MARQUEE The Orpheum Theatre - Memphis

Season sponsored by:

June 14 - 19, 2016

Dear Friends, Thank you so much for attending tonight’s performance of The Wizard of Oz. I am certain you are having another wonderful evening at the Orpheum Theatre. I am glad you chose to spend your time with us. So much is happening here at the Orpheum that I am not sure where to begin! We recently announced our 2016-2017 Broadway Season and the response has been enthusiastically terrific. We have something for everyone in our upcoming season: Dirty Dancing gets us started in September, followed by Jersey Boys, Annie, The Bodyguard, Beautiful: the Carole King Musical, The Sound of Music and Rent. We have a story from almost every decade in the Twentieth Century; depression era, World War II, the rocking fifties, the 60s and 70s and the end of the century, the 1990s. If you have not subscribed yet, I urge you to do so soon. Subscribers get the best seats, the best prices and the most flexible benefits available! Our much anticipated Summer Movie Series has begun with a bang! The series spans a variety of genres. Classics like Gone with the Wind and North by Northwest. Comedies including Tootsie and When Harry Met Sally. Audience participation screenings like a sing-along Grease round out the series. These titles and more make the 2016 Orpheum Movie Series not-to-be-missed! We look forward to seeing you this summer. We just announced our first ever On Stage at the Halloran Centre Series. These shows will be presented in our new 361 seat theatre inside the beautiful Halloran Centre next door to the historic Orpheum Theatre. The series includes many of your favorite artists like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Pam Tillis, so make plans to attend these up close and personal performances starting in the fall. Our 2016 Summer Broadway Camps are also underway. We have camps for all ages and all experience levels, so please visit Orpheum-Memphis.com for more information. The gift of the arts is the greatest gift you can give your children! Make their summer memorable with one of our exciting camps. I am happy to say the Orpheum will be getting a facelift this summer. We will close the theatre for six weeks in July and early August to repair plaster, clean gold leaf and paint the auditorium. When you come back in the fall, you will be overjoyed with how your Orpheum Theatre shines again after our summer renovations. As always, I sincerely thank you for being here and for supporting the Orpheum Theatre. Your friendship and enthusiasm for the shows on our stage are what makes all of this possible!

THEATRE ETIQUETTE As a courtesy to the performers and patrons, latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance. Turn off your cell phone and other electronic devices. The light and noise from cell phones and electronic devices is a distraction to performers and those seated around and above you. No text messaging, photography, or recording. Do not talk or whisper during the performance. Also, please refrain from searching through your purse or bag or unwrapping candy. You may be making more noise than you think. The Orpheum staff and our dedicated team of volunteers work hard to accomodate modern crowds in our historic theatre. Please be patient as we work to serve you as best as possible. Certain productions may not be suitable for all ages. We recommend taking the time to determine which shows are appropriate for your children. Visit our website at www.orpheum-memphis.com or call (901) 525-3000 if you have any questions. All weapons are prohibited on Orpheum Theatre and Halloran Centre premises.
