Mae’r gweithiau celf yn cyfleu gweledigaethau personol y byd, yn datgelu defnydd dyfeisgar o ddeunyddiau, ac yn amrywio o ran maint. O gerfluniau bychain wedi’u cerfio i ddeintbigau a blaenau pensilau plwm, i gerbydau wedi’u gwneud o sgrap wedi’i ailgylchu, ac o ffigurau rhisgl bedwen wedi’u gwehyddu, maint bywyd, i benwisg briodasol wedi’i wneud o ffabrig lapiedig ac addurniedig. Obscured Light — Misshapen Vistas Eifion Sven-Myer

TestBed 16 Ebrill / April — 15 Mehefin / June 2016 Mae Eifion Sven-Myer yn creu gosodiad mewn ymateb i’r gofod TestBed, sy’n cynnwys y golau’n chwarae ar ddrychau, strwythurau pren a dalennau plastig mwyhaol. Mae’n gobeithio newid ein dealltwriaeth o ffurf a gofod: creu golygfeydd rhyfedd drwy fwyhad a golau sydd yn adlewyrchu oddi ar wrthrychau cerfluniol. Mae ei ddefnydd o ddrychau ceimion, acrylig yn adlewyrchu’r golygfeydd hyn, tra bod siapiau haniaethol wedi’u paentio yn cael eu hymblethu i harmoneiddio’r cyfansoddiad cyffredinol. Cefnogir Obscured Light – Misshapen Vistas gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru.

TestBed supports new and experimental work by artists based in Wales and the Borders. Mae TestBed yn cefnogi gwaith newydd ac arbrofol gan artistiaid sydd wedi'u lleoli yng Nghymru a'r Gororau.

Eifion Sven-Myer is creating an installation in response to the TestBed space that incorporates the play of light on mirrors, wooden structures and magnifying plastic sheets. He wishes to alter our understanding of form and space: creating peculiar vistas through magnification and light reflected off sculptural objects. His use of warped, acrylic mirrors reflect these vistas while painted abstract shapes are interwoven to harmonise the overall composition. Obscured Light – Misshapen Vistas has been supported by Arts Council of Wales

Moving On Elizabeth Brickell

TestBed 25 Mehefin / June — 29 Awst / August 2016 Mae gwaith Elizabeth Brickell yn cael ei wreiddio mewn synwyrusrwydd cyffyrddol. Mae hi’n harbwr gwrthrychau sy’n cael eu trwytho â chof a chysylltiad gyda lle neu achlysur. Mae casgliad o lwyau, sy’n amrywio o ran maint a dimensiwn, yn cael eu cynnwys yn y gofod: mae pob llwy yn ynganu ei unigoliaeth yn glir ac yn cael ei ddwysáu drwy ei ail-greu mewn latecs tenau. Mae’r ‘crwyn’ cain hyn yn archwilio’r syniadau o freuder ac yn cyfeirio at y weithred o ‘symud ymlaen’. Er wedi’u hailddyfeisio, maent yn gadael croen o’r ‘hyn a oedd’ tu ôl. Yn yr ystyr ehangach, mae’r gwaith yn ceisio mynd i’r afael â bregusrwydd dynol.

Elizabeth Brickell’s practice is rooted in a tactile sensibility. She harbors objects that are imbued with memory and connection to a place or occasion. A collection of spoons, of varying size and dimension, is contained in the space: each spoon clearly pronouncing its individuality and heightened by its recreation in thin latex. These delicate ‘skins’ explore notions of fragility and reference the act of ‘moving on’. While being a reinvention they leave behind a skin of ‘what was’. In the broader sense, the work aims to address human vulnerability. Elizabeth Brickell Latex Spoons

Comisiwn flora flora commission

A New Niche for Nature Anne-Mie Melis 06 Awst / August — 15 Hydref / October 2016 Mae pedwerydd comisiwn flora, a’r olaf mewn partneriaeth ag Oriel Myrddin, yn datgelu ffocws Anne-Mie Melis ar Afon Tywi ac yn benodol, y pwynt lle mae’r tir a’r dwr yn cwrdd - lle mae rhywogaethau planhigion prin a dan fygythiad a phlanhigion ymledol yn cystadlu i oroesi. Wrth dynnu sylw at natur fregus y cydbwysedd hwn ochr yn ochr â chwestiynau ecolegol ehangach, mae hi’n creu amgylchedd newydd neu gilfach ecolegol i blanhigion dyfu drwy greu swbstrad artiffisial. The fourth and final flora commission in partnership with Oriel Myrddin reveals Anne-Mie Melis’ focus on the River Tywi and in particular the point at which land and water meet - where rare and endangered plant species and invasive plants compete for survival. Highlighting the precariousness of this balance alongside wider ecological questions, she creates a new environment or ecological niche for plants to grow through the creation of an artificial substrate.
