Planed Schedule to Orlando (North)

SunRail anuncia nuevo horario para la expansión del sur que el viaje diario sea rápido, fácil y Condados Osceola y Orange, FL - SunRail anuncia un nuevo cronograma para su próxima expansión hacia el sur. La expansión agrega cuatro estaciones nuevas; Meadow Woods en el condado Orange, así como estaciones en Tupperware/Walmart, el centro de Kissimmee y Poinciana en el condado Osceola. Dos puntos de referencia principales están ocurriendo durante las próximas semanas. El lunes 30 de julio, el servicio se expande a las cuatro estaciones nuevas que cubren 17 millas adicionales. El lunes 23 de julio, la semana antes de que comience el nuevo servicio, los trenes SunRail comienzan a ejecutar un nuevo cronograma en las 32 millas existentes, como una vista previa de lo que vendrá en la expansión del sur. SunRail announcing new schedule for Southern expansion Osceola and Orange Counties, FL - SunRail is announcing a new schedule for its upcoming southern expansion. The expansion adds four new stations; Meadow Woods in Orange County as well as stations at Tupperware/ Walmart, downtown Kissimmee and Poinciana in Osceola County. Two major benchmarks are occurring during the next few weeks. On Monday, July 30, service expands to the four new stations covering 17 additional miles. On Monday, July 23, the week before the new service begins, SunRail trains start running a new schedule on the existing 32 miles, as a preview of what’s to come in the southern expansion. Trains are also running the additional 17 miles during that week, but no passengers are going to be on board during that portion of the route. The new schedule features more mid-day time slots, as well as running later at night.

Service is increasing from the current 18 round trips per day, to 20 round trips per day. SunRail is moving people throughout the region by providing work and leisure opportunities; connecting communities. SunRail can make

the daily commute fast, easy and affordable, as well as less stressful.

SunRail currently runs 32-mile daily service, stopping at 12 stations, Monday through Friday, from the DeBary Station in Volusia County to the Sand Lake Road Station south of Orlando.

Also, SunRail is offering a “First 50 Free” promotion to riders whose trip originates at any of the four new southern stations starting Monday, July 30, and running through Friday, August 17. The promotion is easy. Simply check-in at the designated “First 50 Free” promotional gate at either the Poinciana, Kissimmee, Tupperware or Meadow Woods stations, and if you’re one of the first 50 riders for each train, your roundtrip is free. La Junta de KUA adopta un presupuesto de $255 millones Kissimmee, FL - La junta directiva de Kissimmee Utility Authority aprobó un presupuesto operativo y de capital de $255 millones para el año fiscal 2019. La votación se produjo después de un taller y una audiencia pública sobre el presupuesto.

El presupuesto aprobado es una disminución del seis por ciento con respecto al presupuesto 2018. La disminución está relacionada con las proyecciones en los costos de combustible y energía comprada, principalmente impulsados por los precios más bajos del gas natural y una reducción en los gastos de capital. El presupuesto también marca el 14° año consecutivo de la empresa sin un aumento de la tarifa base. El último aumento de la tarifa base de la empresa fue en julio de 2005.

KUA Board adopts $255 million budget Kissimmee, FL - The Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors approved a $255 million operating and capital budget for fiscal year 2019. The vote came after a workshop and public hearing on the budget.

The approved budget is a six percent decrease from the 2018 budget. The decrease is related to projections in fuel and purchased power costs, primarily driven by lower natural gas prices and a reduction in capital expenditures. The budget also marks the utility’s 14th consecutive year without a base rate increase. The utility’s last base rate increase was in July 2005.

The budget authorizes 289 full-time equivalent positions, an increase of one position from the current budget and reflects a four percent

market level adjustment for employees.

Other highlights of the FY 2019 budget include: • $125.4 million for fuel and purchased power • $30.8 million for capital expenditures, the majority of which is related to growth and improvement of the utility’s transmission and distribution system • $29.6 million for transfers to the City of Kissimmee and Osceola County for electric sales and taxes • Total employee base of 289 with an associated payroll of $36 million • Expected customer growth of 2.0 percent • Forecasted energy sales increase of 1.4 percent The new budget takes effect Oct. 1, 2018.

Consulado de Mexico - 3ra Muestra de Tequila 3ª Muestra del Tequila en Orlando Orlando, FL – El viernes, 13 de julio en el Consulado de Mexico en Orlando se llevó a cabo con gran éxito la 3ª Muestra del Tequila en Orlando, con la destacada participación de ocho empresarios tequileros mexicanos, quienes por primera vez realizaron una misión comercial por la Florida Central.

Esa noche deleitaron a la comunidad americana e hispana con lo mejor de sus productos, en sabor y calidad. Luego de entregar los reconocimientos a los empresarios tequileros, el Cónsul de México en Orlando, Juan Sabines, dio la bienvenida a todos los participantes e invitados especiales.

Resaltó que cada año, en la Muestra del Tequila, se reconoce a personas e instituciones que son aliados de México, así en 2016 se dedicó al Puerto de Tampa, en 2017 al Sheriff Jerry Demings “y este año 2018, reconocemos a la conectividad con México: al Aeropuerto Internacional de Orlando MCO por su respaldo al turismo con nuestro país”.

Junto a las tequileras mexicanas, que brindaron una gran atención a los asistentes, el Restaurante Mesa 21 sirvió bocadillos mexicanos y el Restaurante Frontera sus famosas margaritas con limón y licor de cis.

Además de la presencia de comunidad de Estados Unidos y de México, asistieron personas de Puerto Rico, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, República Dominicana, Ecuador, Perú, Honduras, Guatemala, Uruguay, entre otros, que disfrutaron además de la tradicional música del mariachi, que tocó, entre otras piezas “Guadalajara”.

Isabel Preciado, integrante de la Cámara Mexicana del Tequila, expresó que por tercer año consecutivo participan en esta Muestra, para abrir mayor mercado para el tequila. “Siempre hemos encontrado apertura y nuevas oportunidades”.

3rd Annual Tequila Tasting in Orlando Orlando, FL - On Friday, July 13, at the Consulate of Mexico in Orlando, the 3rd Annual Tequila Tasting in Orlando was held with great success, with the participation of eight Mexican tequila entrepreneurs, who for the first time carried out a commercial mission for Central Florida. Consulado de Mexico - Semana Binacional de Educación 1ª Semana Binacional de Educación en estudiantes mexicanos en la institución Orlando Orlando, FL - Con la participación de 23 organizaciones e instituciones educativas de Florida, dio inicio la 1ª Semana Binacional de Educación “Educar para Vivir Mejor”, que se llevó a cabo en el Consulado de México en Orlando del 16 al 20 de julio de 2018, con el objetivo de acercar servicios y asesorías gratuitas o a bajo costo a la comunidad mexicana e hispana en esta circunscripción. El Cónsul de México en Orlando, Juan Sabines, dijo que esta es una iniciativa del Canciller Luis Videgaray, que está dedicada especialmente a los dreamers. Resaltó que en esta Semana se realizará la certificación SIEL del idioma español.

El SIELE es el Examen del Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española, certificado que acredita el dominio del idioma en español a extranjeros o a personas con una diferente lengua materna.

Por su parte la Dra. Kathleen Plinske, presidenta de los campus Lake Nona y Ponciana del Valencia Collegue Osceola’s, informó que gracias al programa IME Becas, se han entregado más de 100 mil dólares para apoyar a

Méndez: 2,000 dólares, Hillsborough Community College: 11, 000 dólares, St Petersburg College: 12,000 dólares, Putman County Migrant Education Program: 8,500 dólares.

Posteriormente, los participantes recibieron un reconocimiento por su destacada participación en esta actividad por parte del Consulado de México en Orlando.

City Of Kissimmee El veterano Donald Smith recibe la llave de la ciudad Kissimmee, FL - El martes 17 de julio, la comisionada de la ciudad de Kissimmee, Wanda Rentas, junto al alcalde José Álvarez y los comisionados Angela Eddy y Jim Fisher, reconocieron a Donald Ray Smith, un veterano de guerra y combate de 30 años de Vietnam que ha dedicado su vida a servir y ayudar a otros y continúa sirviendo defendiendo y apoyando a los hombres y mujeres de las fuerzas armadas y la familia de los asesinados en combate. El señor Smith ha sido fundamental para el Museo de Historia Militar de Osceola desde su apertura

en su ubicación actual en 2012. Como Director del Consejo y Museo de Veteranos de Osceola, con frecuencia ha ido más allá para asegurar la presencia de veteranos y guardias de honor en muchos eventos y ceremonias de la comunidad.

La Comisionada Rentas tuvo el honor de darle a Donald Smith la llave de la Ciudad y dijo que las acciones y el apoyo del señor Smith hacia los veteranos y aquellos en servicio han tocado su corazón como ningún otro veterano.

Veteran Donald Smith receives the key to the City Kissimmee, FL - On Tuesday, July 17, City of Kissimmee Commissioner Wanda Rentas, joined by Mayor José Alvarez and Commissioners Angela Eddy and Jim Fisher, recognized Donald Ray Smith, a 30 year Navy and combat veteran of Vietnam who has dedicated his live to serving and helping others and continues to serve by advocating and supporting the men and women of the arm forces and the family of those killed in theater. Mr. Smith has been instrumental to the Osceola Museum of Military History since

its opening at its current location in 2012. As Director of Osceola Veterans Council and Museum, he has also frequently gone above and beyond to ensure the presence of veterans and honor guard at many community events and ceremonies.

Commissioner Rentas had the honor of giving Donald Smith the Key to the City and said that Mr. Smith’s actions and support towards the veterans and those in service have touched her heart like no other veteran.

Reconocimiento a ciudadanos durante la Conferencia Comunitaria del Condado Orange 2018 Orange County, FL - La alcaldesa del Condado Orange Teresa Jacobs y la Junta de Comisionados del Condado recientemente reconocieron a varios Campeones Comunitarios y al Ciudadano Distinguido del Año durante la Conferencia Comunitaria Anual.

La conferencia anual, presentada por la División de Preservación y Revitalización de Vecindarios del Condado Orange, se esfuerza por educar y ayudar a los residentes en cómo revitalizar sus vecindarios y hacerlos los mejores lugares para vivir. Ciudadanos, líderes comunitarios, dirigentes de las asociaciones de propietarios y organizaciones sin fines de lucro se dieron cita durante este evento para compartir ideas sobre las mejoras que pueden realizarse en su condado. El Premio de la Alcaldesa al Ciudadano Distinguido del Año fue presentado al coronel Edwin R. Marrero, quien ha sido un residente de Orlando desde agosto de 1987.

Comenzó su servicio militar en mayo de 1971 como soldado en la 3ra División de Infantería en Alemania. Después del servicio activo, se unió a la Compañía E (Airborne Ranger) de la Guardia Nacional del Ejército en Puerto Rico, Regimiento 65 de Infantería.

Asistió a la Escuela de Candidatos a Oficial en la Guardia Nacional

de Puerto Rico donde recibió una comisión como Segundo teniente en 1979. Marrero obtuvo un grado universitario en Administración de Empresas de la Universidad Central de Bayamón, Bayamón, Puerto Rico; y una Maestría en Ciencias con concentración en Estudios Estratégicos del Army War College. El Ciudadano Distinguido del Año de la alcaldesa fue nombrado Oficial de Operaciones de Personal y Entrenamiento para el Comando de Sostenimiento 143 (Expedicionario) de la Reserva del Ejército de los Estados Unidos en Orlando, Florida. Trabajó con el Jefe de Personal Asociado y la G3 para coordinar y sincronizar los esfuerzos de cooperación y programas de administración de entrenamiento para operaciones militares multifuncionales para 112 unidades USAR en diez estados con más de 12,000 soldados.

Local residents honored at 2018 Orange County Community Conference Orange County, FL Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) recognized several Community Champions and the Distinguished Citizen of the Year at the 2018 Community Conference held on July 14 at the Renaissance Senior Center.

For 23 years, the conference has been recognizing outstanding residents and their contributions in Orange County.

Col. Edwin R. Marrero was awarded Mayor Jacobs’ 2018 Distinguished Citizen of the Year. Marrero has lived in Orange County for more than 30 years and has served as the chair of Mayor Jacobs’ Veterans Advisory Council since 2013.

Through his dedicated work within the community, he has increased membership to the council and has worked with local organizations to ensure local veterans have better access to vital services and resources. He has previously served on the County’s School Advisory Council and the City of Orlando’s Veterans Advisory Council.

Col. Marrero is also a member of Fairways for Warriors, a nonprofit organization that provides hope, healing and camaraderie for combat wounded veterans and their families.

Additionally, each member of the Orange County BCC recognized a citizen in their district as Citizen of the Year: District 1 – Cynthia Dailey District 2 – Monique Raquel Morris District 3 – Bethanne Baer District 4 – Mark Gonzalez District 5 – Pastor Charles H. Baxter District 6 – Demetrius Summerville The 2018 Community Conference is hosted by Orange County’s Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Office and brings together hundreds of citizens, community leaders, homeowner’s association and nonprofit organizations to share ideas on improving their community.

The Best and Worst of Russia 2018

Lo mejor y lo peor de Rusia 2018 Orlando, FL - Uno de los mejores mundiales de la historia ha llegado a su fin (tristemente). Rusia 2018 no fue la Copa del Mundo con más calidad, o con las actuaciones individuales más sobresalientes, pero sí fue un torneo reñido, emocionante, con goles en casi todos los partidos (63 de 64), finales que nos dejaron al filo del asiento, hazañas épicas (como las victorias de México y Corea del Sur a Alemania), y a un gran campeón, Francia, que ganó 6 de 7 partidos y levantó la Copa sin despeinarse demasiado. Ahora que todo vuelve a la normalidad, recordemos lo más destacado del evento deportivo más importante del mundo, y que no volveremos a disfrutar hasta noviembre de 2022.

Mejor Equipo: Francia; sin demasiado brillo, pero Francia terminó invicto el campeonato (único equipo que puede decir eso), y dejando en el camino a Argentina, Uruguay, Bélgica y Croacia. El enorme talento de Les Bleus los llevó a pasar encima de todos sus rivales sin necesidad de tiempos extras: Mbappé, Griezmann, Pogba, Kante, Matuidi, Umtiti, Varane… todos jóvenes, todos campeones del mundo. Menciones especiales: Bélgica, Croacia, Uruguay.

Mejor Jugador: Luka Modric; el croata sufrió la maldición del Balón de Oro mundialista, que desde 1994 no gana el mundial, y casi todos han perdido la final (Ronaldo en 98, Kahn 2002, Zidane 2006, Messi 2014). Sin embargo, los pulmones ilimitados y el talento exorbitante del #10 croata impulsó a un país con solo 4 millones de habitantes a su primera final, y pese a perderla, fueron recibidos como héroes en el país balcánico.

Menciones especiales: Mbappé, Hazard, Courtois.

Mejor Partido: Bélgica 2-1 Brasil; El partido en el que los diablos rojos se hicieron grandes.

Bélgica sorprendió a la gran favorita, que dejó todo en el campo y estuvo muy cerca de empatarlo. Fue un partido muy intenso de principio a fin, con enormes actuaciones por parte de Hazard, De Bruyne y Courtois. Menciones especiales: España 3-3 Portugal, Croacia 2-2 Rusia, Francia 4-3 Argentina.

Mejor Gol: Dries Mertens Bélgica vs Panamá; el delantero del Napoli nos regaló una joya de volea dentro del área, para vencer a Penedo, arquero canalero. Abrió el marcador para Bélgica, y fue el primer gol recibido por Panamá en un mundial. Menciones especiales: Pavard - Francia vs Argentina, Coutinho - Brasil vs Suiza, Kroos Alemania vs Suecia.

Equipo Decepción: Alemania; simple y sencillamente, el peor fracaso en la historia para Die Mannschaft. Su peor participación había sido en 1938, en el 10º lugar.

Orlando, FL - One of the best World Cups in history has come to an end (sadly). Russia 2018 was not the World Cup with more quality, or with the most outstanding individual performances, but it was a close, exciting tournament, with goals in almost every game (63 of 64), finals that left us on the edge of the seat, epic feats (like the victories of Mexico and South Korea to Germany), and a great champion, France, who won 6 of 7 games and lifted the Cup without getting too messy.

Now that everything is back to normal, let's remember the highlights of the most important sporting event in the world, and we will not enjoy it again until November 2022.

Best Team: France; Not too bright, but France finished the championship undefeated (only team that can say that), and leaving on the road to Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium and Croatia.

The enormous talent of Les Bleus led them to pass over all their rivals without needing extra time: Mbappé, Griezmann, Pogba, Kante, Matuidi, Umtiti, Varane, all young, all world champions. Special mentions: Belgium, Croatia, Uruguay.

Osceola County Sheriff News Fuel and credit card fraud arrests

Arrestos por fraude con tarjetas de crédito y combustible Condado Osceola, FL- Desde noviembre de 2017, miembros del Equipo de Respuesta de Acción Directa de la oficina del alguacil del Condado Osceola comenzaron a investigar casos relacionados con el transporte ilegal de combustible, robo de identidad y tráfico de tarjetas de crédito robadas.

En estos casos, los sospechosos usan tradicionalmente información de tarjetas de crédito y personal que ha sido obtenida en las gasolineras y en los cajeros automáticos y recodificada en tarjetas de regalo y tarjetas de crédito en blanco para comprar grandes cantidades de combustible Diesel. El combustible Diesel se transporta en contenedores ubicados dentro de los vehículos.

Los contenedores generalmente son peligrosos, caseros, no aprobados y no están diseñados para transportar combustible de ningún tipo. El combustible se vende luego en el mercado negro a un precio rebajado.

Desde el comienzo de esta investigación en curso, los miembros del Equipo de Respuesta de Acción Directa con la asistencia de varias otras unidades dentro de la Oficina del Alguacil han localizado 17 vehículos que transportan ilegalmente combustible y han arrestado a 23 personas. Los cargos van desde fraude, tráfico / posesión de más de 50 tarjetas falsificadas, robo, a sabiendas con Intención Ilegal posesión de 5 o más Ítems de Información de Identificación Personal, uso o posesión de Información de Identificación de otro sin consentimiento, obtención de combustible por fraude y el transporte ilícito de combustible.

In these cases, suspects traditionally use credit card and personal information that has been “skimmed” at gas station pumps and ATM’s and re-encoded on blank gift cards and credit cards to purchase large amounts of diesel fuel. The diesel fuel is then transported in containers located inside vehicles. The containers are generally dangerous, homemade, unapproved, and not designed to transport fuel of any kind. The fuel

is later sold on the black market at a discounted rate.

Since the beginning of this ongoing investigation, members of the DirectAction Response Team with the assistance of various other units within the Sheriff’s Office, have located 17 vehicles illegally transporting fuel and have arrested 23 individuals.

The charges range from Schemes to Defraud, Trafficking/Possession of more than 50 Counterfeit Credit Cards, Grand Theft, knowingly with Unlawful Intent Possessing 5 or more Items of Personal Identification Information, Use or Possession of Identification Information of Another without Consent, Obtaining Fuel by Fraud, and the Unlawful Conveyance of Fuel.

During this investigation, the credit card information of 382 victims were in

the hands of suspects purchasing and transporting illegal fuel.

The victims include hundreds of people from around the country, dozens of citizens of Osceola County. Currently, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is working with the United States Secret Service and the Florida Department of Agriculture to combat this crime, and as of now, more than half of the suspects charged in these crimes have been Federally Indicted.

Hosted by Venezuelan sports commentator Erasmo Provenza, the familyfriendly program will seek to find the athlete with the strongest physical and mental abilities through a series of obstacle races, extreme
