Ribeira d’Ilhas holds a very special place in the history of Portuguese surfing for being the birthplace of competitive surfing of our country. The natural conditions of this beach compel the League to return year after year, being the oldest event on the circuit. It was here that Tiago Pires won for the first time and despite no longer running the League, is the place that will forever be attached to his name.
For three days Ribeira delivered good conditions, allowing new talent to show what they know. The new generation dominated but it was two juniors from Ericeira, Tomás Fernandes and Carina Duarte, who took top honors, something unheard of until now in the land considered to have the best waves of Portugal.
