Dear Friends, I remember the 1980s. For much of the Orpheum staff, the 1980s occurred before they were born. But I remember the decade quite well. I lived in Chattanooga, wooed and married my wife Veronica, worked at what was then called The Little Theatre and listened to a lot of music. Gloria Estefan was responsible for a great deal of that music. Along with the Miami Sound Machine, her Cuban rhythms, mix of languages and unbridled joy made my feet dance, however poorly, on many special occasions. Thirty-plus years later, I am pleased we can bring the story of her and her husband Emilio’s life to the Orpheum stage. This show moves along at a gallop and brings all the struggles and successes of this pioneering musical couple to life before our eyes. I know you will enjoy this performance; whether you remember the 1980s as I do, or not.

On Your Feet! is also the perfect show to share with you just before we announce our upcoming 2019-2020 Broadway Season! I cannot tell you how excited I am about next year’s schedule. It is very difficult for me to hold my excitement in until we make our grand announcement on February 25th. But hold it I must, or risk spoiling the surprise. I want to ask you to make sure to read our emails in the upcoming months. There will be many emails headed your way with instructions and important information. I would not want you to miss anything because you hit ‘delete’ too fast. Email will be the primary method of contact with you as you renew your season tickets, or purchase as a new subscriber. In closing, I have a prediction for you: By the end of this performance, you will indeed be On Your Feet! And if you are not, I am afraid I might have bad news for you – you might be dead. THEATRE ETIQUETTE As a courtesy to the performers and patrons, latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance. Turn off your cell phone and other electronic devices. The light and noise from cell phones and electronic devices are a distraction to performers and those seated around and above you. No text messaging, photography, or recording. Do not talk or whisper during the performance. Be conscientious about the noise you may be making while enjoying concessions or searching through your bag. You may be distracting or disturbing the patrons around you and the actors on stage. The Orpheum staff and our dedicated team of volunteer ushers work hard to accommodate modern crowds in our historic theatre. Please be patient as we work to serve you as best as possible. Certain productions may not be suitable for all ages. We recommend taking the time to determine which shows are appropriate for your children. In order to ensure the safety of our guests, purses, briefcases, and bags may be inspected upon arrival. Firearms, knives, and weapons of any kind are prohibited inside the theatre. Other items not allowed inside the theatre include illegal drugs, laser pointers, fireworks, outside food and beverages, SLRs, DSLRs, video cameras, professional cameras, including external flash camera units or interchangeable/detachable lenses, and pets other than service animals. Larger items that have the potential to block walkways or disturb other patrons will need to be stored at coat check. For your convenience, we recommend refraining from bringing large bags to the theatre. Help us keep our venues secure â&#x20AC;&#x201D; if you see anything suspicious, please tell an usher or other Orpheum Theatre Group representative.
