Orlando Eye establece Récord Mundial Orlando, FL - Como The Orlando Eye gira hacia su inauguración el 04 de mayo , Nik Wallenda puso su mirada en su primera proeza en una rueda de observación. El 29 de abril, Wallenda caminó con éxito en la parte superior de la rueda de observación de 400 pies, sin ataduras o alambre, mientras se movía. Orlando Eye sets World Record Orlando, FL - As The Orlando Eye spins toward its May 4 grand opening, Nik Wallenda set his sights on his first stunt on an observation wheel. On April 29, Wallenda successfully walked on top of the 400-foot observation wheel, without a tether or wire, while it was moving. The Orlando Eye, located at the brand new I-Drive 360 entertainment complex, is the largest observation wheel on the North American East Coast, offering stunning 360-degree views of Central Florida within the comfort of 30 airconditioned passenger capsules that can accommodate up to 450 people. From the top of the observation wheel, Wallenda saw the same breathtaking views as passengers on the Eye, which include nearby theme parks and attractions, the downtown Orlando skyline,
lakes and lush landscape, and, if the day is especially clear, Cape Canaveral on Florida’s East Coast. “When I heard about The Eye, I just had this vision of how cool it could be to tackle it, and on top of that, it’s just really an amazing structure to behold,” said Wallenda during an earlier press conference announcing his April 29 stunt. “There are so many [actual] moving parts to this walk that I think people are going to enjoy watching it as much as I’m going to enjoy taking part in it.” “Looking down over I-Drive 360 from The Orlando Eye will provide a great perspective of the many venues guests can experience when they visit this incredible entertainment complex,” added Wallenda.

Annual State of the City address of Orlando Orlando, FL - Last Wednesday, April 29, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer delivered his annual State of the City address to hundreds of residents, business owners and community leaders gathered at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
• Reducing residential burglaries by 27% this year and crime overall being down six of the last seven years;

Students currently in ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades at any high school in Osceola County and their parents are invited to a Dual Enrollment Information Night on May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Osceola High School. Attendees will learn how Dual Enrollment can help students earn college credits and/or career certifications in high school. The different Dual Enrollment options will be explained, along with the requirements for each program.
Dual Enrollment programs allow qualifying students to be enrolled in both high school and college with earned credits applying to both a high school diploma and a college degree. Orange Star - HCCMO - Noticias / News La Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Metro Orlando anuncia resolución de brecha de cobertura médica Orlando, FL - Existe una brecha en la cobertura de salud que deja un porcentaje de la población americana sin el seguro de salud adecuado. Estos individuos entran en un nivel de ingresos en donde no ganan lo suficiente para entrar en los mercados de subsidios de seguro o ganan demasiado para cualificar para Medicaid. Actualmente, de todo el país, el estado de la Florida tiene la cuarta tasa más alta con personas sin seguro médico. Esto incluye aproximadamente 717,000 residentes que viven actualmente en el área metropolitana de la Florida Central (incluye los condados Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole y Volusia County), de los cuales el 20% son hispanos. The Hispanic Chamber of Metro Orlando announces healthcare coverage gap resolution Orlando, FL - There is a health coverage gap that leaves a percentage of the U.S. population without adequate health insurance. These individuals fall into an income bracket that does not earn enough to enter the market place subsidies, and also earn too much to qualify for Medicaid. The state of Florida currently has the fourth highest rate of uninsured individuals in the country. This includes approximately 717,000 residents currently living in the Central Florida metropolitan area (Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia County), 20% of which are Hispanic. Recognizing that the issue not only impacts the community at a personal level, but extends into the economic impact of the region, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) has proposed a Healthcare Coverage Gap Resolution, which was unveiled during a recent press conference at the National Entrepreneur Center. The Resolution requests that members of the Central Florida Delegations of the Florida State Senate and House of Representatives ensure that its
citizens have access to appropriate health care services in the most costeffective settings. The Resolution states that appropriate health care access will improve the quality of life for families, while simultaneously reducing costs to the health care system. HCCMO President, Diana Bolivar stated "closing Florida's healthcare coverage gap, can positively contribute to the state's overall economic future, while improving the health and the financial security of Hispanics who play a vital role as consumers, workers, and business owners in our community." The HCCMO is taking a firm position on the issue, exclaiming that the current lack of insurance and access to preventive care increases certain health conditions for Hispanics in Florida. Such health conditions include diabetes, kidney disease, and HIV/AIDS. Closing Florida's healthcare coverage gap has the potential to create an economic gain for both Florida and the US, with estimates of $50 billion in economic activity during the first ten years, and creating an estimated 121,000 additional jobs in Florida including over 23,000 in the seven County Central Florida regions.

The "Hot Dogs" at the cafeteria entry are sensational! The "24 hours" is a different scheme, a design of asymmetric tracks with tight curves, endless straightaways and with the particularity that vehicles and four (4) teamed drivers compete day, dusk, night and dawn to complete a 24 hour competition. It's a fantastic event! And to feel these "fireball's roar" a few meters at unimaginable speeds...Outrageous! In addition, certain promoters allow thousands of spectators camping, overnight or even a fire pit to prepare a barbecue! One of the best BBQ ribs & chicken can be found there. En Español - Arte 8vo Aniversario de Tertulia 4 Gatos Orlando, FL - El grupo de tertulia en español Cuatro Gatos, dirigido por Maria Emma Fernandez, se reunió el pasado jueves, 23 de abril, en la Biblioteca Pública de Orlando, para celebrar su 8vo aniversario. Sheriff & Police Arrestan a madre por 4 cargos de Negligencia Infantil y DUI Condado Osceola, FL - El 27 de abril, aproximadamente a las 4:39 p.m., los agentes del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondieron a la Escuela Elemental de Highland. A su llegada, los agentes hablaron con un empleado de la escuela quien indicó que una madre que llegó a recoger a sus hijos parecía intoxicada mientras esperaba en su coche. Los agentes se pusieron en contacto con la madre, Carlhie Thompson, quien estaba en su vehículo con cuatro niños, entre las edades de 2 a 11 años. Los agentes observaron que los ojos de Thompson parecían vidriosos/inyectados en sangre y detectaron un olor a alcohol

Osceola County – On April 27 at approximately 4:39 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff's deputies responded to Highland's Elementary School. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a school employee who indicated a parent picking up her children appeared intoxicated while waiting in her car.

In addition, a breathalyzer test revealed Thompson was three times over the legal limit. She was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.

Two Suspects Arrested for Armed Robbery Osceola County, FL – On April 24 at approximately 2:12 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff's deputies responded to 7-Eleven located at 5880 W. Detectives contacted local taxi cab companies and discovered the two suspects, later identified as Yancarlo Santos-Hernandez and Robert Bonilla were taken to the Econolodge located at 4669 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee. They made contact with Hernandez and Bonilla and brought them in for questioning. Neither suspects cooperated with the investigation, but based on the victim's statement and the evidence, Hernandez and Bonilla were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Grand Theft.

Los aficionados del Orlando City son los más leales Orlando, FL - El Orlando City Soccer Club sufrió una nueva derrota frente a 30,908 fanáticos en el Citrus Bowl el pasado domingo contra Toronto FC. El club todavía no ha logrado una victoria en su estadio. Los aficionados, sin embargo, no parecen demasiado desilusionados por esto. In the loss to Toronto, Orlando City let opportunities slip away from them. Both teams were still even at 0 after the first half. But just five minutes into the second half and Toronto would find their way onto the scoreboard. Jozy Altidore made his way through Orlando’s defense and played the ball perfectly to Ricochet off the far post and into the back of the net. Orlando made some lineup changes bringing in Bryan Rochez and Carlos Rivas to find their equalizer. Despite their efforts, Orlando never found it. In the 83rd minute of play, Altidore did it again. This time the ball was sent deep into Orlando’s half. Altidore was quick to the ball and slipped it past Donovan Ricketts. Toronto walked away with a 2-0 win. Orlando’s next home game is tomorrow night at the Citrus Bowl against Ponte Preta, the oldest soccer team from Brazil. The International friendly is a great chance for Orlando to correct some of their mistakes from last weekend.
