The Band's Visit

BROADWAY SEASON SPONSORED BY

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO Welcome to The Band’s Visit! This show is special to me for many reasons, not least of which is that it represents the Orpheum Theatre Group’s fourth Tony Award win for Best Musical, and the first under my leadership (the other three were during my predecessor Pat Halloran’s tenure). The Orpheum is a member of the Independent Presenter’s Network (IPN), a consortium of presenters of touring Broadway shows. Currently, IPN members present Broadway in 74 U.S. cities with a combined annual subscription base of over 573,000 patrons. In addition to presenting Broadway in all these markets to all these people, IPN is a Co-Producer of new shows on Broadway. In fact, I invite you to look for our bio in New York City Playbills the next time you visit the city. Past productions that IPN has helped bring to the stage include Spamalot, Dear Evan Hansen, and Memphis. Each IPN member gets to decide the new productions in which their theatre will participate. In 2018, I chose to put our resources into The Band’s Visit, which went on to win 10 Tony Awards. Veronica and I got to attend the Tony Awards Ceremony that June. It was exciting stuff for a boy from Iowa and a girl from Chattanooga. After the ceremony, we attended the Official Tony Post-Party at the Plaza Hotel as well as the private winner’s party sponsored by the Lead Producers of The Band’s Visit at the Bryant Park Grill. It was thrilling. Needless to say, I am very fond of this show and proud of the Orpheum Theatre Group’s fourth Tony recognition. The Band’s Visit tells a story that will touch your soul and uplift your humanity. I hope you find the show as wonderful as I do. Enjoy this special production!

Brett Batterson President & CEO Orpheum Theatre Group

GUEST ETIQUETTE

As a courtesy to the performers and patrons, latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance. No text messaging, photography, or recording. The light from your phone is a distraction to those seated around and above you. Do not talk or whisper during the performance. Be conscientious about the noise you make. You may be distracting or disturbing the patrons around you and the actors on stage. Certain productions may not be suitable for all ages. We recommend taking the time to determine which shows are appropriate for your children. Visit Orpheum-Memphis.com or call (901) 525-3000 if you have any questions.
