MARQUEE June 4 - 9, 2019

Dear Friends, Welcome to this performance of Anastasia. This show is a romantic and moving tale that will sweep you back in time and fill your soul with joy. I am positive I do not need to tell you this, but Hamilton excitement is in full swing in Memphis! Everyone is making plans to attend one of the upcoming twenty-four performances. The staff of the Orpheum is also anxious for this fantastic production to get to the Bluff City. But don’t let our wonderful upcoming season get lost amidst the fanfare of this summer’s blockbusters. We have planned a 2019-2020 season that is certain to appeal to everyone! For those who love classic musicals, we have Hello, Dolly! For those who want the latest offerings direct from Broadway, we have Dear Evan Hansen and Come From Away. For children of all ages, we offer Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Disney’s Aladdin. For those looking for more adult fare, we present A Bronx Tale and season option number one, The Book of Mormon. And finally, for those who like non-musical comedies, we bring you season option number two, The Play That Goes Wrong. Like I said, something for everyone! This season is also guaranteed to make you run the gamut in emotional responses. You will laugh uproariously at some shows, cry unabashedly at a couple, be moved by the goodness of mankind at a few, and finally, be overjoyed at the pure exuberance of others. It is a season that is not to be missed! Season ticket packages for the 2019-2020 season are now on sale to everyone. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to go online now to Orpheum-Memphis.com/account and purchase. Or you can call (901) 525-3000. Either way, do it today to make certain you don’t miss any of these exciting shows. You are a valued member of the Orpheum family! Your commitment to the theatre, as demonstrated by being a season ticket holder, is vital to our long-term planning. I cannot thank enough for your support. I look forward to bringing this 2019-2020 Broadway season to Memphis. Here at the Orpheum, the show must (and does) go on!

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

WINSTON WOLFE Winston Wolfe is a longtime donor and former board member. We sat down to talk to him about the Orpheum Theatre Group’s legacy.

We know the historic significance of the Orpheum is very important to you. Tell us why? The interior beauty of the building inspires so much love in me for the organization. And the location – it’s close to the river, close to Beale Street – it’s just so much Memphis. I even enjoy the drive down to the Orpheum. It’s a centerpiece of the city, I think. What’s your favorite thing about a show night? One thing I always enjoy is being downstairs in the lobby at intermission, just talking to people. I love being with everyone who is there because they love the place like I do. We know you love Broadway and coming to shows, but you’re also a big supporter of our student programs. What about them resonates with you? I’m impressed by the arts education happening at the Orpheum. It inspires kids intellectually. Everything that is offered to students affects their future and that really stands out to me. It’s not just kids enjoying the show, it makes them better students and it makes them better people. You’ve been a part of the Orpheum family for many years. What keeps you engaged? It’s everything. I love the shows, the beauty of the building, the people I meet when I’m there. It really is everything. The Orpheum is in my estate plan because I love it so much and I want to support it, even after I’m gone. Thanks for talking with us and thank you for loving the Orpheum. You’re welcome! I don’t love the Orpheum because I was on the board; I was on the board because I loved the Orpheum.

The Orpheum Theatre Group relies on the generosity of our donors. For more information on how you can support, visit Orpheum-Memphis.com/Give

THEATRE ETIQUETTE As a courtesy to the performers and patrons, latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance. Turn off your cell phone and other electronic devices. The light and noise from cell phones and electronic devices are a distraction to performers and those seated around and above you. No text messaging, photography, or recording. Do not talk or whisper during the performance. Be conscientious about the noise you may be making while enjoying concessions or searching through your bag. You may be distracting or disturbing the patrons around you and the actors on stage. The Orpheum staff and our dedicated team of volunteer ushers work hard to accommodate modern crowds in our historic theatre. Please be patient as we work to serve you as best as possible. Certain productions may not be suitable for all ages. We recommend taking the time to determine which shows are appropriate for your children. Visit our website at Orpheum-Memphis.com or call our Box Office at (901) 5253000 if you have any questions. In order to ensure the safety of our guests, purses, briefcases, and bags may be inspected upon arrival. Firearms, knives, and weapons of any kind are prohibited inside the theatre. Other items not allowed inside the theatre include illegal drugs, laser pointers, fireworks, outside food and beverages, SLRs, DSLRs, video cameras, professional cameras, including external flash camera units or interchangeable/detachable lenses, and pets other than service animals. Larger items that have the potential to block walkways or disturb other patrons will need to be stored at coat check. For your convenience, we recommend refraining from bringing large bags to the theatre. Help us keep our venues secure — if you see anything suspicious, please tell an usher or other Orpheum Theatre Group representative.
