Presidente Biden firma orden ejecutiva ordenando uso de mascarillas en los medios de transporte El presidente Joe Biden firmó una orden ejecutiva que exige el uso de mascarillas en los medios de transporte nacionales e internacionales.

La medida apoya las directrices establecidas por los Centros de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades y las recomendaciones del Cirujano General y los Institutos Nacionales de Salud.

La medida se basa en una orden firmada por el presidente poco después de su toma de posesión que exige el uso de mascarillas en todas las instalaciones federales.

Aunque existen requisitos para el uso de mascarillas en varios medios de movilidad, incluido el transporte público, su cumplimiento no siempre ha sido fácil, ya que los estados y los gobiernos locales controlan estos requisitos dentro de las comunidades. Biden extends Europe, Brazil travel restrictions, adds South Africa

President Joe Biden signed an executive order requiring the wearing of face masks on domestic and international modes of travel.

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden signed an order on Monday, January 25th barring most non-U.S. citizens who have recently been in South Africa from entering the United States, effective Saturday, January 30th.

The action supports guidelines in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and recommendations by the Surgeon General and the National Institutes of Health.

The action builds on an order the president signed shortly after his inauguration requiring masks to be worn on all federal property.

While mask-wearing requirements exist on various mobility modes, including public transportation, enforcement has not always been easy as states and local governments control these requirements within communities. To encourage mask wearing, transit agencies have installed free mask dispensers onboard vehicles; installed PPE vending machines in stations; handed out masks to riders; and on Metropolitan Transportation Authority, implemented fines for those riders not in compliance with an existing statewide mandate.

The executive order says “the COVID-19 Response Coordinator, in coordination with the Secretary of Transportation and the heads of any other relevant agencies, shall promptly identify and inform agencies of options to incentivize, support and encourage widespread mask-wearing and physical distancing on public modes of transportation, consistent with CDC guidelines and applicable law.”

In response to the executive order, Transport Workers Union (TWU) President John Samuelsen, called the action “a long overdue measure to protect workers” and saying it was “about damn time our government lived up to its obligations to public health.”

Samuelsen noted “masks save lives” and referenced the more than 10 percent of TWU members who have died, tested positive for or quarantined after exposure to COVID-19.

Biden’s order also reimposes an entry ban, set to expired on Tuesday, January 26th on nearly all non-U.S. travelers who had been in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland and 26 countries in Europe that allow travel across open borders.

Some health officials are concerned current vaccines may not be effective against the South Africa COVID-19 variant, which also raises the prospect of re-infection.

South Africa’s 501Y.V2 variant is 50% more infectious than the regular strain and has been detected in at least 20 countries.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director (CDC) head Rochelle Walensky is now expected to sign a separate order requiring masks on all airplanes and public transportation for all travelers aged 2 and older.

The Transportation Security Administration is expected to issue a separate security directive related to masks, people briefed on the matter said.

On Tuesday, January 26th new CDC rules take effect requiring all international air travelers aged 2 and older to present a negative coronavirus test taken within three calendar days of travel or proof of recovery from COVID-19 to enter the United States.

Starting February 15th, Americans without health insurance can go to Healthcare.gov and sign up for health coverage, often at little or no cost.

Orange County Leaders Reveal 1995 Time Capsule

The capsule, which looks like a 4-foot-long aluminum alloy torpedo, was ceremoniously opened at the Orange County Courthouse on February 2, 2021, revealing the predictions, as well as newspapers, calendars, scrapbooks and photographs taken by dozens of citizens and civic leaders documenting a “Day in the Life” of Orange County. The ceremony was broadcast on Orange TV as well.

Orange County invited Joanne Nydegger, a local resident, to the event, and she was one of many in attedance. She was the 2nd place winner in the Realistic category of the 2020 prediction contest sponsored by the Orlando Sentinel in 1995.

Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, who has lived in Orange County his entire life, has always found that time capsules provide a glimpse of the past and hope for the future. “During the pandemic, hope for the future is what our community needs and reminds us how we’ll share our time in history with future generations,” he said.

Some of the predictions landed fairly spot on. Albuquerque watched in his mirrors and heard his team’s reaction over the radio Sunday when Renger van der Zande was forced to pit with a flat right rear tire with 7 minutes, 50 seconds left in the race, allowing Albuquerque to sail to victory in the 59th Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Osceola County, FL – On January 26th the sheriff’s office received information from school officials at Liberty High School about a video posted on social media depicting one of our School Resource Officers in a confrontation with a student.

The incident appeared to take place between classes in the hallway. In the video, it shows the deputy taking the student to the ground and placing handcuffs on her.

Our office is in the initial stages of our investigation. We are collecting video, witness statements, and relevant information related to the incident. We know that the School Resource Officer was in the process of trying to stop the student from fighting another student in the hallway when the deputy took her into custody.

Once we receive more information related to the incident, we will provide an updated press release.

Now she’s a sophomore at Gateway High school and has not only been a starter on the varsity team both years, she also had the most points as a freshman, and earned the All County First Team Orange Belt Conference Award. In just 2 short seasons Vanessa achieved the incredible goal of reaching her 1000 career points in the season. She is a hard worker, determined, goal driven, and her passion is to make the people around her feel loved and wanted.

She plans on going further with her career and bringing new fans to the woman’s basketball sport.

Another massively successful event, the collection auction saw all 200 vehicles and all Road Art and memorabilia offered hammer sold for total overall sales of $18.4 million. Topselling cars included a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Resto Mod (Lot B40) that sold for $368,500; a 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro (Lot A12) that sold for $297,000; and a 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible Resto Mod (Lot A54) that brought $253,000.
