March for Meals Campaña Osceola Meals on Wheels - March For Meals de Meals on Wheels y del Osceola Condado Osceola, FL - El programa Osceola Meals on Wheels administrado por el Osceola Council on Aging participó en la campaña nacional 2015 de March for Meals. Section of East Columbia Avenue will be closed to through traffic beginning March 25 Kissimmee, FL - Toho Water Authority (Toho) is announcing the closure to through traffic along E. Columbia Avenue from Palmway Street up to Smith Street and Smith Street to Howard Terrace beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2015. (See attached map). The road closure is necessary to allow Toho’s contractor, Prime Construction Group, Inc. to replace an existing gravity wastewater main.

The replacement project is projected to be complete by May 25, 2015.

Schedules could vary according to weather and other unforeseen issues.

Signage will be placed as needed to keep the traveling public informed of the project. During this replacement project the street will be closed to through traffic and with prior notification there may be instances where driveways are inaccessible for short periods of time.

Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching these areas, as workers will be present and speed limits may be reduced in certain areas.

Temporary Inconveniences: Noise and vibrations; Barricades and fencing for safety; and Trucks, machinery and equipment.

Student Government Association Students Travel to Tallahassee Osceola County, FL - Last week, four District Student Government Association students from St. Cloud High School, Poinciana High, and the Osceola School for the Arts traveled to Tallahassee to see politics in action. Students attended the League of Women's Voters Capitol Impact Day events and visited with many state legislators. They also had the opportunity to visit with Representative John Cortes on Wednesday. Gloria Niec and The Celebration Foundation sponsored the trip.

RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo Vaqueros llevaron ganado hasta el Silver Spurs Arena para comenzar el Rodeo Condado Osceola, Fl - Abrir las Finales del Rodeo Del Circuito Nacional RAM con una corrida de ganado es una manera de celebrar el ser anfitrión del evento por los próximos 10 años y una manera de rendir homenaje al patrimonio ganadero de Osceola.

Washington, DC - The U.S. Census Bureau reported today on where the heaviest population growth in Florida was concentrated last year.

St. Cloud Funcionarios de St. Cloud representan a sus ciudadanos durante viaje a la capital del estado St. Cloud, FL - Funcionarios del Municipio de St. Cloud regresaron el 19 de marzo a la ciudad luego de un viaje legislativo a Tallahassee de tres días.

La Alcaldesa de St. Cloud Rebecca Borders, el Vicealcalde Jeff Rinehart, y los Miembros de Concilio Dave Askew y Donald Shroyer fueron acompañados por la Administradora de Servicios Públicos Veronica Miller y el Jefe de Policía del Departamento de la Policía de St. Cloud Pete Gauntlett.

St. Cloud officials represent citizens during trip to state’s capital St. Cloud, FL - City of St. Cloud officials returned March 19 to St. Cloud after a three-day legislative trip to Tallahassee. Public Services Administrator Veronica Miller and St. Cloud Police Department Chief Pete Gauntlett accompanied St. Cloud Mayor Rebecca Borders, Deputy Mayor Jeff Rinehart, and Council Members Dave Askew and Donald Shroyer.

St. Cloud officials drove up to the state’s capital for the 2015 State Legislative Session to discuss issues that could affect St. Cloud. The Florida Legislature 60-day session began March 3.

“Our trip was both informative and productive,” said Borders. “We met with several legislators from the house and the senate. Our Lobbyist Bill Barrett represented our city well and swayed several members to agree with our stance on several issues. We left him to continue working for our great city.”

Borders spoke to the Local and Federal Affairs Committee in reference to House Bill #365, Designated Areas for Skateboarding, Inline Skating, Paintball, or Freestyle or Mountain & Off-Roading Bicycling. HB #365 reads: “Removes requirement that governmental entity that provides designated area for skateboarding, inline skating, or freestyle bicycling post rules indicating written consent of parent or legal guardian of child under certain age is required to participates; provides for application of specified provisions that limit liability of governmental entity.”

City officials also met with District 39 Rep. Neil Combee, District 42 Rep. Mike La Rosa, District 50 Rep. Tom Goodson, and District 54 Rep. Debbie Mayfield.

Topics discussed included Florida’s water supply.

Officials also toured the House of Representatives Chambers, learned first-hand how laws are made and changed, and were present during Osceola County’s Florida Advanced Manufacturing Research Center presentation. St. Cloud City Council supports the project, which would be located on the 20-acre site across from Osceola Heritage Park.

“I truly enjoyed talking with our representatives face to face and providing them with some feedback on what is significant to our citizens,” said Askew. “It’s important for me as a Council Member to hear first-hand what our legislators are thinking because it may directly affect the way we live our lives here in St. Cloud.”

It’s a values-based program so I don’t want to see anyone turned away for financial reasons,” said

Janer, the commissioner for District 2 that includes Buenaventura Lakes and portions of the city of Kissimmee. “I know Central Florida Council has struggled to engage Osceola families and I’m hopeful that this will help in those efforts so that many more young men in our community are given the values and knowledge they need to become our future leaders.”

The grant will help bring 50 boys in to the program, officials said.

Sheriff & Police Resultados finales de investigación en muerte de familia el 23 de diciembre de 2014 Kissimmee, FL - El 23 de diciembre de 2014, aproximadamente a la 1:30 p.m., la policía de Kissimmee recibió llamadas al 9-1-1 con respecto a un coche que se estrelló contra un estanque de retención situado en el Campus de Valencia Colegio de Vine Street en Kissimmee.

Three Men Arrested for Pointing a Gun at an Officer Kissimmee, Fl. - Kissimmee police have arrested three men for pointing a pellet gun at an officer. On March 20, 2015 at approximately 3:30 a.m. a Kissimmee patrol officer was sitting in his marked vehicle in the parking lot of 1532 West Vine Street observing traffic. The officer noticed a black Ford Mustang convertible traveling east on Vine Street with three male passengers inside the vehicle. As the vehicle came closer to him, the officer saw the back seat passenger point a long barreled rifle directly at him and he heard a loud bang. The officer believed the male had just shot at him.

The officer requested assistance and began to catch up with the mustang. Once additional officers were in position, a felony traffic stop

Kelvin Lopez Berbower was conducted on the Mustang. The three occupants were identified as Daniel Velazquez (D.O.B. 11/30/97) who was the driver, Kelvin LopezBeerbower (D.O.B. 12/17/96) and Ruben Lopez-Beerbower, who was the individual that shot at the officer.

Two long barreled rifle style pellet guns and pellets were found inside of the vehicle. When asked why he shot at the officer, Ruben shrugged his shoulders and gave no verbal response.

All three men were placed under arrest.

Ruben Lopez-Beerbower was charged with Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer.

Kelvin Lopez-Beerbower and Daniel Velazquez were charged with Criminal Conspiracy Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. Ruben and Kelvin were transported to the Osceola County Jail held on $10,000 and $5,000 bond respectively. Daniel was transported to the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center.

A través del curso de la investigación del tráfico, se determinó que el conductor tenía el control físico del vehículo antes de entrar en el estanque y que sus acciones fueron deliberadas y no accidentales. Un mecánico dos veces certificado de la A.S.E. determinó el vehículo involucrado no tenía deficiencias mecánicas. Una grabación en video que muestra al vehículo viajando de Vine Street East a la propiedad de Valencia Colegio estableció que no hubo otros vehículos involucrados en el incidente.

Final investigation results on December 23rd, 2014 family drowning Kissimmee, FL - On December 23, 2014, at approximately 1:30 p.m, Kissimmee police received 9-1-1 calls regarding a car crashing into a retention pond located on the Valencia College Campus on Vine Street in Kissimmee.

Upon arrival, officers and fire fighters attempted to reach the vehicle in the retention pond, but the car was completely submerged. Once the vehicle was removed from the pond, officers located an adult male, adult female and two children in the vehicle.

Kissimmee fire pronounced all four victims deceased on scene.

The investigation into the crash has been completed. It has been determined that the cause of death for all four (4) victims was drowning.

The manner of death for Ulysses

G. Montero was listed as suicide, while Julie M. Lopez-Elias’, Julissa M. Montero’s and Delias Montero’s manner of death is listed as homicide.

The medical examiner determined there was no evidence to indicate Ulysses suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.

Through the course of the traffic investigation, it was determined that the driver had physical control of the vehicle prior to entering the pond and that his actions were deliberate and not accidental. A dual A.S.E. certified mechanic determined the vehicle involved had no mechanical deficiencies. Video evidence showing the vehicle traveling from East Vine Street onto Valencia College property established no other vehicles involved in the incident.

NASA El lanzamiento de los astronautas que se quedarán por primera vez un año en la Estación Espacial Internacional será este Viernes 27 de marzo la tierra. El acoplamiento con el módulo NASA TV dará cobertura extensiva al lanzamiento y la llegada del grupo al laboratorio orbital. El astronauta de la NASA Scott Kelly y el cosmonauta Mikhail Kornienko de la Agencia Federal Espacial Rusa (Roscosmos) vivirán y trabajarán un año a bordo de la estación espacial y viajará también el cosmonauta Gennady Padalka. El trio será parte del equipo Expedition 43 de la estación.

La transmission de NASA TV comenzará el 27 de marzo a las 2:30 p.m. hora del Este, con el lanzamiento programado para las 3:42 p.m. (1:42 a.m. del Sábado 28, en Baikonur) desde el Cosmodromo Baikonur en Kazakshtan. Despidiéndome de la isla del encanto, Puerto Rico, no podía dejar de pasar por una de las mejores vistas panorámicas por carretera del Caribe, al sureste de San Juan, dejando el tradicional "lechón asado" de las montañas de Guavate en Cayey y continuando hasta la costa y playas virginales de Salinas, a sólo media hora al este de Ponce.

La jornada nos lleva al lugar donde mejor he comido mariscos en mi vida, probando las delicias de uno de los mejores en el Caribe, y de mis favoritos, mi "hermano" Ramón Carro en su Restaurante Chef Ramón.

Proveniente de una de las familias más antiguas en la producción industrial de alimentos en Puerto Rico (Productos Carro), su padre, el agrónomo Ramón Luis Carro (QDEP), y su madre Doña Elba, establecieron su hogar en el área y se convirtieron en los embajadores gastronómicos de Borínquen (otro nombre para Puerto Rico). Así, apoyaron a su hijo Ramón a cursar sus estudios culinarios en los mejores centros de Europa.

Hay que buscar tiempo para "vivir" la experiencia de Chef Ramón...y como dice mi cónyuge... "el que no ha venido a Chef Ramón, no es feliz!"

En un ambiente encantador, frente a la playa de Salinas, su siempre sonriente esposa, Yanid, te da la bienvenida. Ese día, soleado, con el olor a mar del Caribe, nos recibió ella con su ya famosa y tradicional bienvenida, su sangría hecha en casa, ó de interesarte, su extensa enoteca de vinos internacionales.

ambiente. El tiempo se detiene... y no quieres que continúe su marcha, pues comienza tu sublime jornada al destino de la mejor comida, la mejor compañía de sus anfitriones, en el mejor ambiente entre "familia" cuando se comparte con el matrimonio Carro.

Iniciamos con los suculentos manjares del pan al estilo Chef Ramón, con aceite, ajo molido y otros...calientito, suave...,¡qué delicia!

MLS Dream 2015 Orlando, FL - We had the opportunity to chat with Pavel Pardo the retired soccer star from the Mexican National team who is now a spokesperson promoting and helping to find the MLS stars of the future.

For nine years now this has been the dream for many young soccer players between the ages of 14 and 18 and this year Orlando City Soccer will be one of the three hosting teams for this tournament.

This tournament has already given the opportunity to many young players to do what they love, that is play soccer, and to do it professionally. Many have gone on to successful MLS careers such as Jorge Villafaña, Gabriel Funes Morio and Rogelio Fuentes all professional soccer players and many others that have gone on to play on MLS academies, national youth teams and other professional leagues around the world.

Nik Vucevic and Victor Oladipo both had 8 rebounds and 22 points but it was rookie Elfrid Payton who led the team. Payton earned his second consecutive triple double with 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 22 points.

He is the first rookie in 18 years to record consecutive double doubles.

Orlando got off to a great start and managed to hold the lead for the majority of the game. Despite a push from Portland late in playing time, the Magic were able to finish with a 111 to 104 win.

On Sunday, the Denver Nuggets came to town. Former Magic guard Jameer Nelson came home to face his former team. The Magic lacked defense against Denver and when Danilo Gallinari led the Nuggets to a

history. The hole was too big to climb out of this time and the Magic would fall to Denver 119 to 100.

Next up, the Atlanta Hawks took on Orlando at the Amway Center.

The Magic played a great first half finishing with a 5 point lead. Atlanta slowly began chipping away at their lead and in the last few minutes of the game, the Hawks took over. They played very tight, very high pressure defense to hold the Magic to just 2 points in the final five minutes of the game. Atlanta took home a 95 to 83 win over Orlando.

These types of losses need to be the first thing to go next season. This season has featured far too many games where Orlando has a lead and loses it in the final minutes of play.

Tonight the Magic will host the Detroit Pistons. They will also be honoring Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq will be inducted into the Orlando Magic’s Hall of Fame tonight. It’s easy to remember the bad times when the star players left the team, but the good times existed and deserve an appropriate honor.

Less than 10 games remain for the Magic this season. Expect a very active summer for Orlando. There’s absolutely no way this same roster is returning next year.
