Health / Salud St. Cloud Regional Medical Center designado como centro primario de accidentes cerebrovasculares Según la American Stroke St. Cloud, FL - El St. Cloud Regional Medical Center ha sido designado como centro de accidentes cerebrovasculares primarios por la Agencia para la Administración del Cuidado de la Salud (AHCA por sus siglas en ingles). Esta designación se basa en los estándares establecidos por AHCA que distinguen a los hospitales con infraestructura, personal y capacitación para recibir y tratar a pacientes con accidente cerebrovascular agudo.

Primary Stroke Center designation is measured on improvement performance and recognizes hospitals that meet national guidelines and manage care for quality outcomes of stroke care. St. Cloud Regional Medical Center recently contracted with Specialist on Call to provide teleneurology services, in collaboration with Active Staff physicians at the hospital, to further improve timely access to care. According to the American Stroke Association, warning signs of a stroke include: sudden

numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body; sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding; sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes; sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination; and sudden, severe headache with no known cause.

Patients are advised to go to a Primary Stroke Center first and receive stroke care when experiencing any of these warning signs.

Stroke accounts for about 1 out of every 19 deaths, ranking No. 5 among all causes of death in the United States, according to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. During his trip, Senator Scott traveled to Panama, Colombia and Argentina. Senator Scott also visited the Corozal American Cemetery to pay his respects to thousands of fallen American soldiers and laid a wreath at the National Police Academy in Bogotá in honor of the victims of the deadly terrorist attack on the Academy earlier this year.

Right now the app lets citizens report local, non-emergency issues to the County through a GPS-enabled tool using pictures. This is great for reporting issues such as potholes, roadway construction and sidewalks concerns.

The new version will allow residents to learn about pending Public Works projects, Zoning Applications, Permits, and more throughout unincorporated Osceola County. The release is expected before the first day of Hurricane Season on June 1.

UCF Graduaciones / Graduations Estudiantes de Latinx para celebrar la graduación de la UCF Orlando, FL - El martes 30 de abril, UCF organizó la tercera edición anual de Nuestra Graduación, un evento especial de celebración para la comunidad latinoamericana que se gradúa de la universidad. UCF held Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies Orlando, FL - More than 8,200 degrees were conferred at UCF’s Spring 2019 Commencement, May 2-4.

The ceremonies recognized the 50,000th degree conferred through DirectConnect, celebrated the first class of UCF’s Inclusive Education Services, and awarded a posthumous doctorate degree to two children who lost their mother just as she reached a lifelong dream to obtain her PhD.

Throughout its history, UCF has taken pride in the diversity of its student body. The University annually graduates the thirdhighest number of minorities in the nation. Nearly half of the Spring 2019 degrees will be awarded to students from minority communities, with Hispanic graduates earning more than one quarter of the degrees.

Since beginning classes in 1968, UCF has awarded approximately 335,000 degrees.

DirectConnect to UCF—which guarantees admission to UCF for students who’ve earned an associate’s degree from one of six Florida state colleges—will confer its 50,000th degree. Bank of America donates to two local nonprofit organizations Orlando, FL - For the tenth consecutive year, Bank of America donates $5,000 to a non-profit organization chosen by the Don Quijote Excellence Award winner.

The 2018 winner, Yamile Luna, vice-president of human resources at AdventHealth, chose two organizations to benefit from this contribution; Orlando Children’s Church and Hope Community Center each received a donation of $2,500 from Bank of America.

The mission of Orlando Children’s Church is reaching at-risk students through physical nourishment, spiritual renewal, and the cultivation of authentic relationships. The goal of Hope Community Center is the empowerment of Central Florida’s immigrant and working poor communities through education,

advocacy and spiritual growth. The donations were presented on April 23, Day of the Spanish Language, which is celebrated across Latin America in memory of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of the great literary work The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, for which the awards were named.

Consulado de México en Orlando Necesitamos comunidades de amor y respeto: Sister Ann Orlando, FL - La activista Sister Ann Kendrick, llamó a la comunidad a acompañar la lucha en contra de las leyes antiinmigrantes que se encuentran en discusión en el Senado de Florida, “son leyes muy malas, leyes de odio”, expresó ante líderes, autoridades y comunidad mexicana y latina.

En el marco de la inauguración de la Semana de Educación que se celebra cada año en el Consulado mexicano, con sede en la ciudad de Orlando, Sister Ann levantó la voz una vez más en contra de las leyes que discriminan a la comunidad migrante, “son personas que se creen superiores, que tratan a los demás como si valieran menos, y eso no está bien”.

Enseñó fotografías de jóvenes latinos, algunos de ellos DACA, quienes “tienen sueños y aspiraciones, tienen mucha capacidad de alcanzarlos”, pero desafortunadamente, expresó, hay quienes no los apoyan. Puso como ejemplo el caso de una consejera de educación que le dijo a una estudiante mexicana que mejor dejara la escuela, porque seguramente iba a trabajar limpiando casas o cuartos de hotel “y para eso no se necesita ni un diploma de High School”.

“Le educación libera, debemos ver por la educación de nuestras comunidades, de nuestros jóvenes, respaldar sus sueños, como dice el pedagogo Paulo Freire, la educación debe liberar, no domesticar”, sostuvo ante la atención de los presentes.

As part of the inauguration of the Educational Week that takes place every year at the Mexican Consulate in Orlando, Sister Ann raised her voice against the laws that discriminate against the migrant community, "they are people who think they are superior, who treat others as if they were worthless, and that is not right. " She showed pictures of young Latinos, some of them DACA, who "have dreams and aspirations, and a lot of capacity to reach them", but unfortunately, there are those who do not support them. She gave as an example, the case of an education counselor who told a Mexican student that she should leave school, because she was probably going to work cleaning houses or hotel rooms "and for that you don’t need a high school diploma".

for the education of our communities, of our young people, to support their dreams, as the teacher Paulo Freire says, education must liberate, not domesticate," Sister Ann said.

She called for building a community of love and respect "it is a dream, but we can achieve it", remembering that the Redlands Christian Migrant Association, an organization she leads with great success, recently awarded $55,000 in scholarships for more than 40 students.

Dando calificaciones después del Draft de la NFL Justo después de terminado el draft de la NFL, muchos equipos se preparan para el futuro con las jóvenes estrellas que han elegido. Otros, lo han arruinado y no se recuperarán pronto.

Repartamos calificaciones para algunos equipos basados en cómo les fue en el draft.

Gigantes de Nueva York: F Entre el año pasado y este, tuvieron la oportunidad de elegir como heredero de Eli Manning a alguien como Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen o Dwayne Haskins. En cambio, eligieron a Daniel Jones, quien tiene el porcentaje de pases completos más bajo de todos los QB de este año. No está mal que lo hayan elegido, lo que es malo es que lo hicieron con la sexta selección general, con jugadores como Josh Allen, Jonah Williams o Ed Oliver aún disponibles. Grading teams after the NFL Draft Right after the NFL draft is done, many teams prepare for the future with the young stars they’ve picked. Others have messed up and won’t recover soon. Let’s hand out grades for a few teams about how they fared in the draft.

New York Giants: F Between last year and this one, they had the chance to pick as Eli Manning’s heir someone like Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, or Dwayne Haskins. Arizona Cardinals: CWhen you have the #1 overall pick, you’re bound to have many deficiencies. Arizona could have taken one of the two best players available: Bosa or Williams or trade the 1st pick for several others. Instead, they decided to get

their QB of the future, Kyler Murray. There’s nothing wrong with that. Except that they already taken their QB of the future last year: Josh Rosen, with the 10th overall pick.

They turned Rosen into the 62nd overall pick, they aren’t any better than last year, and missed the chance to get out of the bottom.

Pittsburgh Steelers: B+ They desperately needed to improve the Linebacker position. And, after trading up with Denver to get Michigan’s Devin Bush, they did just that. Also, they’re known for making any Wide Receiver into superstars, so expect Diontae Johnson to appear in several fantasy teams.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: C+ They got an excellent player in LB Devin White. They loaded up on defense by picking only defensive players in their first 5 picks, and it was definitely needed. But they failed in getting another quarterback (or trading for one), and it looks like they’ll give Jameis Winston yet another shot (which I think will cost them).

San Francisco 49ers: AA team that will improve greatly this year. They added the best player in the draft, period: Nick Bosa. They also added weapons for Jimmy Garoppolo: Receivers Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd, and Tight End Kaden Smith. With the draft and free agency, San Francisco is loaded up.
