Alcalde de Orlando Buddy Dyer lanza Programa de Compartir Bicicletas en el Centro de Orlando Orlando, FL - El viernes, 9 de enero el Alcalde de Orlando Buddy Dyer se unió con Comisionados de la Ciudad; Patrocinadores del Programa, OUC y el Hospital de la Florida; y Cyclehop para celebrar el lanzamiento del programa Orlando Bike Share. Después de la ceremonia de inauguración, el Alcalde Dyer fue la primera persona en alquilar una bicicleta y dar un paseo en el centro de Orlando. El nuevo programa de Compartir Bicicletas del Centro de Orlando aumentará la movilidad en el núcleo urbano, y conectará con el tránsito existente, como LYMMO y SunRail y ofrece otra opción de transporte accesible. La primera fase de las Bicicletas Compartidas incluye 20
bicicletas en cuatro lugares diferentes, OUC Reliable Plaza, Skyhouse, Paseo de Gertrude y Lake Eola Park. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer launches Bike Share Program in Downtown Orlando Orlando, FL - On Friday, January 9, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer joined City Commissioners; Program Sponsors, OUC and Florida Hospital; and Cyclehop to celebrate the launch of the Orlando Bike Share program. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, Mayor Dyer was the first person to rent a bike and take a ride in Downtown Orlando. Downtown Orlando’s new Bike Share program will increase mobility in the urban core, connect to existing transit such as LYMMO and SunRail and provide another affordable transportation option. The first phase of Bike Share includes 20 bicycles at four different locations, OUC Reliable Plaza,
Skyhouse, Gertrude’s Walk and Lake Eola Park. An additional 16 stations are planned for the second phase, which will provide 180 more bicycles by the spring of 2015 for a total of 200 bicycles at 20 stations throughout Downtown Orlando. The bicycles can be picked up and dropped off at different stations or anywhere in Downtown through the use of GPS technology. Additionally this bike share system will allow users, through the free Social Bicycles app, to see where bicycles are located, place a bicycle on hold and rent the bicycle.

Osceola County News Condado Osceola pide a Colt's que cumpla con los términos de su acuerdo Condado Osceola, FL– El Condado Osceola está pidiendo a Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC cumplir con su contrato de arrendamiento de un edificio de 16,000 pies cuadrados de construcción que se supone sirva como sede regional de la empresa. A letter to the company seeks payment of rent and proof of insurance. It also notes that Colt has failed to complete all improvements described in the lease and has failed to operate the facility as defined in the lease. After reviewing the agreement, failure to comply could lead to termination of the agreement, officials said. “More than three years ago, Osceola County made a considerable investment in order to bring Colt to Florida,” said County Commissioner Fred Hawkins, Jr. “It’s not fair to our citizens to let a prize asset sit empty. Especially when the economic climate is improving and we are confident we can find partners who will create good-paying jobs at this facility.” The county spent about $500,000 to upgrade the building in order to get the iconic Connecticut gun maker to set up shop here. As part of a 2012
agreement Colt received $250,000 from the state, which was used by the county for improvements to its building. As part of its agreement with the state, Colt was to invest another $2.5 million in the building and create 63 jobs by the end of 2015. However, the company has already missed a pair of the state’s annual benchmarks to create 20 fulltime positions. The lack of progress led to examination of the county’s agreement in hopes of sparking compliance or regaining control of the building. Failure to create all 63 jobs by the end of the year would be another violation of the company’s agreement that could lead to termination of the agreement. “We have been very patient and have worked tirelessly with Colt to bring their regional headquarters here,” said Commissioner Viviana Janer. “It’s unfortunate they haven’t been able to meet their commitments. At the very least Colt needs to comply with its contract and if that is not the case, we need to take the appropriate action to move forward and create the jobs our community needs.”

In his opening statement, Cortés declared “This is not my office. This is the office of all residents of Central Florida, and in particular the residents of the state legislative District 43.” Cortés said that people of all political affiliations are welcome, and his main goal is to serve the community, and concentrate his efforts to make Florida the best place to live in the nation,

Cortés became well known in the community after several attempts to be elected to governmental positions. This time, he said he was successful because he changed the tactic, walking through the whole district, listening to people's concerns. Día de Reyes en Osceola 2015 THREE KINGS DAY >>> Viene de Portada Cientos de familias se tomaron fotos con los Tres Reyes Magos representados por oficiales electos y líderes comunitarios, mientras otros estaban atentos al sorteo de más de 150 bicicletas, un promedio de una bicicleta cada dos minutos. Miles de niños recibieron juguetes gratis, disfrutaron de “hot dogs” gratuitos, Gatorade y entretenimiento que incluyó un área de inflables cortesía de KUA y de la visita de diferentes personalidades en tarima como la presentación de Zumba con Ismael Aponte, los actos de magia del payaso Ravelli, la banda Son 4, entre otros. La animación estuvo a cargo de Paula Machado, reportera de Infomas. cada niño asistente mientras le entregaban juguetes y/o bicicletas como parte de la celebración del Día de Reyes. El Departamento de Policía de Kissimmee regalo un casco protector a cada uno de los niños ganadores de las bicicletas. Ellos junto con el Departamento del Sheriff del Condado Osceola ejercieron un papel muy importante para que el evento se desarrollara de forma tranquila y segura. Muchas culturas de todas partes del mundo celebran el Día de Reyes, para conmemorar el día en que los 3 Reyes Magos siguieron la estrella de Belén para llevar sus regalos de Oro, Incienso y Mirra hasta el pesebre donde había nacido el niño Jesús. En el Condado Osceola, el Concilio Hispano de Negocios adoptó esta tradición para traerles mucha alegría a los habitantes más pequeños del Condado Osceola y de la Florida Central.

happily shared their time to make the kids smile while handing them bikes and toys.
Hundred of children and families took their picture with the 3 Kings, represented by local elected officials and community leaders, while others were waiting to win one of more than 150 bicycles, an average of one bicycle every two minutes.
The Kissimmee Police Department gave a free helmet to every child who won a bike and along with the Osceola County Sheriff Department both were of a great value by helping the event to go smoothly and safely.
Thousands of kids received free toys, enjoyed free hot dogs, free Gatorade and entertainment that included the KUA Kids Fun Zone, Zumba by Ismael Aponte, the Magician Clown Ravelli, and the music of “Son 4”. Paula Machado, reporter from Infomas was the host of the event.
Many cultures throughout the world celebrate the 3 Kings Day, remembering the day when the 3 Wise Men followed the star of Bethlehem to give their treasured gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus. In Osceola County, the Hispanic Business Council decided to adopt this practice to bring a little bit of joy to all the kids in Osceola and Central Florida.

Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Hombre se declara culpable en caso de asesinato del 2009 asesinato y fue trasladado a la Cárcel Kissimmee, FL - El 12 de enero de 2015, Jonathan Alicea se declaró culpable de asesinato en segundo grado por matar a Jariel Alexander, de 2 años de edad, en octubre del 2009. Alicea fue condenado a 30 años de prisión. El 11 de octubre de 2009, aproximadamente a las 7:15 p.m., oficiales de policía de Kissimmee respondieron al Osceola Regional Medical Center, en referencia a un posible abuso infantil. A su llegada los oficiales fueron notificados de que la condición del niño era crítica y fue trasladado al Hospital Arnold Palmer en Orlando. Los detectives hablaron con el cuidador del niño en el momento de los hechos, Jonathan Alicea, de 19 años de edad. Man Pleads Guilty to 2009 Murder Case
On October 11, 2009 at approximately 7:15 p.m. Kissimmee police officers responded to Osceola Regional Medical Center in reference to a possible child abuse. Upon arrival officers learned the child’s condition was critical and he was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando. Detectives talked with the child’s caretaker at the time of the incident, 19-year-old Jonathan Alicea. Alicea was cooperative with Detectives and explained that the child would not eat and soiled his pants. This angered Alicea who proceeded to severely injure the child. Alicea was arrested and charged with one count of Attempted Felony
Jonathan Alicea Murder and was transported to the Osceola County Jail. The two-year-old child was declared dead at Arnold Palmer Hospital. The charges against Jonathan Alicea were upgraded to First Degree Murder. Alicea reported pushing the child’s head with his left hand which caused the child to lose consciousness immediately and he appeared to not be breathing. Alicea reported he attempted CPR with no results. Alicea boiled a pot of water and then poured it on the child stating he believed it would revive him. At that point the child’s mother returned home and they took the child to the hospital. There were no charges against Jariel’s mother, 22-year-old Silkia Mateo.

The fast paced game is working for Orlando By Amanda Ludick Orlando, FL - The Orlando Magic finished their road trip with their best win of the season, in my opinion. This past Monday, in Chicago, the Orlando Magic was lead to victory by Victor Oladipo and Nik Vucevic. The pair combined for 66 of Orlando’s 121 points. The Magic were playing without Evan Fournier, out with a sprained right knee, and Tobias Harris, with a sprained left ankle. Both players had been key wing players throughout the season. The Magic looked much different through the duration of this game. They came out with energy looking to control the tempo of the game and it worked. Vucevic was off to a great start finishing the first quarter with 12 points and 5 rebounds. The Magic had an eight point lead going into the second quarter. Chicago was looking to make a comeback and took advantage of a sloppy stretch by Orlando but the Magic’s nine to four run just before halftime kept them in lead.

The Magic were home to face Dwight Howard and the Rockets. The Magic played with the same changes they did in Chicago. The fast – paced play is what Victor Oladipo needs. His playing style is quick and explosive at its best. Both Oladipo and Vucevic would lead their team to victory once again. Oladipo got fancy on a breakaway when he completed the 360 dunk. He finished with 32 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Vucevic had 25 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Other Magic starters, Channing Frye and Elfrid Payton, both finished with double digits points. Frye had 15 points from 5 3-point shots, Payton also had 15 points. Tonight, the Magic will host the Memphis Grizzlies and on Sunday, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both teams are powerhouse teams out west. Their difficult schedule continues when the face the new Detroit Pistons and the New York Knicks before taking to the road again. The fast paced game is working for Orlando and was a change they desperately needed. There is only one month till we see the trade deadline. Still no word on any moves the Magic might be making and at this point, I’m not sure I expect to see any.
