Kelly Weir and Matthew Woodrow have known each other for 15 years. “We went to the same high school and were very close friends for a lot of those years. Lots of high school parties, festivals and good times have been spent together. We used to have pre drinks at Matthew’s grandma’s house when we were in our early 20s and have since bought that house and renovated it. The house has been in the family for nearly 70 years. It wasn’t until we both found ourselves single and I had moved to Brisbane that we started to see other other in a different light! Matthew proposed on Fraser Island during a camping trip. He had set up a GoPro and a message written in the sand. Just as I was walking towards him, a huge wave washed the message away, and once he dropped the knee another wave washed the GoPro into the ocean.”

“We eloped with just our closest family as our witnesses. We wanted something simple yet significant. My 10 year old walked me down the aisle. One of our highlights was when Matthew was reading his vows and started to get emotional. My 2 year old niece yelled out, ‘Oh no!’ We were lucky to have our close friend and Masterchef contestant, Brent Draper provide the catering. After the ceremony we had two photo sessions because... why not! Levi from Beaux Art Co. captured our incredible film portraits around Fortitude Valley.”
