A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO Happy New Year! I do not know about you, but I cannot believe it is 2024! It seems like 2023 just arrived a month ago, but that is obviously eleven months off. I wish I could lasso time and tie it down to stop its ongoing movement. But here we are, welcoming a new year when the last one barely got started. The good thing about the passage of time, though, is that it means great Broadway shows keep arriving at the Orpheum. Like the one you are seeing today, Stephen Sondheim’s Company. This musical may not be one you are completely familiar with, but it was first produced on Broadway in 1970! It has since won three Best Musical Tony Awards (1971 – Best Musical, 2006 – Best Revival of a Musical, and 2022 – Best Revival of a Musical) and one Olivier Award (2019 – Best Revival of a Musical). During a recent visit to the Museum of Broadway in New York City, I was happy to see an entire room dedicated to Company. It received such prominence because when it was first produced, it was the first musical to tell a non-linear story devoid of fantasy and romance. Rather, it was what came to be commonly called, “a slice of life”. In other words, Company is one of those shows that changed the trajectory of Broadway musicals. The Orpheum Theatre Group is happy to bring this fine production to you this week. I hope you enjoy it! Another great thing about the passage of time is that it brings us closer to announcing our wonderful, new 2024-2025 Broadway Season! We will share the exciting date for that announcement soon. But I promise you, next season is filled with all the magic you have come to expect from the Orpheum! You will not want to miss it. Finally, this being the first full week of 2024, I wish each of you all the best in the new year. I hope it is a wonderful year, full of wonder, awe, and enlightenment! Thank you for making the Orpheum a part of it! All the best,
Brett Batterson President & CEO Orpheum Theatre Group
