Abstract

Profile of outgoing legislators and congressional elections 2020: renewal in the Legislative Power? it is a report containing an analysis of the composition of the National Congress during the period 2016-2020 and the renewals observed with the congressional and presidential elections of July 5. In the last eight years, the profile of Dominican congressmen has mostly focused on people with a high academic degree, an average age of 53 to 54, and between 40 and 60 % who achieved re-election. During the 2020 presidential and congressional elections, 39.6% of lawmakers were re-elected. This article seeks to present the profile of outgoing legislators and identify changes generated in the structure of institutions after the elections.
