bem-vindo

The most further north event of the entire Liga MOCHE, the Sumol Porto Pro, had a bit of everything: good waves, variety, party, and the presence of the best surfers in the circuit. Again the new generation stood out and dominated the final stages of the event. The contest started at Praia International and ended with good waves in Leรงa da Palmeira where Frederico Morais and Vasco Ribeiro fought for the title wave by wave. In the end it was Morais who won and secured the ratings lead, making this one of the most important events of the year!

MOREIRA CHOSE THE RIGHT
|| In the distance it was hard to tell who this surfer was. All we could see was that he surfed on his rail like a veteran. But we find out that the “veteran” is 14 years old João Moreira. Unfortunatly the grom lost in round 1 but we can’t stop thinking where his surf will be in four years... PHOTO BY CARLOSPINTOPHOTO.COM
LIPKE CHOSE THE LEFT
|| Despite having already been on the WCT and having won on the WQS, Marlon Lipke has yet to win at League MOCHE. On this day there everyone realize how his power surfing has the potential to win any league, and that kind of surf gave him the best combined score of round 1 (16.25). PHOTO BY CARLOSPINTOPHOTO.COM

|| It’s really hard to tell if Francisco Alves is getting more power in his turns going left or right. At Praia International he was abel to spread the “magic” on the lefts, winning two heats with ease. PHOTO BY CARLOSPINTOPHOTO.COM

first match...
|| Edgar Nozes’s presence on the 2013 tour could be described as solid. At Praia Internacional he surfed really well to advance in second behind Miguel Blanco. Their second match would be at another spot and it would be a lot more competitive. UNEXPECTED EARLY EXIT
|| Even though is backside surfing isn’t far behind, when Marlon Lipke finds lefts, big or small, the result is always the same, something great to watch. A Different game
|| Francisco Alves showed a completely different competition game, comparing with the past season, and that probably explains how easily he’s been getting great scores. Checking out
|| Despite having landed explosive turns like this the quarter finals eluded Eduardo Fernandes again, losing a close heat with Zé Ferreira and Tomas Fernandes, and checking out earlier than expected. SECOND MATCH...

SIAMESE OPPONENTs
|| After his win in the first stop of the year Francisco Alves ran into a surfer who has been his most regular opponent of the season, Miguel Blanco. Despite being at the top of his surfing it was his opponent who got the better of him with a good wave in the end of the quarter finals heat. PHOTOS BY CARLOSPINTOPHOTO.COM
CRowd Favourite
|| João Guedes was the local favorite and proved he is going through a great period in his carrer, finishing much higher (5th place) in this event than the year before. the bully
|| If the league was a school yard, Frederico Morais could be considered a bully, he has been showing everyone his superiority in every way he can and at all times. Pass The leader
|| Miguel Blanco knew what he had to do to keep advancing. His goal was to win the event (although he lost in the semi finals to Vasco Ribeiro) and despite not being able to do it, he did take out the ratings leader, Francisco Alves, with flawless maneuvers like this one. ONE MAN’S Mistake...
|| Tomás Fernandes had threatened to get a great result in the first stop of the tour and in Porto he attacked all sections with projection, getting good scores in compensation. He took out names like Nicolau Von Rupp, and looked set to reach the final but one tactical error in the semi-final against Vasco Ribeiro threw away their chances of advancing further. PHOTO BY CARLOSPINTOPHOTO.COM
...is another MAN’s OPPORTUNITY!
|| As if Vasco Ribeiro wasn’t dangerous enough, doing a mistake against him in a heat could be fatal.
