent to show what they know. The new generation dominated but it was two juniors from Ericeira, Tomås Fernandes and Carina Duarte, who took top honors, something unheard of until now in the land considered to have the best waves of Portugal.

Nesta edição de 2013 disputou taco-a-taco um lugar no round de 16 com Tomás Fernandes mas o local levou a melhor e o resultado do passado não se repetiu. || About 10 years ago it was in Ribeira d’Ilhas that Edgar Nozes qualified for the first time to the semi-finals at the league. Antes deste manobrão Filipe Jervis já tinha acertado algumas batidas fortes mas esta deu-lhe projecção e power para passar a secção e encaixar mais alguns “tags” no inside. Jervis ficou a precisar de uma segunda onda para vencer Blanco! || Before nailing this huge move Filipe Jervis had already done some damage on this wave with some strong snaps.
